  1. For this reason and a host of others is why I pay for roadside assistance on my cell plan. Let somebody else deal with all that crap.
  2. Breakfast in Marathon at the Oasis on our last day of travel. The Marathon Motel was actually a great stay, especially if you want to avoid the price of the Gage.
  3. Don't let the outside appearance keep you from stopping at the J& P Bar and Grill in Comstock. One of the best burgers I have had. Jalapeno Burger with homemade jalapeno mayo. Dad had the tacos. Would have driven right past if the guy at the Judge Bean Museum in Langtry hadn't clued us in.
  4. Agree about Marfa, the "I Love Dick" crowd has definitely taken over since that show became famous. Although I am far from one to give advice on what kind of vehicle to travel in, we made it all the way in to the Solitario in a two wheel drive Chevy P/U. Also, can't have a Big Bend thread without a picture of a goat drinking a beer.
  5. Saturday Lunch at El Patio in Presidio. The chili rellenos is probably in my top three. Menudo is also top notch. Salsa was HOT! Very good tip on keeping some food with you. We kept a yeti cooler loaded with drinks, sandwich meats, sardines, tamales (get them at the bakery in Presidio) and as much homemade mexican bread as we could fit in a grocery bag.
  6. New BBQ Joint in Alpine, had a band playing when we arrived but they quit at seven, a couple of minutes after we arrived. Special was pork ribs and we got the last rack. Pretty damn tasty. Couldn't eat it all, had to share with a kid taking a weekend football visit to SR.
  7. Just got back yesterday. Alpine, Ft. Davis, McDonald Observatory, Marfa, Presidio, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Lajitas, Chisos Basin in the NP, Marathon, Langtry, Comstock, Del Rio, and Uvalde. Here are a few pictures of our first nights dinner at Reata in Alpine. Calf fries, ribeye and salmon.
  8. Yep, I had just changed over to a new debit card and they had just mowed. If I had known they were going to dump me...........
  9. Cavender's Boot City Address: 2833 LBJ Freeway Dallas, TX 75234 Phone: 972-239-1375 Location: At Josey Lane Store Hours: Mon-Sat 9am-9pm, Sun 11am-6pm
  10. Evidently the lawn company that mows my lawn was targeted by ICE last weekend, Got a call on Monday that they are having severe labor shortages and can't cut my lawn anymore. Looks like you are ready for the business.
  11. After watching the second episode, totally understand this. Needs to be more like Seinfeld, a show about nothing. too much bitching about the one kid not "respecting authority" and doing laundry, cleaning up, etc.
  12. We are staying in the Sauceda bunkhouse, yeah the drive in is a pain in the ass but we don't have anything but time.
  13. Thanks for heads up.....probably just press on to Panther Junction and the Lodge at the National Park.
  14. Hey, listen, I want somebody good - and I mean very good - to plant that gun. I don't want my brother coming out of that toilet with just his dick in his hands, alright?
  15. I'm beginning to think that Coral's dream of Negan joining the Hilltop is going to come true eventually....sure as hell nobody can kill Negan. Had high hopes that the Nazi chick would finally put him down but no....she has some kind of agenda that isn't going to work and he lives another day. Morgan seems to have the best outlook on this shit, just kill. I guess he is getting ready to wander off to FTWD. "obligatory, this show sucks"
  16. I'll second Deckhands. The South Austin location at South Lamar and Ben White has never disappointed. The staff is friendly and the manager always come by our table and strikes up some conversation, she loves to hunt and fish.
  17. Heading out there on Thursday for 5 days, other than the Marfa Lights, we probably won't spend too much time in Marfa. We will hit up Ft. Davis National Park and Davis Mountains State Park. As someone mentioned take a swim in Balmorhea if you can. If your up that way, Poco Mexico Café is right outside Ft. Davis on the highway to Balmorhea. A day in Alpine, checking out the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross and hitting up Reata that night. El Patio in Presidio is a good lunch spot if you plan on driving 170 from Presidio to Lajitas Ft. Leaton is a good stopping point if you want to check out an old trading post from the Indian War days. We plan on spending a night at Big Bend Ranch State Park before heading toward Terlingua. Probably grab lunch at Starlight, drive through the National Park and end up in Marathon for the night. Going to hit up Langtry on the way home, never been to the Jersey Lilly.
  18. Knight jumps queen! Bishop jumps queen! Pawns jump queen! *Gangbang*!
  19. Binge watched Season 1 this weekend, I think I'm ready.
  20. This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.
