Texas Permanent School Fund (US Largest Edu. Endowment) rife with corruption?
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/investigations/article/Highly-confidential-School-fund-s-13631976.php Some excellent investigative journalism being shut down by privacy laws left and right. I hope this gets some traction. This smells as fishy as the Pecan Park deadly raid, but I'm afraid this corruption casts a much wider net.

Tequila y Mezcal
Buddy of mine made me a tequila drink the other day. He cinnamon sugared the rim of a rocks glass, then poured a couple fingers of good resposada in it. Then he put some more cinnamon sugar on a slice of orange and torched it to brulee. You take a sip of tequila and follow with a nibble of cinnamon sugar orange. It was very tasty. I'd prefer that to 99% of desserts nowadays.

Tales from the cryptocurrency: Investors may lose $190m after 30-yo founder dies of Crohn's Disease without revealing password
I know I would definitely put my affairs in order 12 days before I faked my own death. He probably died of fake cancer. The money is in the wreath fund.

"Kids for Cash" Judges gets 28 years
It's a racket to fund Orthodox Jewish proselytization. They're very vague about their goals for that very reason. If you watch One of Us on Netflix, you'll see how they persecute those in their own communities that don't abide by strict adherence to traditional Jewish doctrine. https://www.charitywatch.org/charitywatch-articles/costly-and-continuous-kars4kids-ads-disguise-charity-39-s-real-purpose/179

Best Burger in Texas (and each state)
Not saying it was the best by any stretch of the imagination, but Grub's Burger Bar used to serve a thai peanut burger. It was the best damned thing on their menu, and then they got rid of it. I'm not sure if this was because of concern over food allergies/cross contamination, but I've yet to go back since they took it away. I've tried to re-create at home, but it's just not right.

"Kids for Cash" Judges gets 28 years
This popped up on a friend's FB feed. I thought it was the sentencing, but it looks to be from 2011. My bad. Delete post, permaban OP.

"Kids for Cash" Judges gets 28 years
Not sure how many of you remember this case, but this guy was throwing juvies into detention center left and right because of the kickbacks from the detention center developers. He did not get enough in my book, and fuck his lawyer for "oh, m' poor baby is already punished enough, being branded for life as the 'Kids for Cash' judge". Funny how you can develop a reputation based on your own actions. Poor fucking judge. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2011/08/11/139536686/pa-judge-sentenced-to-28-years-in-massive-juvenile-justice-bribery-scandal?sc=tw&cc=share?sc=tw&cc=share Here's hoping the uncle of one of this victims ends up sharing a cell with him.

Or you could do what I'm doing and opt for the Spicy Polynesian Poke Bowl Salad at Pei Wei. They say that it's only 760 calories, but I'd bet my left nut it's closer to 1260 calories.

No charges filed in Killeen Texas unarmed shooting between neighbors.
Jesus Titty-fucking Christ. What planet am I living on where this doesn't even make it to trial?!?! I'm not saying it was murder 1, but I've got to believe there is a lesser charge that would be a dead ringer for this sort of deadly escalation.

- All cops lie: TABC edition
I hope the DA chokes of his meal of dicks. When a cop lies, it's "nothing intentional," even if that lie would have resulted in a wrongful conviction if there wasn't video evidence of the lie. What a fucking cuck. No doubt he's on the fast track for a judgeship in Aggieland with that sort of reasoning.- Lent
8 year old sugar-deprived me would be pissed to have been sheltered from this knowledge.- Lent
When I was in my late teens, I heard that you can break your Lenten fast on Sundays during Lent. I can't remember the reasoning, but it seems contrary to the whole 40 day fast idea. It's not like Jesus got manna from heaven every Sunday he was in the desert. https://www.catholic.org/featured/headline.php?ID=180- The National
I'm holding off. I'll just stop in and buy them at the box office in person to avoid the 30% service fee. I really wish they had opted for an indoor venue. An outdoor show in September in Houston is not something I'm thrilled about, and I think their acoustics are 100 times better at indoor venues. Even when I saw them at Red Rocks, it didn't hold a flame to their show at ACL Live. I still get shivers thinking about them closing the show with Vanderlyle Crybaby.- Air Fryers

Trust me, I’ve got the fat reserves to survive it for some time. I’m 23 lbs down over the last 8ish weeks. I use MyFitnessPal and for a sedentary 33 year old of my weight, it recommended 1650 calories/day for 2lb/week weight loss. If you only have a grapefruit and some coffee for breakfast, you can eat ~700 calories at lunch and dinner and still meet your goals, which isn’t too difficult if you’re cooking/logging your own meals. Eating out is a bitch, but not impossible if you plan accordingly.- Lent
First time I met my Sicilian in-laws to be (we weren’t engaged, only dating at that time for a few months) was on Good Friday. My gf and I had been doing the no meat on Friday thing all Lent, only to go over to their place to be offered steaks for dinner. Her mom even taught RCIA. I’ve always had a good laugh about that.- Lent
I'm going with a different approach. I've been doing a diet-bet thing for almost 8 weeks now, so there's not much more I could "give up" in my diet that wouldn't royally fuck with my life (you can take my coffee from my cold, dead hands). Instead, I'm going to try to do daily prayer/thanks/introspection before bed. I think I'm supposed to be doing that anyway, but probably haven't since at least Confirmation classes. I'm hoping to get more out of that than some arbitrary fast. If I can't keep up with that, I may try to fast for 1 meal a day, likely breakfast. I can survive on coffee until lunch time and that is a good way to keep the calorie intake in my weight-loss range (~1500/day).- Theranos' Death Rattle

This is a very cheap part (like $10 on their online part shop). https://parts.gillmansubarunorth.com/p/Subaru_2014_Crosstrek-20L-CVT-Limited/SWITCH-STOP-LAMP-------------------------FOR-BULB/65157237/83311FJ001.html I just had mine swapped out in my 2014 Crosstrek within the last year. Dealership tried to charge for 1/2 hour of shop time (~$60) service to install it, so I said I would buy it and install myself in the parking lot. Service manager said they would install it for free at that point, since it was a well known issue for them. I'm sure a lot of suckers have paid for this over the years, but really, this should have been a mandatory recall a long time ago. - All cops lie: TABC edition
