  1. They are working on the engineering. I've only seen it discussed in slides in the CTRMA board meetings online. It's still really early.
  2. Sam's brother is dead. Sounds like suicide or a terrible accident.
  3. CTRMA is moving ahead on extending the 290 Expressway to Elgin.
  4. Would it be really dumb to buy Ford? It's cheap and they seemed prime to make a big splash with EV in the next 5-10.
  5. Huh, seems longer than that but you're right. I take it back.
  6. I believe at least some of those were part of a shit ton of projects that were delayed indefinitely by CAMPO to fund 35 reconstruction with managed lanes instead of toll lanes.
  7. There are lots of trucks on 130.
  8. 45SW is the shortest toll over? LOL. Not remotely true and it's only a dollar. Try counting the tolling booths along the new 183.
  9. Brat is right. You may not like 130 and that's fine but it still serves a big community and will help bring desperately needed development to this part of town as development pops up around it. Also, anyone who says trucks don't take 130 don't ever drive on 130. You could ban trucks from 35 but you would have a lot of empathy HEBs, Targets, CVSes and just about every other commercial building considering they all require trucks to service loading docks.
  10. This. People would be shocked at how much we could improve traffic flow if we just focus on making highways and roads smarter instead of wider.
  11. The new highway entrance going under the rebuilt ramp is going to be a profound improvement over the current entrance which makes cars travel through the line of cars trying to exit.
  12. And now thanks to Kelly and other NIMBY council members we are likely going to get a 12th council member (11th district) since they separated the strong mayor proposal and the additional district. I think Strong Mayor is going to go down in flames and the additional district will be approved. Geographic districts are fine but you need to balance it out with a few at large members to balance out the increased power small neighborhood groups have now over entire city issues. There was a competing proposal at the time for 8 geographic districts and 3 at large (1 being the ceremonial mayor) and that passed BUT it didn't have as much support as 10-1 which is a stupid way to pick a system in my humble opinion. This is what we got and an additional district is just going to lower the bar even more for who can get elected.
  13. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/politics/austin-mayor-and-council/austin-council-mackenzie-kelly-kvue-interview/269-3f77b456-0c17-48a3-a884-38c32e94a3cc
  14. None. What does the mayor's office have to do with 35?
  15. Not for a rebuilding a direct connector ramp. Also, congrats south Austin. You're getting your own research blvd style elevated highway down I-35 from 71 all the way to Slaughter (actually between South Boggy Creek and Slaughter). Going elevated though will allow intersection bypass lanes at Stassney and William cannon which is pretty dope. Still, it's going to look like shit.
  16. Reconstruction of half of the 35 North to 183 North flyover starts soon. TLDR: The design is great. Deal with construction because it's nothing compared to what's coming for 35 in a few years.
  17. I think the eyes band will become the "alt" version for a lot of people.

  19. I'm shocked it's that far north. It feels like we are just moments away from a Las Vegas style shooting spree in downtown Austin. What a shitty country this has turned into.
  20. Technically that's a 2 year jump since they didn't do appraisals last year but that's still bullshit. Hope you can protest.
  21. What the fuck are you talking about spending for? Your taxes didn't grow that much because of the tax rate. They grew because of the appraisal. It's also extremely stupid and uninformed to compare a commuter trail line (which is filled to capacity at rush hour) to an urban light rail train but that's not shocking considering how you don't seem to understand the difference between tax rate and appraisal. Anyway, I'm sure it'll still get you infinity rep in the DT. TLDR: Complaining about rising property taxes while also defending blocking multifamily housing is like complaining about a sore butt as you violently fist your own asshole.
  22. TCAD has nothing to do with the city of Austin. Council has been trying to build more housing units but anti density fuckers have sued to stop them. If you want to blame someone, blame Fred Lewis and the other jokers that think single family lots have to be protected above everything else. Don't blame the fucking train for surly rep from all the olds here who hate everything Austin.
  23. Up 15%. The thing to remember is they didn't adjust last year for residential so this is actually the first increase in 2 years so I'm not complaining. I would be if I had hit %30 though...
