  1. There's also a smaller food hall (really small) on Avenida Nuevo Leon in Condesa where you'll want to go in and take the stairs to Pasillo del Humo.  Excellent Oaxacan food.  https://twitter.com/pasillodehumo?lang=en  Next door is a place called Bonito which I like, too.  A little fancier in a building designed by Luis Barragan.

Came across this today - https://eatmexico.com/2018/05/why-visit-milpa-alta-a-day-in-mexico-citys-rural-flavor-rich-countryside/

Sounds really cool and worthwhile but cannot personally vouch for it.

  2. More than I care to spend in Mexico City.  I heard its at least $100+ per person without drinks.

May not be your cup of tea but you need to get into Mexico City street food.

...and while not the best culinary experience, you can't go wrong with an old school chilango restaurant like San Angel Inn for Sunday brunch.

  3. What is that page?  I found an official Mexican government one.  Is that one government run?

Debating on what to do on this next trip... last one was spent in the centro, more time at Chapultupec, meal at La Hacienda de los Morales, food tour and a day trip to Tepotzlan.  This time I think we want to spend more time in San Angel and Coyoacan, maybe do the Cruz Azul game... not sure.  Looking at Tepotzotlan but can't tell how worthwhile it is.  Heard Nevado de Toluca is very cool but I wonder if I can get my family to do it.  This will be trip # 4 in 2 years so trying to come up with something unique.

  4. You should see the stores in Tokyo... you can get great sushi, Japanese Whiskey... they're amazing.  Same goes for Taiwan.

"Of the 66,579 stores around the globe, 20,392 stores (31 percent of global stores) are in Japan,[48] with 2,665 stores in Tokyo alone.[49] "

I don't think you'd have any problems walking up and buying. America doesn't come close to selling out and usually has around 30K there and Cruz Azul is playing there this year and they'll have even fewer fans.

...and the game we're looking at is Cruz Azul so that's good to know.

  6. OK - thanks.  Saw that Ticketmaster doesn't let you buy them until about two weeks out.  I think it would be a great experience... when we visited Tokyo, one of the highlights of the trip was going to a Yomiuri Giants game

How do you like my old house....and I'm an idiot - the ATO's  have our old house.

Trying to figure out who you are.  Lat must know.

Whoever said Phi Psis were creepers... accurate.  Odd bunch that often lost their couches to spontaneous combustion.

  8. Then there Charlie Whiting...

Whiting says that Hamilton couldn't know what Ferrari is doing, while confirming that the FIA is up to speed.

"I'm quite amused by it really," he said. "Because we know quite a lot about the Ferrari car, and there is no way that Lewis would know anything about the Ferrari car."

Anyone been to Holbox? seriously thinking about it... looks like Isla but more remote and less touristy. Though not without tourism.

Friends just got back from Holbox... pictures looked amazing and they loved it.

On the Cancun article, all locals, not in the tourist area, probably drug related.  Sucks.  Wish all of that would stop but let's stop pretending those were a bunch of Americans on vacation.  They weren't.

Since we already have an Italy thread, I thought I would ask about Sicily here.  The only things I know about Sicily are related to wine and the mafia.  There was this great article in Bloomberg that made me even more excited for a trip.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/photo-essays/2018-08-08/sicily-travel-guide-photos-where-to-stay-what-to-do-eat-see

Last time we went to Sicily we were in San Vito Lo Capo.  Spent our time in Trapani, Marsala, Favignana, Erice, Riserva dello Zingaro... plenty on the west side of the island (including Segesta, Castellamare del Golfo, Scopello, Palermo, Monreale, etc. without the tourists on the eastern side and with better prices.

Bad advice here....   read up on the traffic camera / speeding ticket system.   Drive like a formula 1 guy and you will have $1000s of dollars in fines mailed to you months later.  Yes the locals drive fast, they know where the cameras are!

Also for all the talk of aggressive drivers in Italy, I think it's all relative, as a S Florida guy, it just felt like home, but less insane/more talented drivers there.

Not bad advice because 1) navigators will tell you where the cameras are 2) the cameras will tell you where the cameras are as some cities even post signs that one is coming up 3) the Tutor system on the highways is based on average speed between two points.  If you see that the Tutor has started, you chill on the speed until you get past the two points 4) talk to the locals and they will tell you that in many towns, the camera is not always in the Autovelox box.  They move it around from box to box at times.  Sometimes they do this to keep people guessing as to which camera is working and sometimes they do this to keep people from stealing cameras.

Multiple driving trips to Italy... still waiting for the first fine to show up in the mailbox.
