  1. Grabbed one of bell peppers last night to use in a dish... chopped it up, took a bit of a raw piece and, uh, not a regular bell pepper.  Super spicy.  Maybe because it grew next to a jalapeno and cayenne plant?  Cross pollination or something or other or maybe it was inaccurately labeled when I bought it.

  2. Yeah, if you didn't explore Coyoacan, San Angel, Condesa, Xochimilco or even wander through Chapultupec, there are many reasons to go back.  Maybe I'm not sure what you like to do on vacation but after having been 4x in 2 years, every time we leave feeling like me missed out on a lot.  Did you go see any live music?  Lucha libre?

BTW, for those who like jazz, strongly recommend this place in the centro.  In the basement of an old bank in the centro... http://www.zincojazz.com/

    You’re right, it’s a knee slapper...

I only went off what I read about Zona Rosa. Didn’t feel compelled to check it out.

That area looks awful.  I'm just trying to wrap my mind around staying in an area like that in Mexico City when you could stay in Condesa and not see any chains other than local chains.

  4. I will say... of all the areas to hang out in Mexico City, Zona Rosa is close to last on my list (unless you want to add fun places like Tepito or Tacubaya).  There are tons of great areas... Polanco is nice if you want to see the "Beverly Hillsish" aspect of Mexico City but its not where you go for culture or real local experience.  Combine the main areas of Mexico City with side trips to Desierto de Los Leones, Tepotzlan, Tepotzotlan, Teotihuacan, etc the possibilities are endless.  As for street food, Mexico City is one of the world's greatest street food destinations.  Did you go out after dark?  I mean, I know you ate sushi at a hotel in Mexico City so....

  5. Speaking of, footage from end of April/1st of May in Saas Fee.  Season can run year round on the glacier but they shut down for two months for maintenance.

Must be so kick ass in the summer...

  6. I love steep groomers... European resorts can work magic with those although I'll have some fun in bumps, too.  We'll see how this year goes given my knee situation.   I will be tempted to go off piste but our resort choice this year has some limits off piste due to heavily serraced glaiers.   Don't think you can veer too far off without a guide or without staying close to the marked runs.  Even marked runs, though, will offer up nearly 6,000 feet of vertical.

Will get fitted for a Don Joy this December but I'm feeling very good about how things will go on the mountain by the spring time.  This year should be a "take it easy" year if I'm smart enough.  Of course, my season after an MCL injury was supposed to be "take it easy" but I jammed as much vertical as I could into 6 days as after day one, I felt great.  My ligaments were intact, though.

  7. As a young and stupid teenager, I wanted to go to college in Bozeman so I could go skiing Bridger Bowl.  Always heard it is amazing.

Ok, so on the very tiny off chance anyone is planning on skiing Saas Fee this year, they're selling season passes through November 4th for 255 CHF per person.  That's $255.00 for a season pass... worthwhile if you're going to hit it for 5-7 days.

Mountain has glaciers (has been open since July and used as a summer training ground for various World Cup skiers, intl ski teams, etc), about a 6,000 foot vertical and supposedly has stunning views.  They're supposed to get at least a meter or two of snow this week... (that's a lot in inches) :D
