A-basin getting ready...

I found tickets on StubHub eeeeasiliy under $200 for game 4. Not the best seats but you can get in the game and not be in nosebleeds for under $200/ticket.
Was thinking about game time on Wednesday. I'm all in that we play in prime time on Wednesday. To me, this is the set up that, for TV, makes sense:
Day game - Brewers at LA - 1:00 local, 4:00 eastern
Evening game - Red Sox at Houston - 7:00 local, 8:00 eastern
-
Screw it... we're going to go to one of the games. I have a gut feel that Casey Caendele is going to be the breakout star of the series.
Get ready for some Eric Anthony bombs, y'all...

Last year, earliest game time during the ALCS was 5:08 Eastern while playing the Yankees.

When do they announce the times for Games 3 & 4? I just bought tickets to Game 3 and am hoping it's not a super early start... but with the NLCS in Los Angeles that night, I don't like the odds.
Yeah, frustrating. I want to buy tickets to take the family but WTF.

We've yet to make it to Peubla but hear the centro is amazing and I really want to visit Cholula.

Seaweed On PN is horrible right now, not the time to go if you can help it
Following on the Isla Mujeres community boards on FB... sounds like it was due to Michael on Isla. Clean up is in process.

Just got back from Mexico City. Another great trip. So much eating.
A new tip... if you want to go buy mezcal to bring home, go here in Condesa: https://www.facebook.com/laoriundaroma/ - Rodrigo, the owner, is very cool and the selection will blow your mind. While you are in the neighborhood, this is where you want to get your elote:

You can also go somewhere a little more original and less overrun like Bergamo, Brescia or Cremona or, given your taste for food and wine, go to Franciacorta. Total no-brainer.
-
BTW, was looking through Twitter... one thing to think about while in town is who is playing...
Saw that the past few days, there are/were concerts by Johnny Marr (The Smiths), U2, Noel Gallagher, Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order), etc. Great music scene. My cousins saw Metallica play in the Zocalo last year.

Tizoncito is a few blocks north of La Guera. That place is solid for a quick stop
Super cheap (as are most places) and its a great option on Sunday nights when you can't get a reservation or find a restaurant you want past 6

Another good one... not a secret, per se, but great little chain for tacos
El Tizoncito - Av. Tamaulipas 122, Condesa, 06140 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

If you're going to be in Condesa, go to this corner (hopefully this works)
... and go to that food vendor with the green canopy. There's usually a line around lunchtime. Soooo good!!!!

I love checking this webcam and hearing the organ grinders you see on every corner in the zocalo...

MY guess is that concessions at just about any event in Mexico City are awesome... usually you can bring stuff in. Not always.

Finally saw the crazy girl from Tiajuana. WTF. Museo de Hanna. LOL.

We've seen the first two episodes. LOL at the crazy girl from Tijuana what a trip. Most of them actually come off as fairly likable which had me surprised looking at them. Tried to book a spur of the moment trip from DFW for this 3 day weekend, but got overrode for a one day Austin trip instead...bummer.
Watching the show you tend to see quite a few familiar places. Easy to spot Gin Gin's wall of skulls in the first episode - https://www.worldsbestbars.com/bar/mexico-city/cuauhtemoc-juarez/gin-gin/

Anyone been watching "Made in Mexico"? I'd say it puts Mexico City in a pretty good light (so far).
BTW, you'll notice them go into the country to rancehs with beautiful pine trees, gorgeous countryside. That's so close to Mexico City... if you go to Tepotzlan, you'll go right through it. Feels more the mountains between San Diego and Palm Springs than Mexico City. Really pretty. Strongly suggest visiting https://theculturetrip.com/north-america/mexico/articles/11-reasons-why-the-parque-nacional-desierto-de-los-leones-should-be-on-your-bucket-list/ next time you're in CDMX and you'll see what I mean.

Agree with escamoles. Just don't think about what you're eating but they're good. Even convinced my wife to try them.

Agree with Sixt. Used them in Geneva.

Been looking at lodging in Athens for our trip next summer... have to say, AirBnB prices in Athens kick ass, especially considering what we used to play to stay at places like the Athens Gate hotel.
Pretty sure we'll go back to Karpathos. If you haven't been...

When we went there were very few Americans and, as we were told, none who didn't have a connection to the island (ex: family members who now lived in NJ). Most of the tourists were Greek or Scandinavian. People were super friendly and it was a great island to explore.
