The same irrationality and circular logic that drove up CDO's and other rubber dog shit during the 08 crash are the same forces driving up the BTC price. It just pure optimistic speculation.

"The number goes up because people are investing in Bitcoin!"

"People are investing in Bitcoin because the number goes up!"

The funniest thing is gonna be when large banks and financial institutions end up being the majority holders of cryptos through these ETFs, and you no longer have a decentralized currency and are back to trusting and dealing with the banks

I’ve wondered about that last item.  Likely that banks and other institutions may end up owning a large percent of bitcoin but that doesn’t make it less decentralized. It’s the network that’s decentralized not the bitcoin holders.  But still institutions today may own larger percents of corporations but that doesn’t mean they get up to the high 90 percentile of ownership. There will always be individual ownership especially with a coin/share that’s divisible to 8 decimal places.

and if the price drops because lack of buyers, then institutions will sell because their shareholders will want out. The price and institution ownership will find a balance. And that balance will periodically shift.

These people should be getting every penny that's spent on "climate science." They're actually positively impacting the reality of man's impact on world we live in. imagine what they could do with double or triple their budget.

Their open ocean cleanup is interesting but their real work is with rivers carrying plastic and other trash out to sea. Here is one of the videos from this group that is working to fix a wall of plastic flowing down a Guatemala river. They fail in this attempt but failures are not always negative.

It's easy to say that poor people need to learn to properly dispose of trash but I bet most of the problem is due to lack of nearby infrastructure . Still there could be an opportunity to educate them on the importance of attempting to properly dispose of trash. Once again, if the option is there for them.

Putting these locals to work continuously cleaning out the rivers seems like the best return on the dollar but you also have to independently monitor it. It could create an perverse incentive for an enterprising person to purposefully dump trash into the river to be paid to clean it up. See the story about the Brits paying Indians to kill cobras, or the Hanoi rat massacre.

  3. The Don Lemon firing definitely points out how thin skinned Elon is. He obviously saw Lemon as a potential to reach out to new audiences. Actually a good idea to pay well known, left commentators to produce shows for X.

Elon must have wanted to be the first interview but then fires Lemon hours after being interviewed. If you don't want a true independent interview that might have tough questions, don't agree to an interview.

Why would anybody want to end early voting?  I for one don't want to stand in line for hours on election day when I don't have to and I still get my right to vote.  What is wrong with the Republican party?  What else will they get rid of?  Is abortions , contraception and LGBQT rights next?

Overall Dems seem to win the early vote. The GOP is now about picking the people who will be allowed to vote. It's not easy to flat out stop Dems from voting, so its going to be about making it difficult for them to vote in the manner they prefer to vote.

  6. Is a bitcoin worth $0.01 or $100K? It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. And today people are willing to pay $70K for one, mainly on the hope that someone will want to pay $80K for it tomorrow. Or whatever amount or timeframe. The person selling it thinks the other. There are plenty of financial products that also rely on the greater fool theory.

As for bitcoin supporting crime or terrorism activities. Yes, it 100% can be used for that. You know what also supports criminal activities: phones, internet, social media, mail, $100 bills, bank transfers, etc. I know it's tough for the govt. to prevent crime but it's also not innocent people's responsibility to suppress their freedoms to make the govt's job easier.

The nation’s oil production reached an average of 12.9 million barrels per day in 2023, up from the previous global record of 12.3 million barrels per day set by the U.S. in 2019. The monthly average in December — 13.3 million barrels per day — was high enough to set a new monthly record.

If Biden and his dementia are leading our economy, keep the dementia coming.

    Quote

The Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico is the largest oil-producing region in the country, accounting for roughly 40% of all U.S. crude oil production, and among the largest in the world.

And the Permian area of Texas will vote heavily for Trump. I guess they feel that Biden is holding them back.

Yep. As of Friday, iShares’ etf owned close to 0.7% of all bitcoin. Wouldn’t shock me if they get close to 1% this week or next. At some point, these etfs will struggle to find sellers if they keep attracting so much money from investors/gamblers.  It’s not impossible that some big whales will sell off some bitcoin to lock in profits but that would just pause the rise.

I wasn't far off with my prediction by Mar. 8th.

As of close Friday, IBIT reports owning 0.997% of all bitcoins. Of course, they still trail GBTC but quickly GBTC is selling bitcoins quickly as investors leave that ETF.

note: Let's keep presidential politics out of this.

Major ceilings at 70K/4K for BTC and ETH. 70K was briefly passed (new all time high) before the entire market fell down a couple of hours ago. Looks to be rebuilding steam.

Makes me think that if these two resistance amounts are surpassed, we could see a major bump upwards. Of course I'm reading into the data what I want to see.

Felt like lifetime of not being able to break 70/4 and I wake up to 71 and 4.

as Americans are groggily waking up today after the time change, I predict it could pop up to 75 (only a 4.6% gain from now) today before settling closer to 71. Should be a good day for the ETFs and micro strategy stock.

  10. Boss man should have put his foot down years ago but I guess he has some combination of liking this guy or feeling sorry for him. If the employee is smoking pot on the job, that’s not a difficult conversation to tell him to cut it out. Of course I’ve known more than one person to call a vape pen a weed pen, so maybe the boss is just incorrectly describing it.

  11. The trafficked woman in Katie Britt’s story after the SOTU has spoken out today against politicians using her story for their own good. Link

Fairly amazing that someone on TikTok tracked down the likely situation where Britt met this woman, and then journalists were able to force Britt into admitting the timeline and now Britt may have to apologize.

or at least it will be a GQP apology. In a high pitched whisper, Britt will say that she didn’t disingenuously use this story and that she hopes the woman is doing ok today. Then she will say something negative about Biden’s failures on the border.

Something I am very tired of, even in more liberal circles, is "Trump vs. Biden, again?". Well, yes, the President of the United States is running for re-election. Crazy, I know. It's not his fault he's running against an insane soon-to-be convicted felon rapist who wants to end democracy.

I think my head might explode before November.

Yeah. It’s very unlikely that a person and their team is going to spend a couple of year winning their first election to not run a second time. There can be circumstances that prevent someone from running but it’s rare.

Not that they’re recent but I believe Truman and LBJ were the only 2 presidents that could have run again. I assume Truman was done after serving close to 2 terms, and LBJ was 5 years with an extremely unpopular war with his party.  It’s probably not a coincidence that both of them were VPs of Presidents who died.

This cunt is at ufc again. Lot of dumb dumbs cheered him when he came on but I did my part and yelled loudly fuck this puto. Only one sadly. Oh well. Still though let it be known fuck trump. Now. And forever.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the ufc pays trump to be there. This explains why Trump posted that his folks should give Bud Light a chance again, after the UFC signed a big deal with Bud Light.

  15. I find sports fairly unviewable these days anyway. Except for Longhorns football games, I’m cool with only turning on games in the last 15 minutes.

edit: but to the OP’s question, I find the attention on sports gambling during games and pregames to be distracting. It’s also adds to the hypocrisy of sports. Which I don’t care except many sports announcers refuse to acknowledge it.

There is a 0% chance that the n word is not spoken at that table. The woman is probably polite enough to whisper or even mouth the word, at least until the third drink hits.

i wonder if the Fox News now has a safe word that then the producers say to the reporters to abandon a live interview. In case the reporter is not realizing the danger.
