  1. Probably not the best comp, but Siakam reminds me of a longer version of Rip Hamilton.

In fact this whole Toronto team reminds me of the title winning Pistons team from the 2000s. Great defenders everywhere and overall well constructed team.

People always underrate defense. Toronto has two DPOY in Kawhi and M. Gasol, another 1st Team defender in Ibaka, and another 2nd Team defender in Danny Green. Lowry has been top 20 in def win shares. That's not even counting the young guys who can all D up.

  2. Also, we saw plenty of ticks, but the permithrin saved us. Never had a single one on us.

I ended up with a little poison ivy on my ankle. Itching like a mofo.

On the 2nd night we saw a big water moccasin floating down the creek. Made our nightly bath a little more interesting.

There are a TON of water crossings, which I really enjoyed. Probably 60+. Most are relatively easy and don't require water shoes. We put on water shoes for 4 of them. In the future we will probably bring Crocs as they are lighter and also nice around the camp.

  3. Yeah, it was great. Temp was hot, but cooled down enough in the evenings. Total trip distance per GPS was 31 miles.

Started at the East 106 Trailhead and went counter-clockwise. Did 12.5 first day, camping about 1.5 miles before the trail turns right on the Athens Big Fork trail.

The 2nd day we cranked through the "mountains" and put in 14.5 miles. We could have finished the whole trail, but decided to camp another night and enjoy the scenery.

The final day was only about 4.5 miles and was absolutely gorgeous. The winding stairs area is one of the prettiest areas I have ever hiked. Some of the camp sites were fantastic. In the future I would like to just base camp at one of them and spend a long weekend fishing the Little Missouri River and drinking whiskey.

    Thanks all for the recs.

You know, this sounds and looks good, but I'm more of a basic big protein breakfast kind of a guy.  Dishes with lots of meat (#nohomo) and eggs, and some jalapenos or other peppers for a kick.  No fruit, pastries or other sweets, and skillet potatoes and flour tortillas are the only real starches or breads I'll eat.

I tend to agree with you, but my wife and kids usually like things on the sweeter side.  The good thing about the German pancakes is that they are VERY easy and require only about 3 minutes of active time to mix the 3 ingredients (eggs, milk, flour).  The remaining 20 minutes is in the oven and they are all done at once.  So perfect for a Saturday.  They actually require a large amount of eggs.  Our family of 5 goes through a dozen eggs every time we make them.

  5. Best breakfast I have had was smoked trout hash with hatch chiles, poached eggs, and hollandaise at Cafe Pasquals in Santa Fe.

Most frequent Saturday breakfast at our house is German (also called Dutch) Pancakes with butter, fresh lemon juice, and powdered sugar. Way better made with farm eggs. Always a side of bacon. Sometimes with sauteed apples. Sometimes with fresh berries.e75cfb92ee7e53d88c7f394ff356fa0d.jpg

  6. All that is great and all, but they are 1-1 in the Finals without KD and may very well be 1-2 depending on how this year shakes out.  They are 2-0 with Durant.  The season isn't over until it is over.

I am going to enjoy it when Durant says "F the haters" and signs a long contract extension with GSW.  It will be glorious.

  7. I would just like consistency when discussing the topic. Everyone is quick to say that GSW would win > 5 / 10 if 2016 was replayed. But ignores the fact that WITH Durant they were 14 total points away from going to a game 7 in 2017. If that series is played 10 times, I think Cleveland wins 1-2 times WITH Durant and probably 5-6 times without him.

In 2017, if the Houston series is played 10 times, Houston wins 4-5 of them with Durant and a healthy Chris Paul. Without Durant, Houston might win 6-7 of them. And in the 3-4 games that they get by Houston, Cleveland probably beats them a few times out of 10. Probably as many as 5-6 times if Kyrie stays and Durant wasn't in the picture.

Bottom line, odds are slim that without Durant they would have been this dominant. Not even factoring in the outcome if Durant had gone to Boston, San Antonio, or stayed in OKC.

  8. They weren't going to add a fridge all star. Without Durant they would have paid Harrison Barnes and run it back another year. They weren't unbeatable. They were beat with that very squad.

I just will never understand the "they are better with Durant but don't NEED him" viewpoint. They would have won in 2016 with him. Would have likely lost to Cleveland in 2017 without him. And would have lost to Houston in 2017 without him.

    But they don't NEED him.

I'm not ready to give them the title this year either. MIL or TOR will be very tough without Durant.
