The Oilers from 1981 to 1987 were a pile of shit. 87 was the strike year. What Brent Pease was a draw?
And how the hell do you know the attendance numbers from 1988? Is that from a Bud Adams biography?
So you’re like a Superfan who’s mad at Houstonians for shunning the Oilers and forcing Bud Adams to move?
Family member or not, if you’re blocking the entrance to his mausoleum for me to piss on, you’re going down.Lol motherfucker there’s something called the internet dipshit; you’re on it now. That’s where I get attendance numbers; it took all of 20 seconds.
Im not Superfan but I’m tired off hearing all of these credit card millionaires talk about what huge fans they were back in the day. From the point of view of a person who grew up in West Texas and started buying season tickets the day he moved to Houston, you motherfuckers are all full of shit about your fandom. You went to the games when they were good, you completely bailed when they weren’t. Cowboys fans had way more loyalty than you, and you want to pin it all on Bud fucking Adams…

if Matt were 6'3" i could see him carving out a nice career for himself, but he's not very big, so it's going to be an uphill battle. that said, i've known a ton of guys who've had very long careers in Europe, and from where I sit, I would *much* rather be a star player who travels europe, competing for/winning titles as a primary player for 10-15 years than to be some guy who spends his prime busting his ass to try and just stick in the league.
i have a buddy from HS who's played in Greece, France, Monaco, Istanbul, Slovenia, Croatia, Russia, and more. He's been an all-star and a dunk contest champion in France, a league winner in Croatia, he led Monaco to the Basketball Champions League semifinals, he played in the Eurobasket competition as a member of the Bosnian national team, i mean he's done it all. he has a beautiful wife, and three kids who have grown up traveling the world, exposed to all kinds of different cultures and people. i'm telling you man- i would love for Coleman to stick in the league, but i think he could really be a star in Europe, and what's more important, he could be a team leader on some title winning teams. Matt has that competitive spirit and winning mentality, and i'd love to see him spend a decade+ tearing it up in Europe.
Buddy of mine from high school’s younger brother did the same thing and loved every fucking minute of it. It’s an outlet for NBA tweeners that didn’t exist back in the day, and it’s better for players and fans that it exists now…

he got $67 million to renovate The Astrodome that was not even paid off when he started to want another stajium.....$67 million on renovations seems like nothing now, but it was a shit load of money back then and it added 10,000 seats and took out the best score board in all of sports
The $67MM was in exchange for signing a 10 year lease, starting in 1987. In early 1995 ‘negotiations’ started on a new stadium. While it’s technically true that he started making noise about a new stadium ‘before it was paid off’, this doesn’t seem to me to be the same kind of thing as renewing an apartment lease that you kick off 30 days prior to the expiration date. IIRC, he offered to pay 1/3 of the cost of the new stadium…

He killed the Oilers. Flaunted its execution. Why would fans support the Oilers when they seemed to be headed out the door?
Walter O’Malley had good reasons for moving the Dodgers to LA. Never seen Brooklyn natives carrying his water.Fans gave up on the Oilers a full season before negotiations with Nashville began, basically as soon as the game against KC ended. People complained about Adams breaking up the team, but 1994 was the first year of the cap and the Oilers were going to be millions over. Keeping it intact wasn’t an option. Funny, the initial cap was like $34MM; Patrick Mahomes would kill that alone today.
Houston also bailed on the Luv Ya Blue Oilers after the playoff loss against Oakland and stayed away for 8 years. The Oilers won a playoff game in 1987 for the first time in years, and won their 1988 opener on the road. Their home opener the next week against Oakland drew 33K. Band-fucking-wagon…

The city of Houston quit on the Oilers before Bud Adams quit on Houston; anything to the contrary is revisionist history bullshit. I have season ticket stubs with my name on them from those last three years, any of you big fans or your big fan daddy’s can say the same?

We shouldn’t wait until the trade deadline to deal Joey; one of these insane hit streaks is the time to do it. It sucks because I really like Joey as a player, but given his age, contract, arbitration status, we’ll never get a higher return than right now. He’s Gorman Thomas with way better range and a slightly worse arm…

I used to sit in Section 1 on the aisle, Row 44, which is about 12 rows below the upper entry portal for that section (the lower one is at about row 30 or so). For 2:30 kickoffs the people about 10 seats to the north of us were in the shade the entire game, but we were cooking until about 5:30. Until November the sun rides pretty much parallel to the West upper deck most of the afternoon. Higher up than us (maybe row 60 or so?) they were in the shade from pretty much 3-3:30 on. My seats then started at seat 23; not sure how high the seat numbers go before you hit section 2 between the two aisles, but IIRC it’s about 44-48…
One thing I forgot - in section 1, row 44 on the aisle is the precise point at which all of the water pouring out of the upper deck dumps down into the lower. After the epic monsoon delay against Mizzou in 1996 me and my buddy returned to our seats to discover they were at the bottom of Niagara Falls. Fortunately there were only about 15K left in the stadium so there was plenty of room to spread out…

No he's not.
And apparently you didn't finish watching the game you referenced or the rest of the season.
He didn’t play the rest of the Tech game, and he played a total of 12 minutes the next two games, aka the last two games of his career. He went 1-3 from the field and had two rebounds.
What games were you watching, moron?

Lol Arkansas has zero motivation to jump conferences. Their complaints about the SWC were 100% legit in 1990; Nebraska’s in 2010 weren’t….

Probably, but fuck 'em and the entirety of that bitchmade fan base. I'd rather bring back arky, tbh. Sure piggy's fan base is full of uneducated, toothless, hicks, but they don't pretend to be something they aren't. We have a rivalry with Arky....whatever we had with corn can be better described as a prison gangbang.

Allard's overall season stats seem a lot better than he has looked. He throws a lot of batting practice wheelhouse looking stuff. I hope he pans out, but he reminds me a bit of Matt Whiteside. Showing some signs of progress, though.
Lulz at Matt Whiteside…”I’ll have the Whiteside with extra Hector Fajardo sauce”….

How does this work? If I pay XXX per seat donation in Section 6 and I want to move to Section 5 do I have to pay the going rate for seat donation in Section 5? Or just the ticket price? I dont understand this seat upgrade program.
You have to pay whatever the going rate is for the ticket and the donation in your new section….

Tell Me About The Houston Oilers
in Football
Posted
If the City of Houston/Harris County had dug in with a different owner and insisted in 1995 that a stadium with no real luxury suites, with no parking or concession revenue (that was all controlled by Drayton shitbag McLane) was a good deal? Fuck yes, they would have left. Drayton and Bob Lanier were in lockstep about how the Dome was a great place for football and baseball; almost the day the Oilers signed their deal for Tennessee both of those fuckholes started squawking about what a shithole the Dome was and how if Houston didn’t get its shot together he was going to move to DC.
Don’t get me wrong, Bud Adams was a shithead. That’s doesn’t mean he was wrong about his stadium deal…
