Would you prefer people just Looch it up and talk about how super great things look right now?
Actually, yes? Other than the sugar bowl, the only real enjoyment I've squeezed out of this program in the last 10 years is reading off-season fiction.

Lots of spiking the football for keeping homes with power and heat in the year 2022. Good job, I guess?

I have posted it too many times but I left Texas at the tail end of 2019 having lived there all my life. Left Austin specifically. I chose Bend, OR and put a bid in on a house exactly when Covid started shutting everything down. At the time we panicked because plenty were predicting a housing crash. Instead prices have shot up so much I couldn’t afford to buy the house we are in.
I love it here, and am grateful every day for the life I have. There are some “but’s.” You will find it is harder to make good friends. You don’t have the shared history of your long time friends to lean on. Sure, you can make acquaintances. But deep friendships? Challenging, and Covid didn’t help. I am lucky in that I consider my nuclear family my best friends. But still, would be nice to have a pal or two to really hang out with.
If you are moving for political reasons, well yeah Texas is awful. But there is plenty of crazy/stupid everywhere. And that State government you might be OK with is an election cycle or two from changing. Also, the Supreme Court is going to seriously wreck this country over the next few years, imo. So there won’t be a place to hide.
Texas weather was maybe a bigger factor for me than politics at the time.
While I love it here, I am have no idea where we go when retirement age hits. I would look heavily at stable governments with universal health care. I am pretty terrified of some health misfortune bankrupting my family one day.
I've been looking at Bend for awhile now as a possible destination down the road. I'm pretty much stuck in current location unless I make a major career change, but love the idea of getting up there closer to retirement age.

Bill Hicks's "kill yourself" advice should probably expand to TV execs.

Social media will be the end of us, for sure.

On the bright side, corporate media shilling for big pharma was wrong, and scientists and doctors looking at data and results were right.

A Japanese conglomerate has found that the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin is effective and safe for the treatment of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, according to a phase III clinical trial.
Kowa Co. Ltd., a conglomerate with interests in trading, hospitality, electronics, along with health and medical applications, issued a press release (pdf) on Jan. 31 stating that ivermectin has been found to be effective against Omicron.
The company, working with Kitasato University based in Tokyo, said that ivermectin has the “same antiviral effect” on all “mutant strains” including alpha, delta, and Omicron. Kowa added that ivermectin suppresses invasion of the virus and inhibits its replication.
“[Ivermectin] is expected to be applied as a therapeutic drug (tablet) for all new coronavirus infectious diseases,” said the report.

The easiest thing in the world is to plant some Fed with a flag and play it as look at all these racists like Trudeau did. Who wears a mask at an anti mandate rally? Come on.
What’s the angle here if it’s real? Why are white supremacists and nazis so against vaccine mandates that they want to rep themselves at a protest?
Lol, now "just asking questions" about Nazis huh.

Last week my wife called me in a frantic state saying "the garage door is stuck open! I have a meeting in 10 mins and cannot just leave the garage door like this!"
Could immediately tell that she was irate at having to deal with this. I even contemplated leaving work, driving across town, and closing the door so that she wouldn't leave the garage door open all day.
Turns out she began backing out of the driveway a bit too soon, she crashed into the door, cracking the wooden garage door and sending wooden shards all over the driveway, then couldn't extricate her car from the situation as it was "stuck" to the door.
Her original call just described "the garage door not closing properly."

Read up on Josef Mengele. It might help.
QuoteThe experiments he performed on twins included unnecessary amputation of limbs, intentionally infecting one twin with typhus or some other disease, and transfusing the blood of one twin into the other. Many of the victims died while undergoing these procedures,[51] and those who survived the experiments were sometimes killed and their bodies dissected once Mengele had no further use for them.[52] Nyiszli recalled one occasion on which Mengele personally killed fourteen twins in one night by injecting their hearts with chloroform.[32] If one twin died from disease, he would kill the other twin to allow comparative post-mortem reports to be produced for research purposes.[53]
Mengele's eye experiments included attempts to change the eye color by injecting chemicals into the eyes of living subjects, and he killed people with heterochromatic eyes so that the eyes could be removed and sent to Berlin for study.[54] His experiments on dwarfs and people with physical abnormalities included taking physical measurements, drawing blood, extracting healthy teeth, and treatment with unnecessary drugs and X-rays.[4] Many of his victims were dispatched to the gas chambers after about two weeks, and their skeletons were sent to Berlin for further analysis.[55] Mengele sought out pregnant women, on whom he would perform experiments before sending them to the gas chambers.[56] Alex Dekel, a survivor, reports witnessing Mengele performing vivisection without anesthesia, removing hearts and stomachs of victims.[57] Yitzhak Ganon, another survivor, reported in 2009 how Mengele removed his kidney without anesthesia. He was forced to return to work without painkillers.[58] Witness Vera Alexander described how Mengele sewed two Romani twins together, back to back, in a crude attempt to create conjoined twins;[51] both children died of gangrene after several days of suffering.[59]
Ok. I did.
Make your point.
