Holy crap, we threw out a base stealer.

I’m about 2/3 through this and have liked it a lot. I’ve read several other books from Coll and enjoyed them all.

Playing in our club’s junior championship when I was 12, the first hole is a par three. Knock it stiff within two feet and proceed to miss the putt. Knocked the shit out of my drive on the next tee but it finds some British Open type rough, we’re talking knee high hay. I think it took five shots to get back in the fairway. Third tee, skull the tee shot into the tee box in front of us, hits a tee marker and flies 20 yards behind me.
The rest of the round kept was worse.

When I was 19 years old I found a drivers license of someone that was 21 years old in a parking lot. Thing is, the person on the license could have been my twin. I used that ID for two years with never so much as a second glance. Definitely worth its weight in gold for an underage college student.

Easily the lowest attendance game I’ve ever been to, did anyone catch if they announced the total on the broadcast?
Box score says 9,675. Monday's game was supposedly 7,360.

Not for long.

About three months after switching companies I found an extra deposit from my original employer of $95K in my bank account.
It was very nice of them to give me such a generous and unexpected parting gift.

Also, I love Pruitt’s excuse for flying first class everywhere. Security. Poor people are dangerous. Rich people, I’m fine with.
I fly business to stay away from the poors, but I'm spending my own money and not taxpayer dollars.

Yep. If they think Obamacare is bad, they really don't want to know what's coming.
And we're actually going to take away all the guns. Can't wait.

We're like the Yankees last year. Run differential is all from blowouts
And the Yankees are like last year's Astros, get every clutch hit and bit of luck imaginable.

Most likely they'd do something even more foolish with that money.
Yep, like building the interstate highway system, the military you and your kind think can never be big enough, or putting people on the moon.

Brief List-
Ran into Little Richard in an elevator in Los Angeles at the Hyatt. He started chatting me up and when he found out I was from Houston, got all excited because Houston was one of the places he got his start. He then proceeded to hand me a bunch of religious material for whatever conference he was attending and told me to give all the people in Houston his love. As flamboyant in real life as his on stage persona.
Had a meal stolen by Ben Affleck - we were at some restaurant he was a part owner of and he was having a post Golden Globes party there and apparently whatever I ordered was his favorite dish. He was pretty intoxicated and just grabbed it from the kitchen. Our meal was comped and Ben apologized. I do remember seeing him emerge from the upstairs room where the party was happening, each time a bit more intoxicated. Think the last time we saw him, the ladies he was coming down the stairs to meet had to help him back upstairs.
Chatted up Luke Wilson at the bar at the Four Seasons in Austin while he was ordering a plethora of tequila shots to take back up to his room. He was filming Idiocracy at the time.
Owned a rehearsal studio for a while in NW Houston and before the 2004 Super Bowl we hosted Toby Keith, his band, and another group of All-Stars, which included Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, Sammy Hagar, Chad Smith (Drummer for RHCP), Waymon Tisdale (who was a kick-ass bassist) and DMC from Run DMC. By far, the coolest of the dudes was DMC, who hung with us in one of the back rooms while our band was jammin with some of the roadies from Toby Keith's band. We later hooked him up with some beer as well. Also talked up Chad Smith a bit. Biggest primadonna of the bunch with Toby Keith....he didn't want anything to do with us, but the other dudes were cool (although Sammy came and went quickly, we really didn't see much of him).
Paul Wall was also a regular at our studio
Been in Arianna Huffington's house in LA back in the late 90's. My wife worked for her in DC briefly and Arianna invited us to her house when we were out in LA. Loved Arianna's mother who was living with her at the time - Yia Yia. She tried to give Arianna's baby grand piano away to me
Dude... anything you want to get off your chest?

People who recline their seat before the door is closed. Only trivial because it's not my bull getting gored. I'm fucked if we catch fire, though.
Edit: the universe has a sense of humor, apparently my seat was reclined a bit when I got here
What in the hell are you talking about?

It’s not a real college.

Just to clarify
This year's Kershaw is 1-4, but he has a 2.86 ERA. He would make a great mid reliever for the Astros.
Think we can get the Dodgers to bite on a straight up deal of Kershaw for Sipp? Maybe throw in Gattis if they try to drive a hard bargain?

My son left on his school trip yesterday afternoon. When his little sister got up this morning were the first words out of her mouth asking if he got there safely? No, first words were “Did the Astros win?”
In her defense, first thing I did when I got up was check the box score, then checked the emails to make sure the boy and his classmates arrived safely.
Get some!!!

I hope whoever taught our starting pitchers how to grease up the ball gets around to teaching the bullpen how to do it. Because when they figure it out, the rest of the teams are proper fuckt.

Can we go back to having Reddick at clean-up and Yuli as the #5? Seems like the offense was more woke with that little wobble in the lineup.

That’s odd. Maybe there is a reason they aren’t using Devo that way anymore.
Yes, it is extremely odd especially when you consider our starters are going way deeper into games than the starters did last year. It's not like the bullpen is pitching a ton of innings early like they did last year. An extra inning for Devo yesterday would have meant fuck all.
