  1. I'm not sure that we'll see any more than we already saw. It wasn't much of a "face off." He walked into Jabba's palace and blasted him. That's definitely what Filoni does. Filoni/Faverau also understand how to make great Star Wars stories without just copying what Lucas did. (*cough* J.J. Abrams *cough*). They pull inspiration from the same places Lucas did... Westerns, Samuri movies, WWII movies, etc., and tell great stories within that framework. I love using the Tuscans as proxies for Native American/Maori culture. Very cool. Also - holy shit "The Twins" were great... as was the merc Wookie. Looking forward to more of that.
  2. Oh FFS. Like Texas Tech invented the concept of making your hand look like a gun. Our mascot is PISTOL Pete. Maybe -- and I'm just spitballing here -- our fans thought it made sense to do a "gun sign" with their hands because our mascot is PISTOL Pete. We've been doing that shit forever, and long before the Big 12 formed and Texas Tech was on anybody from OSU's radar.
  3. Look, Sanders isn’t an NFL QB or anything, but he’s way better than most people think. He was literally the only piece of the offense this year that wasn’t down with an injury for at least part of the year. I think we had like 2-3 games all year where the offense was (more or less) 100% healthy. At the beginning of the year, we had like 1-2 scholarship WRs available for the first month of the season; and outside of Tay Martin, the entire group are all freshmen and sophomores, which led to a lot of inconsistency in the passing game in general. Toward the end of the season, we started losing pieces again, with the biggest being losing the starting center Godlevsky and then Warren for the Big 12 title game, which is what forced Sanders to throw like 50 times and throw the 4 picks. That’s not his game. When Sanders had a somewhat healthy offense around him he was mostly great this year, culminating with yesterday putting up nearly 500 yards of offense against a really good defense. So to answer the question, no I don’t think the defense will be as good next year, but it will still be pretty decent. I think the offense will be significantly better with the WR group being a year older as well as some new pieces coming in on the OL and RB group.
  4. Interesting. The trailer makes it look like horri-bad Hallmark Movie of the Week shit with some Jeebus sprinkles.
  5. Pretty typical season 1 / episode 1 for Filoni. The needed to spend the time showing how Boba escaped from the Sarlacc and set the stage for the rest of the season. Felt like they did a good job on both fronts.
  6. Bummer about the ACL show. Great Texas Monthly article, though. I’m REALLY looking forward to this album.
  7. Fan-fucking-tastic. Happy for our Tech friends. SEC SEC SEC can eat gigantic bag of dicks. 0-4 upcoming, bitches.
  8. Go Fighting Holgys! Are we still allowed to make fun of SEC SEC SEC on this site? 😄
  9. I do too! It was actually the first record I got when I got back in to vinyl. I got it as a gift the first year when I got my new turntable. It was very well taken care of over the years and sounds freaking incredible.
  10. I think it’ll be fine. It’ll be like Ashoka last season. You don’t need to have watched the animated series or know who Ashoka was before seeing her in the Mandalorian, but it’ll be like a special treat for the people who have watched those series.
  11. It’s interesting you say that. I remember thinking when Gundy took over, “man… if we could be like Texas Tech that would be great…”. At the time, Tech was the clear next-best program in the Big 12 South after OU/Texas. Getting to their level of winning seemed like a realistic goal. Once Gundy started beating them consistently and then especially when Leach left, it felt like our programs just pivoted in opposite directions. Gundy just kept winning and it feels like Tech has been wandering in the wilderness now for a decade.
  12. I’m not sure how the restoration is working exactly, but I just checked and I have everything back now, including stuff that was recorded.
  13. Thank Christ. I was not excited about going to Hulu or something else. Love YTTV. If I have to pay a few extra bucks to keep the cunts at the Mouse satisfied then so be it. Was NOT excited about the Hulu bullshit of limited recording and fucking making you watch ads on shit you recorded. That’s some BULLSHIT.
  14. Oh OK. What you’re describing is what I always thought of as a “remix.” If it’s just a “remaster” I always thought that meant just going back to the master tapes and getting better/more clear/higher fidelity/etc. version of the same “mix.” Anywho - is that what they did with Abbey Road? I know they went back and re-did the original stereo mixes of Sgt. Peppers and maybe Revolver? So it didn’t have that weird extreme separation thing going on, but Abbey Road was originally mixed in stereo wasn’t it?
  15. Huh? I’m not following. Did they actually remix Abbey Road or just remaster it? If it’s the latter, nothing really was changed, was it? Of the various mixes out there of Let it Be, I actually like the Giles Martin mix the best. It dials back the Phil Specter stuff without totally getting rid of it and makes it feel like a more coherent album. I thought Let it Be Naked was OK but I didn’t like the re-ordering of the tracks (probably because I’m used to hearing them in a certain order) and the abrupt fade-outs was annoying. I thought the best parts of Let it Be Naked was it had the best version of “Across the Universe” and also the inclusion of “Don’t Let Me Down.”
  16. Just wanted to say… fuck all of these fucking cunts… primarily mother fuck fucking ESPN. I’ve loved YTTV and hate to drop it, but so be it. I’ll go back when they finally strike a deal with the cunts in Bristol.
  17. Another of my favorite made up thing: Hennigan’s Scotch. Always wondered what was the best made-up Scotch: Hennigans or Glengoolie Blue? Gotta think Archer had the more expensive taste, so Glengoolie Blue is probably the way to go.
  18. Definitely not Reggie’s. No big salad there. Such bullshit.
  19. Yeah it counts. Nobody wanted to see “Blame it on the Rain” either.
  20. That presupposes I read the thread before I just jump in and post.
