  1. This. As for those estimates above, I'd love to understand what is driving the PAC to go from the lowest P5 payout in 2022-23 to the third highest after the SEC/B1G by 2029. Are the PAC schools going to get *more* engaged in CFB over the next decade? The new Big 12 will easily keep par with the PAC and ACC, and probably exceed the PAC just based on viewership/fan engagement down the road.
  2. Yep. I'm also very much looking forward to more stuff with surly/grumpy Kareem.
  3. LOL that killed me. Another great episode last night. Loved all of the stuff with Buss and Red Auerbach. Reiley continues to kill it.
  4. Agreed on both counts. Broadcast News is one of the top 10 favorite films of all time. The amazing thing is that it basically predicted where we were going with "newswertainment" in the mid/late 80s. And yeah he was fantastic as Hank Paulson in Too Big to Fail. "The Big Short" and "Too Big to Fail" make a great double feature. The cool thing is that, in terms of the timeline, Too Big to Fail picks up almost exactly where The Big Short leaves off. And also agreed that The Big Chill is great. I always loved his timing/delivery of this line when he's in the car with Mary Kay Place leaving the funeral: MKP: "The last time I spoke with Alex, we had an argument..." WH: ....[beat]... "That's probably why he killed himself."
  5. Oh don't worry. We can still blame Kathleen Kennedy for any parts of the Obi-Wan series that we don't like.
  6. Yes. It's quite choice. I've been listening to it a lot.
  7. Agreed. I will admit that I haven't seen it as much as other episodes since they yanked it from syndication years ago. But my wife (no pics) and I are huge Seinfeld fans and have re-watched the entire series multiple times on Hulu/Netflix. The Puerto Rican Day episode is almost aggressively un-funny and really stands out even among some of the more absurd episodes of the last two seasons. I mean, don't get me wrong... I love, love, love me a good Cedric and Bob appearance, but the whole episode is just very meh.
  8. Pre-pandemic I was down in Austin pretty regularly. I have several friends who live there, including my two best friends from OSU. I never made it down for a baseball series, just because timing never worked out, but I think I made just about every OSU football game down there for 10+ years, plus lots of other trips for weddings, SXSW, ACL Live concerts at Moody, etc. Now I've got a 1-year-old and another on the way so the road trips may dry up for a while, lol. Although Southwest just added a direct flight from Tulsa to Austin, so that will help the cause.
  9. I mean a lot of it is just shit luck with untimely hitting. We got swept by Gonzaga at home. All three games were 1-run games that could have gone either way. We were literally 3 hits away from sweeping that series instead of getting swept. That’s baseball, baby. Josh’s teams always start kind of slow. And our non-conference schedule is good enough that the RPI should be very strong once we get our feet under ourselves.
  10. I like your style, Lincoln. Completely unspoiled, man.
  11. Maybe. What we know about Maul is that he was still running Crimson Dawn during the events of Solo, which would be right around or maybe slightly after the events of Obi-wan, and then at some point (we don't know for sure) he crash lands on Malachor and is there for "years" before Ezra and Kanan find him there a few years before ANH. So I think most likely he's running Crimson Dawn at this point. We'll see. I just think the show is going to focus more on the Jedi purge and since the Maul stuff and his rivalry with Kenobi has been covered extensively elsewhere, I think there's less of a chance we'll see him. I think there's a decent chance we'll see a young Caleb Dune/Kanan though.
  12. I'd be surprised if we get Maul. I think this mostly takes place about 10 years before ANH. That confrontation with Maul takes place like maybe 1-2 years before ANH.
  13. More likely gonna end with Obi-Wan taking out everyone/anyone who knows with extreme prejudice.
  14. Looks great. Joel Edgerton looking more like grumpy Uncle Owen from ANH, lol.
  15. LOL yes. And always remember Larry's and Jerry's mantra for the show: "No hugging. No learning."
  16. Ha yeah I think "quality" is really colored by your own experiences. Nothing will ever compare to the feeling of watching your favorite sport(s) when you were a kid, so (for most people at least) every sport was "better" when they were young. Also - when remembering sports in the past, people only selectively remember the best parts - the best games, the big championship moments, etc. In the NBA 80s example, everyone just talks about the Lakers/Celtics finals... nobody talks about a random Wednesday night game in February 1983 between Sacramento and Milwaukee. There were plenty of bad/unwatchable games in the 80s.... it's just nobody remembers them.
  17. That's definitely an Adam McKay thing. He only directed the first episode, so it will be interesting to see if his particular stylistic choices are carried forward.
  18. I noticed that, too. One interesting note is that the 1979-80 season was the first season of the 3-point line in the NBA.
  19. Also related - So I guess this series caused a huge falling out between Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. Of course the two guys have worked together for years including starting a production company (Gary Sanchez Productions) that produced all of McKay's prestige stuff (The Big Short, Vice, Succession, etc.) So I guess Will Ferrell really wanted to play Jerry Buss, but Michael Shannon was initially cast in the role, and Ferrell was fine with that apparently; however, Shannon left after production started, and McKay re-cast John C. Reilly (who is one of Ferrell's best friends) as Buss but didn't tell Ferrell. McKay made the right call at the end of the day, just crazy that it (apparently) has ended their friendship.
  20. "Fever Dog" slams and goes hard.
