  1. I'm not sure I agree with that. Logan probably has sociopathic tendencies. The kids are all fucked up in different ways specifically because of Logan.
  2. You guys complaining about "the plot" are missing the whole point of the show. The machinations of the attempted takeover, the attempted acquisitions, etc., are completely incidental and 100% not what the show is about. The show is about the Roy family and their interactions. All of various corporate shit are just things that happen so we can see how the family reacts/interacts/responds.
  3. John was definitely kind of an asshole. That's not really disputable.
  4. LOL yes. John seems very much like the chaos agent I always assumed he was. It had to drive George mad. One minute, John is consoling George and encouraging him... the next minute he's joking and making light of the India trip with Paul right in front of George. LOL
  5. I don't know. Just based on what I saw in the film, I don't think they took any of that stuff seriously. They were literally reading the tabloid stuff out loud and laughing about it. I think the simpler explanation is that they just got busy with their lives doing different things. And they were separated by an Ocean also. John was living in New York while the others mostly stayed in the U.K. The sheer physical distance had to play a part. At any rate, I think that they almost certainly would have played together again and possibly made more music had John not been killed.
  6. Yeah I've thought about this a lot because this thing really changed my perception about this era of the band. I just feel like the narrative out there (at least in my perception) was that the Get Back sessions were a miserable slog that "broke" the band. I didn't see that AT ALL. I get that some people will say they may have been hamming it up for the cameras, but over THIS MANY hours of footage, I just don't buy the "they all hated each other" narrative at all. There was obviously tension at Twickenham because (a) it was almost totally unstructured and (b) George was feeling disrespected. But once George came back and they were at Apple with George Martin being a more consistent presence to keep things moving, this was undoubtedly a bunch of guys mostly having a great time. And yeah, in later years John specifically talked shit about these sessions, but that was probably selective memory based on other issues. I don't care what he said later, John was having as much fun as the rest of them. I just feel like the band ended probably because of some internal tension but also just because these guys had been together for a LONG TIME and done a TON of stuff at this point. Paul probably would have kept it going because he seems like he's the one who is most into "the band" aspect of it, but clearly George was ready to do his own thing, as was John. It doesn't mean they hated each other it just means they were ready for something new, IMO.
  7. Yeah and as impressive as I think it is, I will say that one reason for The Beatles’ crazy productivity was they stopped touring in 1966. It’s definitely easier to just crank out one album after another when you aren’t spending 6-8 months out of the year touring the world and playing shows. But of course it’s the combination of quantity AND quality that really makes them special.
  8. By the way, I did finally finish the doc last night. The concert stuff at the end was worth the wait. It was all just so great, from the concert itself to all of the "on-the-street" reactions to the two Bobbies who come in to Apple Corp to try and shut the concert down.... those two... First off, they both looked like they were about 20 years old. Secondly, they seemed like characters in an Armando Iaanucci show, lol.
  9. I get that, but even by the standards of the 60s and 70s, the Beatles put out an amazing amount of content in a relatively short period of time and at a very young age. In the Stones example, yeah they released those four albums from 1968-1972. In roughly the same amount of time, from late 1965 to late 1969/early 1970, the Beatles released: Rubber Soul Revolver Sgt. Peppers Magical Mystery Tour The White Album Abbey Road Let it Be Plus at least another album or two worth of singles. When you consider the White Album was a double album, plus all of the singles, they basically released ~9 albums worth of material in just over 4 years. That seems pretty insane to me.
  10. Yeah I don't think Ken is dead. It wouldn't surprise me if he died at *some point* in the show, but an ambiguous death scene in the penultimate episode of season 3 doesn't feel like something this show would do.
  11. Yeah I'm in the camp of it's a bullshit move that shouldn't be legal. To me the slide is no different than a fair catch. You are signaling to the defense that you are forfeiting your ability to advance the ball in exchange for not being hit/tackled. You can't fake a fair catch and then return it. You shouldn't be able to fake a slide either.
  12. Yeah and as Beato pointed out... ALL of that was before any of them were 30. That's completely and utterly insane.
  13. Yep. Someone posted the timeline upthread, but yeah... they recorded Abbey Road primarily in the summer of 1969 after the Get Back sessions in January. Then it was released in September of '69. Then they finally released Let it Be in May of 1970, a good 15 months or so after the Get Back sessions.
  14. Also - it was super interesting to me to hear how many songs off Abbey Road were worked on, or at least started, during the Get Back sessions. I think we heard them working on damn near the whole album. Off the top of my head, pretty sure we at least heard parts of: Something Maxwell’s Silver Hammer Octopuss’s Garden Oh Darling You Never Give Me Your Money She Came in Through the Bathroom Window Polythene Pam Carry That Weight Her Majesty
  15. I always kind of considered Rubber Soul the inflection point between “early Beatles” and “later Beatles.” My vinyl collection starts at Rubber Soul. I prefer the later stuff, but I do like the early stuff and understand why it was so popular.
  16. BYU also probably better. The PAC 12 and ACC are mostly dogshit. The new Big 12 will be just fine.
  17. LOL that’s adorable. Those of us who have been watching OSU for decades know better. I’m actually more nervous now.
  18. OSU playing in the Big 12 championship as the favorite with a trip to the CFP Playoff on the line? Nothing could possibly go wrong. Yes I’m already drinking.
  19. Agreed. But it’s the only logical explanation.
  20. Most of my favorites have been mentioned. But unless I missed it, has anyone mentioned SPY GAME? Fucking love that movie. Also, don’t know if it counts as a “Cold War” movie, per se, but thinking about Spy Game also reminded me of SNEAKERS, which is also fantastic.
  21. Bowlsby missed a prime opportunity to dig Riley for avoiding SECSECSEC. ”I mean, I guess it seems like not everyone at OU was on board with the move to the SEC” would have been gold.
  22. Yeah agreed that this documentary just confirms everything I’ve ever thought about Yoko. She must have been just an absolutely positively dynamite in the sack. It’s the only explanation for John being completely infatuated with her stupid annoying ass.
