They are not putting the usmnt C team in NRG for the semis, they wouldn’t sell out 22k bbva stadium.   El Tri will be in NRG

There is a reason there is such a huge difference in stadium sizes.

    Exactly

  2. Returned last night from a 3 night comped stay at Palazzo. Great time, great food, lost some money as usual. In other words, perfectly normal trip for me which is really nice after the last year. A few thoughts:

1 - Crowds are a bit “interesting.” Imagine if the downtown crowds invaded the Strip. Some real shit shows, but didn’t see any major issues though. Hot as hell so didn’t spend much time outside walking. Too many little kids with their parents out too late at night and too many people wearing not enough clothing to cover their very large bodies but you be you, Vegas vacationers!

2 - best dinner of the trip - Carbone. All around fantastic meal. Our whole group raved about it. Highly recommend. Also enjoyed Beauty & Essex and Capital Grille and of course the Saturday brunch at Bouchon was perfect as always. Chica also very good for brunch. We ate really well.

3 - Table limits are pretty high. Lots of lame $25-100 6/5 BJ tables. Saw a 6/4 2-deck BJ table at Venetian but it was a $100/minimum. During the early part of the day you could find some $15 BJ and Craps on the strip but not at night.

4 - decided to go off Strip Saturday afternoon for some low limits gambling and ended up having a blast at Ellis island. Nothing fancy but the dealers were fun, they brew their own beer and everyone was in good spirits. Actually had more fun gambling there than on the strip. Played $5 roulette and $10 Craps and BJ here.

5 - Got to see the US winning goal vs Mexico at the Cosmo sports book. That was fun!

6 - Vegas was packed, as in wall to wall bodies. Felt like a fight weekend. Maybe 10% wearing masks. Some casinos had plastic up between dealers and gamblers, no dividers between gamblers. Otherwise no sign of Covid precautions. Basically normal. Loved it.

7 - didn’t love the asswipes who made two of our group late to Vegas because they had to create problems over the mask mandate and their planes had to return to the gate to let them off. How the heck do people buy tickets to fly and then decide they have to make such a scene that they get kicked off the flight? It’s a couple hours folks! How selfish can you get!?!? Hope it was worth it, assholes!

8 - never waited more than 10 minutes for a cab or Uber, day or night.

9 - Used Presidential limo for rides to and from airport. On time, great service, but man they are hard to get ahold of online or via phone.

10 - second time to see Absinthe. Everyone loved it. Of course it was packed out as well. Very raunchy humor which we loved but not a show for folks who don’t enjoy very off color sexual humor. I would not take my 70-something year old parents but our group in our 20s - 50s had a blast.

11 - Palazzo pool was very busy as was the connected Venetian pool deck. Venetian a bit louder. Got a cabana at Palazzo, enjoyed the peacefulness, and was glad not having to fight the crowds for a spot. Pricey though.

What are the craps tables going to look like this summer?  All the plexiglass, phone booth shit going to be a thing of the past?

I believe that’s already been removed, at least in most places. I’ll be able to confirm this weekend.

Anyone stayed at the Vdara?  If so, is it worth it and would you stay there again?

I have. Nice if you want a nonsmoking lobby and no casino. Quick walk over to Aria or back route to Cosmopolitan isn’t bad either. Rooms were very nice. Would do again but I can see how some would miss having the casino next door.

Sorry, just the organized cheer stuff feels Aggy to me. I know it’s not, that’s just my frame of reference. I support it, didn’t mean to be negative.

Got back late Sat. night after a 2 day trip.

Complete shit show.  Buddy has a host at MGM that has taken very good care of him in the past (his average bet is around $800-1000/hand).

Won't be going back there.  If we go back this year, it's the Wynn, Aria, or maybe Bellagio.

It was prison conjugal trailer visit bad.  Restaurants, even the higher end places, were like an adult Chuck-E-Cheese with people screaming, yelling, and even fucking singing (loudly and badly) during a dinner service.  Just a bunch of garbage people that think they're back at home and can do whatever the fuck they want.

The Uber ride to the airport was the best part of the trip.

    Interesting. Where were you eating?

  7. Watched the match at Lustre Pearl south on Manchaca. Los Verdes are rowdy. A bit aggy for me with their organized cheers but pretty fun actually and some smoking hot Hispanic chicks made for some pleasant diversions. I thought we’d lose 2-0. Not sure I’ve ever been so satisfied with a tie.

Also, guy upthread asked about Le Cirque. If it is open and you want to spend the money, go. There isn’t a “Wynn equivalent”, sorry. I’ve been to Michelin rated restaurants all over the US and Europe and that place is as good as any of them and anyone arguing otherwise is simply ignorant or full of shit. Careful though, if you’re going to do it, do it right. Assume a min $500ppa and I’ve never left under $800ppa.

Yeah it’s really good and I agree - good stuff at Wynn but not quite that level. Went a few years back. They did have a three course fixed price deal that’s fantastic and not that ridiculous if you want to keep the price down.

I haven’t been in years but if you want a similar high end meal Picasso is pretty fantastic.

The Las Vegas brunch scene gets an LA favorite version this weekend when Catch at Aria starts serving. The Instagram-worthy seafood restaurant brings its LA brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The restaurant rolls out breakfast fare including cinnamon roll pancakes with brown sugar cinnamon swirl, candied almonds, and cream cheese frosting and a waffle tower created with maple, milk chocolate, and raspberry ice cream, chocolate ganache, raspberry jam, and toasted almonds. On the savory side of breakfast comes steak and eggs and an egg white omelet with turkey bacon, artichoke, arugula, caramelized onions, and goat cheese.

The restaurant even offers a tuna poke bowl and a coconut kale chicken salad, as well as some Catch classic dishes such as A5 Japanese Miyazaki wagyu, prepared table side on a hot stone; mushroom spaghetti with wild mushroom, snow peas, tomato, and Parmesan cheese; and crunchy rice cakes with tuna tartare, wasabi, and tobiko.

Seafood options include truffle sashimi with tuna, hamachi, chili ponzu, caviar, and black truffle purée; a tartare trio with salmon, hamachi, tobiko, and wasabi crème fraiche; the Catch Roll with crab, salmon and miso honey; the Hellfire Roll with spicy tuna two ways, pear, and balsamic; and the MRC Roll with seared tuna, shrimp, avocado, ponzu, and brown butter.

Bloody Marys, mimosas, Bellinis, and more make an appearance as well.

    For reservations, call 877-230-2742.

    Sounds delightful

  10. Bought 5 yesterday in the premium terrace one section over from my season tickets near midfield. My butt is gonna appreciate the padded seats up there this season and the view is phenomenal, basically the view you would get from a TV camera a little bit below the press box.

Ok, so those of you with jersey's what do you think? Authentic or Replica?

I'm very happy with my authentic jersey. Haven't seen a replica in person to be able to compare. I'm somewhere between a L and XL with most shirts and the L fits me great.

I’ve never understood going to Vegas and being excited about the room. If I’m doing anything in there other than scoring, sleeping, shitting, showering, I’m doing Vegas wrong.

I don’t know man, I love fancy hotel rooms. In Vegas and everywhere else.

  13. Picked up 5 tickets to the US Women's game at Q2 on 6/16. Prices ranged from 50ish to 125 plus fees, unless you wanted to pay the stupid platinum upcharge stuff that was in the 500-1000 range.

It's not that you dicked around. I don't know anybody who got in. Tickets were gone in minutes.

Think they significantly reduced capacity this year? Don't ever remember the 3 days and single days going in minutes like they did this year. Hell, some years tickets would be available for weeks. I know it's post-Covid and everyone wants to get out, but it seemed strange how quickly they went.

  15. Can’t go wrong with Encore. Go to Absinthe if you want a show - funny raunchy version of a Cirque show. Best show in Vegas IMO. Too many good restaurants to mention at the Wynn complex or across street at Venetian/Palazzo. We’re trying Beauty and Essex at Cosmo on our upcoming trip. Get brunch at Bouchon for sure - it’s a must for us every trip.

  16. Did my stadium tour today. Place is badass. Gonna be a lot of fun when it’s packed out. Had a couple beers up Braker at Hopsquad after.

After the tour we went into the Verde store and ran into Josh Wolff which was pretty cool. Very nice guy, quite enthusiastic about Austin and chatted with us for several minutes without acting like we were bothering him. Dude looks very fit and young for 44 years old. I guess playing soccer every day will do that for you.

He loves seeing the enthusiasm of the watch parties. Said it reminds him of the watch parties when he was playing for the national team but feels more fun and personal because he always felt a little removed from it then because they were usually off in some other country. Said the road trips are getting a bit tough on the team but he doesn’t want them to let up or make excuses. Full speed ahead.  Said the same day travel to and from due to Covid kind of sucks because they don’t quite get the normal team bonding that you get on road trips, staying at team hotel, eating a pregame dinner night before, etc. They are very much looking forward to playing at home.

I asked him if he speaks Spanish and he said somewhat and he’s getting better and many team members are working on their English. Said he took advantage of Covid to take some Spanish classes because he knew he’d need it. He was shopping with his wife and on the way out I asked if he gets a discount  and he laughed and said - a very small one but they take pretty good care of me

I’ll try to post a couple pics. Didn’t get one with Wolff. Figured we were fan boying enough.
