  1. Another awesome fucking weekend in New Orleans. We took my son and his fiancé and my sister. Fiancé and sister’s first time so we did some touristy shit. I’ll just list some of the places we went  in no particular order - Felix’s, Pat O’s, Atchafalaya, Sazerac Bar at Roosevelt, Carousel Bar, Vampire Bar, random bars in Metairie while watching St Paddies Day parade, Shaya, Paladar 511, Who Dat Coffee, Ragin Cajun swamp airboat tour, true crime tour, Aunt Tikis, Marie’s Bar, Elysian Bar, French 75 Bar, Spotted Cat. Didn’t hit half the places I wanted to. This place is ridiculous.

I have this gut feeling that we are gonna play UNC in the first round and get beat.  I have no clue if their projected seed matches with ours or not, but its very on brand of us to get matched against a basketball powerhouse that is having a down year, only for them to play their best game in march and beat us.

All I want is 1 tournament game win.  That is all I need to consider this season a success.

Except we own UNC in basketball.

  3. Heading to NOLA on Saturday. Can’t fucking wait! Felix’s the first night, Shaya the second, undecided on the third. Gonna get Sunday brunch at Atchafalaya, another at Ruby Slipper. Plan to hit lots of bars, happy hour at Superior Seafood, have reservations at Jewel of the South for cocktails, etc. what did I leave out? Any favorite dive bar recommendations?

Thanks.  That helps a lot.  Def going with the gummie option.  The D9s relax and help me sleep.  I want to try something different.

If you’re an amateur like me, I highly recommend getting one of those little vape pens to smoke. It’s literally the size of a pen. Totally inconspicuous and you can just take little puffs on it whenever you want. Did this for March Madness a couple years ago. Great experience. Can’t wait until they’re legal in Texas.

  5. If the pool at the Hotel St. George is open and weather cooperates, it's worth a stop. I think non-guests have to pay. Has a bar and food. Check out the Balmorhea state park website as they've had lots of closures for repairs in recent years and you don't want to make that drive for nothing. Well worth it if it's open and warm enough to swim.

  6. We stayed outside the city center, kind of in the suburbs, a few years ago and used the public busses to get to and from our place. Quite easy and reliable. Used cabs from time to time to. They weren't big on Uber/Lyft if I remember correctly, strong taxi union or something.

Once had a buddy check 3/4 of a case of Natty Light at the Hard Rock for a couple hours while we played blackjack. We were drunken stumbling from casino to casino and he was tired of dragging it around. Won some money, grabbed the case, tipped the bellhop 5 bucks and off we went. Classy.

Actually it wasn't Natty Light, it was Keystone Light. Only beer the guy would drink - strange choice in beverages but we still drank them all while walking down the Strip.

Probably a stupid question, but, again, we've never been to Vegas.

It's not going to be an issue to check our luggage in early is it?  We're staying at the Venetian.  Flight gets in at like 8AM.  Obviously, we don't want to haul this crap around Vegas for several hours.  The plan is to check the luggage, explore the area, then check in when able.

  9. Is Valencia a CB? Got that impression from how they described him as someone who would allow our offensive minded midfielders (Ring?) to play more forward.

The wife and I are taking our sons for their birthdays (one turned 25 and the other is about to turn 21) in two weeks. boys have never been. Wife and I have been 7 or 8 times.

I want to take boys to a show. Has anyone been to Beatles Love?  None of us are huge Beatles fans, but I figure the show would probably be cool. What I read about O sounded really cool, but it’s about double the price. We aren’t surly rich, and I’m basically just wanting the boys to experience a Vegas show, so not really wanting to spend more than I need to.

Absinthe for sure, if y'all have dirty senses of humor and don't mind being around your kids for sex jokes. We took our kids and all had a blast. That said, I've seen Love and enjoyed it and I'm not a Beetles fan. It's full of good music and visuals. Once was enough though.

  13. Gonna see Deer Tick and Trampled by Turtles at Stubbs tomorrow night. Alt-J and Portugal. The Man in Houston in March. Will be in Colorado Springs in May and hoping to see something at Red Rocks since I’ve never been, but no plans yet.
