  1. I like JT, but he has struggled the last couple of years. Wish him the best. Hook’em!!!
  2. I think the “brand” will help itself. Back in my HS days (80s) UT Pan American hosted the Border Olympics and attracted schools from nationwide, especially college golf. Hook’em!!!
  3. Eye adjustments required after watching a game there (UCA). But there is no worse field color for TV in the FCS than Eastern Washington. Goal line to goal line the MFer is RED! No shit, a red football field. You literally have to adjust your TV contrast to watch a game there. Hook’em!!!
  4. Conque (AD) better not make the FB field alternating orange/blue every 5yards. CA did that with purple/gray. Unless they’ve changed recently you can Google Earth it! Makes Boise State’s Smurf turf look tame! Hook’em!!!
  5. UTRGV’s AD played for his Dad while he was the HC at Central Arkansas. Man, I’m getting old as I remember that last name from my McNeese fan days of the mid 90s to mid 2000s. Hook’em!!!
  6. UTRGV is going to play in that minor league soccer stadium they built. Actually quite nice for that level, with a “roof overhang” helping for the September setting Sun for fans. Great area for parking/tailgating surrounding the stadium too, just not on campus. Hook’em!!!
  7. SBB - the youngsters’ don’t realize, but the “lighter” UCLA blue was perfect - IMO. The brand that decided to “make the blue hue darker” IMO needs to be fired! They made that change in uniforms roughly a decade ago, both men and women sports. Hook’em!!!
  8. I remember driving to San Marcos from Lake Charles for a game that was changed for TV to a Thursday for a SWT vs McNeese game. That was the Barrick Neely (sp?) year and the Bobcats were pretty good. They beat my Cowboys if I remember right and a long drive back to the Chuck. Hook’em!!!
  9. UTRGV will be a great addition to the SLC, but tighten the belt for all members for travel $$$ going forward. It’s not new as in previous years ~ within the last 20-30 years the members, mostly in Texas and Louisiana have had Central Arkansas, Troy, and Jacksonville State out of Alabama. Hook’em!!
  10. Yes - and both he and TH played against BYU in last season’s Alamo Bowl, which I applaud the effort. The Buffs were quite frankly taken “to the woodshed!” I kept hoping early in the 2nd that this upcoming drive would result in them getting back into the game, but it never materialized. I’ve seen some amazing comebacks in the Valero Alamo Bowl. One is TCU’s backup QB leading them back from a huge 1st half deficit vs Oregon. It was truly amazing and the whole stadium, besides Ducks fans, were cheering them on. It didn’t hurt that across to my right side was the TCU Cheer Squad - whatever they’re called, but all gorgeous! Hook’em!!!
  11. The “lighter shade” for UCLA blue should be mandatory and that uniform brand creator be fired! Don’t F with greatness! That’d be like Nike saying, no Texas, we want you to wear “traffic cone” orange this year. Hook’em!!
  12. I’m fine with that, but it’d need to be on the road and NOT the aggy series. Hook’em!!!
  13. Just like in FB, playing aggy brings our SOS down, while it props theirs up. Go figure the math? Hook’em!!!
  14. Not FB, but many prognosticators are picking The Vaqueros to play post-season baseball as a #3 seed. They’ll be a tough out for anyone, similar to my McNeese Cowboys. Southland and Sunbelt Conferences are stronger than ever before. Hook’em!!!
  15. The $$$ people who live in Houston/Dallas/SA downtown enclaves, send their kids to private schools for the most part, unless talking about HP or Alamo Heights. Hook’em!!!
  16. I’m 5.91/2 in height. ‘88 went into Army BT weighing 205 after working my ass off all Summer, prior to reporting that September. I did play FB and lifted weights the whole HS experience. Eight weeks, post BT I shrank from the waist up! I had to get new dress jacket and dress shirts issued prior to graduation, as I went from 48-44 and 171/2 neck to 16. My parents the day prior to graduation, didn’t even recognize me while marching right past them. After graduation, Dad cut some kind of rope to help keep my original blue jeans up to go back home to SETX - weighing 170. All mass seemed to come from the waist up. I got down to around 165, by the age 23, while stationed S Korea, as I was more active. Outside of morning PT, I’d play racquetball or soccer in the evenings and sometimes hiking the mountains with my KATUSAS (Korean soldiers). It didn’t take long post Army exit in ‘95 for the weight to add on. No longer running 2-3 miles daily five days a week, as well as the other exercises. Going to UT and eating Blue Bell while watching the 10:00 news and “studying” made me lazy. Not even 5 years post graduation I sent the wife to get three pairs of slacks for work from a particular style/brand. The wife called me from Dillard’s saying you know that 40 is the largest they have on the racks? Bigger than that, you’re going to have to order from the Fat Boy catalog! Eye opening! I’ve tried my best to stay b/t 200-210 ever since. I officiated HSFB for roughly a decade and that forced me each summer to get ready for the afternoons each year, as running around with Jr High kids at 5:00 in SA is hot as Hades! Friday nights were a breeze, as I was an Umpire, so very little running. Now 55, still battle weight issues, but in reality it’s my fault as I like beer too much to lose more. I equate beer to watching sports or playing golf, or even finishing doing yard work and admiring my results. My son and wife are slim/normal BMI. My daughter, bless her heart got my genes for hair and bone structure (big chest). She actually got on Wegovy about 2-3 months ago now that she’s teaching post-graduation. I feel for anyone facing weight issues. Even though “heavy” most of my adult life, I’ve usually been in decent shape for my size, because even two years ago I could lace up a pair of shoes and go run two miles. I’ve found walking in the evening 45-60 min is enough to maintain where I’m at 205-210, which is still bad according to BMI, but my Doctor says you’re fine with activity level, but cut back on the beers! Hook’em!!!
  17. There’s got to be better swimsuit options to help pull those puppies up? Of course it’d require a shoulder harness, but I digress. Hook’em!!!
  18. I hope it works out for you SBB. You’ve been a quality asset to this forum and wish you the best, unless we have to meet head to head in any sport. I like your school better than your in-town rival. But that special Saturday each Fall, with both wearing “home uniforms” is magic to my old eyes, regardless of outcome. That image is like Thursday at Augusta to me, just a painting in glory. Hook’em!!!
  19. Roughly two decades prior, the same DISD “flight” took place. Dad was the FBHC/AD at DeSoto from 70-83. His ‘83 team had 4-5 black players on the team. Mom and/or Dad of those players had “white collar” jobs like Doctors, Lawyers, or Accountants (etc) in Dallas. As a Jr High kid, I went wherever the team went with Dad. Hell, why not. We’d pull up in the bus for track meets as others are pulling in and if some predominantly “black” bus pulled in close by, I’d nudge Dad in the seat and say that bus looks fast. He’d just say it’s going to be a great track meet and great test for his Eagles. If you look at the population % of race in DeSoto athletics now, you’d think I was crazy. Hook’em!!!
  20. Lowell is the ONLY reason I don’t miss the LHN. Hook’em!!!
  21. Fng aggy going for 8 straight and the first of three in Fayetteville. Hook’em!!!
  22. Yes sir! Volantis is nails, even as a true Freshman. Such a great addition to this ‘25 team and Schloss. Didn’t really beat the ball tonight, but a W is a W. Hook’em!!!
  23. I think whoever gets TH will play him immediately at WR and coach him up on route running/timing aspects. The DB part of him will be used in special packages, where they can use his athletic ability on the field. Going from a WR on offense straight to DB, after a possession change, I don’t really see that initially. Hook’em!!!
  24. Puffy paint and overalls in the B/CS Chamber of Congress
