we have a friend who saw it happen.  she said she saw the dad holding the child's hand, let go of it to reach for something (sunscreen?) and the next thing she saw was the child darting away from the dad.  unspeakable tragedy.

    Fuck.

That settles it. I'll continue to carry my 22 month old twins through parking lots until they're 18.

Yeah, so can we please talk about splitting the US into aligned smaller nations like the EU? Let the south do south things and let us fruity libruls have our crazy environmental protections and brown kids running free instead of in cages.

  3. Those of you that think Trump will remain president after losing the election, as if he has the power or level of support required... or that any vote for any repub at any level is treason are dangerously unhinged. Get a grip. He's going to lose the election, the repubs will lose the Senate. The repubs will spend the next 2 years rebranding as necessary during a past due recession ("the deficit!!1") to try to win the 2022 mid terms.

  4. Outside of all the typical CS bullshit (insane penalties, bad D, bad ST), it turns out, former 5 star Blake Barnett is fucking awful. #2 pro QB in his class, washed out at Bama, ended up at USF and just totally ineffective. So now theyre playing freshman McCloud who will probably win a few games for Charlie and keep him there for us to skull fuck next year. He inherited such a talented, confident team and has turned them into losers.

I added a timestamp to the database to see who put the pick in first and they would get it.

Unfortunately I didn't realize when I updated the scores for everyone it also updated the timestamp, so I don't know who put it in first.

So, I'm going to split this one and fix the timestamp before next week

I updated my Rice prediction the day after the LaTech game if I recall.

I knew going into the 4th that any scoring would help me... Rice missed the PAT and I started feeling lucky. I was rooting for Rice to score quickly so our 2nd team offense might do something other than take a knee. With 1 minute to go I was embarrassingly interested in a 41-13 game. Knew we needed a kick return TD and, wtf? He's splitting the D? 1st KR TD since 2012? Fuck yeah.

  6. It's funny, on review, the dropped TD early affected the our strategy and our total D and is still being felt in the hand wringing here. It should have been 14 (or 17) to 3 before LSU's offense found its footing. If it's 14(17)-13, I doubt we gift wrap them the possession to end the 1st half. Worst case we repeat the shit clock management sequence so it's 14-20 at half. Going into the 4th, it would've been 28-23, Texas, and while I'm sure our D would've still been torched in the 4th, we would've been far more deliberate on O. Even if we blow it at the end, the total yardage for each team would've been ~100 yards lower, looking a lot more respectable. Please forgive the aggy math.

These things may serve no purpose for you.  But as someone who is genuinely undecided, they're very helpful for me.

    ...

But look--last night left me feeling that Biden wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.  I'm far from sold on him.  I remain skeptical of his stamina and his want-to that is needed for a long campaign against a vicious campaigner.  But I think he's still probably win.  And he'd probably be an ok president.

Boy, doesn't that sound nice just now.

    ...

I remain interested in Booker and Klobuchar.  The characterization of Klobuchar as a "female Biden" isn't a bad one.  And actually, that sounds kind of good.  She wins the general election easily.  And I think she would be a fine president.  She may not deliver the full progressive wet dream.  But here's a secret--neither will Elizabeth Warren.

I like Elizabeth Warren personally.  I just don't like a lot of her policies.  Her sidestepping of the questions about where the money is going to come from for her proposals was telling.  And concerning.  She doesn't seem to have a plan for that.

Julian Castro is finished.  His political career is over.  I've previously said "fuck him" for not running in 2018.  But now I'm revising that.  Now I thank him for not running in 2018, because his an insufferable douche.  He would have hurt the ticket had he run for governor or lt. governor in 2018.  The Texas Democratic Party is better off without him.

So that's where I am today.  That'll probably all change after the next debate.

FTFM... The more I see Klobuchar, the more I like her.

  8. Watched most of each debate so far. Did we learn anything new tonight about any candidate's positions other than Beto's proposed forced buy back? If there were few points to be made with new substance, I thought Booker at least showed a decent sense of humor and likability.

We're talking famine, we're talking new pandemics, we're talking mass global migrations of people. Just look at how much something like one million Syrian refugees has destabilized Europe.  Imagine what a billion climate refugees will do.

This is a little off-topic so I will hang up and listen to avoid derailing the thread... It seems incongruent that much of the left thinks this sort of scenario is coming in 10 years but simultaneously wants to drastically reduce military spending, eliminate private gun ownership, and disarm the police.

It bums me out that Warren opposes nuclear power... At least Pete supports it.

Well cold fusion hasn’t been perfected yet but

Fusion is so close. This is where a big chunk of the money needs to go. This could be our generation's moon landing.. or we can cover the planet in solar panels and turbines that will never keep up anyway because people are scared of fission.

    Dafuk wrote this nonsense?

So if I'm parsing this gibberish correctly, it limits how council can spend tax revenue and requires a vote regarding $20M+ convention Center expansions... so they wrote it like assholes.

    Pasken,

Why should we oppose the opposition because 95% of the petition funding came from that list of people? Who was supposed to fund it?

As I mentioned upthread my daughter works downtown. Evidently producers from the local news keep calling the business and coming by asking her and the managers about how it’s been since the end of the camping ban. Apparently when they say “pretty much the same” the producers are disappointed.

Did you miss the part about Florida officials saying kill on sight because they’re an invasive species that destroy a lot of shit?

Well fuck me sideways -- turns out I'm the stupid lazy piece of shit! My apologies.

I have an assortment of BB / Pellet guns at my disposal.  The nice one is perhaps a little too powerful for backyard use.  Accurate, loud, large (looks like I'm hunting elk), and powerful

    gamo-hornet-air-rifle-with-4x32-scope-4.

I don't want to miss and have the shots go outside my yard.  (1/4 acre lot in a neighborhood)

The next one is a Pumpmaster 760 with a shitty scope...   It's more discrete but the scope sucks and with the scope off the ornamental iron sites suck too and you only get one shot, but you can reload quick.  Can't see or hit shit.  I think since it came with the scope, the iron site is literally just for looks.  Even on the closest setting it over shoots a target 35' away by 3" or so.

    Fucking Iguanas are FAST!

This has worked to some degree, but it's only really good for close up and it's slow to reload but it's much more discrete.  The iguanas have adapted though, they see me and they haul ass.  They used to sit there in the grass/bushes and rely on camouflage.  No mass

    10277741

So now I'm looking for a cheap but decent scope...  amazon $25 to go on a gun that cost $45 ....   fucking iguanas

sorry for the derail...  it's just a little frustrating

You're going to have to walk us through what you've tried because coming into a pro-snake thread to talk about killing badass lizards like they're fucking tree rats.. Well, you seem like a stupid lazy piece of shit.
