  1. for a dude that was a WR (and I think lead the team in receptions one year) to make the switch and just become an anchor of the defense it is an amazing feat. He is going to be a steal in the mid rounds for some team.
  2. Some wild stats I read today. Michigan led at halftime of every game. First team in over 120 years to not allow an opponent to score 25 points in a game. (24 twice Maryland & O$U) Bowling Green accounted for 4 of Michigan's 5 offensive turnovers on the season. Aside from the Bowling Green game, Michigan's offense lost 1 possession on a turnover in 14 games. (I still don't know that that is true but I read it on the internet) Lowest star ranked team to win a championship since team recruiting stats.
  3. I would be fine with Orji next year if JJ goes pro. He is a monster and has so much zip on his ball. His biggest problem this year was he didnt get many chances, so he literally called his own number every time. And 99% its a big noon kickoff. It was part of the agreement to get texas out of the b12 a year earlier was fox getting that game.
  4. Thank you, I still can't really believe it. Just so fucking stoked.
  5. Michigan has done a good job keeping fringe guys from going pro and getting them back as seniors or 5th year seniors. Its how they have leveraged NIL vs paying recruits before they step foot on campus and IMO is the better way to go. They lose some dudes for sure, but they also bring a ton of guys back. They lose Wilson, Corum and Cornelius Johnson, So their #1/2 WR and #1 all american RB. If Edwards stays he should be a really good RB1 and Mullings looks solid if Edwards is dumb and jumps ship after 2 good runs last night. They lose Barnhart (solid starter) and Zinter (all American) on the OL, but rotated a ton of guys in so OL should still be solid. On D they get back their top 2 players Mason Graham DL and Will Johnson CB. They lose Junior Colston (LB) Mike Barrett (LB) and Mikey Sainristill (Nickle) who were absolutely the leaders and glue to this team. They will probably lose a DL or 2 that leave early, but rotated 8-9 guys all season long so they should be fine there. Losing their locker room leaders, as cliche as it sounds, is going to be tougher to replace than the on field production. I think Texas has a good chance to end the undefeated streak pretty early next season, but it should be a hell of a game.
  6. The biggest difference I saw in the two games, that may have made a difference, was that although neither team was sacking Penix, Michigan had a lot more pressure on him that texas. There were guys in his face and bumping him as he was throwing all night last night. The throws I saw in the texas game there was pressure around him but not really in his face. I don't know that that is what made the difference, could just be he played his best game against UT and had an off night against Michigan, but maybe that half second less made him rush a bit, or throw to a worse read than he did against y'all.
  7. I think this would have been a huge factor had Michigan played Texas. Instead of having home field advantage, it would have been the opposite. Getting a team to constantly commit false starts on a neutral field is crazy. The thing that I have been most impressed with Michigan this year, is how both their offense and defense disguise, shift, and confuse the hell out of the opposition. After watching them just up the gut ground and pound teams the past few years and then get to the playoffs and try to do the same thing and lose, it was a welcome breath to see them playing off their tendencies and getting guys wide open or forcing the other teams QB into making horrible decisions. Michigan's talent this year was incredible, recruiting stars be damned, but the coaches came up with incredible schemes and put those players in great positions. I hope that after watching these past two games against Bama and Washington that Michigan put to bed some of the "michigan is slow" narratives. Their DL is one of the top in CFB without having a true superstar, although Mason Graham is going to be one for sure. Can't believe that dude is a sophomore.
  8. Right, but they didn't offer him the job. Hence why it was a flirtation. If you go to a bar and chat it up with a lady and she leaves you at the bar, you were just flirting.
  9. Every year there are rumors of Harbaugh leaving, I never really took them seriously because it seemed he really wanted to be at Michigan despite the flirtations. After winning it all....... I think, if he gets an offer that gives him control (maybe not complete control) of the roster and a team that isn't a dumpster fire he probably takes it. And after last night. I am cool with that. Michigan hired Harbaugh to get them out of the doldrums and back to relevancy, put the program on stable legs, and he did that and more. I still think it is probably 50/50 he stays or goes. While Harbaugh wants that Super Bowl, after the past few years its becoming more clear that the NFL may not actually want Harbaugh. He is an odd duck, and he definitely pisses people off, not all NFL teams will want to deal with that, which is why he didn't get offers after interviewing the past few years. I think DC is probably out, based on how they hired for their search, they seem to be casting a wide net and I don't think at the end Harbaugh is going to interview particularly well compared to the long list of others. San Diego seems to be the only place that may say "fuck the baggage, we need a splash" Michigan has offered him 12.5 a year base, with bonuses of 500K for beating O$U 500k for winning B1G 1 Mil for making the playoffs 1.5 mil for Making the final 2.5 for winning a national championship. I am not sure that those all stack, so it may be 500k for beating OSU and winning the B1G and then one of the playoff bonuses, whichever it ends up being. But that is still close to 15 million a year. Owning an NFL team is a license to print money, but that is a lot of dough to shell out for a coach that flamed out due to a war with ownership the last time he was in the league.
  10. The Big 10 west definitely has broken the advanced stats when it comes to defense. Even on the ones that are "opponent adjusted" it makes it seem like 5 of the top 20 defenses in the country are in the worst division of any power 5 conference. That said, Michigan's defense this year was insane. Dumping Don Brown to bring in the ravens D, first with McDonald, and now with Minter, was the move that saved Jim Harbaugh's job and got Michigan a National Championship. As crazy as it sounds, I would rather Harbaugh go to the NFL and Minter stay in AA next year with Sherrone as head coach, than to lose Minter. Dude is a wizard, to have such perfect game plans against Bama and Washington is amazing.
  11. I am a homer, but JJ is the opposite of douchey. He is super humble, all about giving success to everyone else and crediting his team.
  12. I can't tell you how much I thought about this the past few weeks. If they didn't do it this year I wasn't sure it would ever happen. Penn State and Iowa are just meh, but having to go Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Alabama, Washington to close it out was a gauntlet. Beating CFP 10-7-4-2 to win it. Doing that across the playoffs instead of a regular season mix, would be insane. Conf champ game (for a bye) then playing 3 top 12 teams if you win, or 4 top 12 if you lose the conf champ, is asking a LOT. I love the idea of expanded playoffs, but it sucks for anyones team's chances of winning it all.
  13. All season long they refused to run JJ, I assumed it was part of the plan to keep him healthy, but I don't think they had any called runs for him until after he broke that long scramble on 3rd down. Having to account for the QB and the RB makes it a lot more difficult, especially when that RB is Blake Corum, Or Donovan Edwards, Or Kaleel Mullings.
  14. When they miscommunicated on that first blown coverage, I was like, they got average penix instead of god mode penix. Then they just kept hanging around, hanging around. I never felt nervous, but I hated the game plan after Michigan got up. I was screaming for 1st down play action, and both times they used it it was wide open. Maybe if they dont take those 3-4 1 yard gains on consecutive 1st downs it isnt as open but I think it would have been.
  15. Yeah the best rushing game in the playoffs history will definitely cover up the lack of a passing game. Holding that offense to 1 touchdown is way better than I expected, but Penix didn't seem that interested last night. The throws he was making vs UT vs the throws he was making last night looked like two different QBs.
  16. Why get cute there Sherrone. You are running it down their throat. They aren’t stopping you from getting 4 yards in two plays. Run the damn ball.
  17. Apparently if you suck at stopping the run it doesn’t help how many people you throw at the line of scrimmage because they all take terrible lanes and have no gap discipline.
  18. That seems like a gimme, even in a loss I think they throw for 300. If it is 500.... could be trouble.
  19. Thamel and Finebaum were pushing Deboer to Michigan, which seems like just a creation of a storyline for clicks.
  20. Apparently this officiating crew has called the most PI penalties of any of the p5 conference crews on the year. Michigan is the least penalized team in the p5, but I don't love hearing that about the crew. That said, doesn't matter, play your part 3 stacks.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I am going to be pumping some pageantry and hype all day long, but with a 2 and 1 year old I want to make sure I have them snug in their beds before the game actually kicks off.
