  1. Hurt returning versus TCU. Lower body something, I think.
  2. Heupel got put in a pretty untenable position by Stoops, in my opinion. After the Manziel Cotton Bowl, Stoops wanted to incorporate more QB run game, but he refused to put a starting QB in harm's way, so the scheme called for a ton of fake zone reads that were just slow handoffs. It took no time at all for defenses to figure that out, which crushed the run game. AND because of the scheme shift, the QBs on the roster were less able to be pocket passers, so they were limited in that sense as well. Then he got blamed for the whole thing. To his credit, he's never made any of that public, so I could be way off base. I do know for a fact that Bob was hyper protective of starting QBs.
  3. No real sense of why, but recruitment seems to be cratering for this dude. OU backed off, Miami and Ole Miss have reportedly canceled visits that were scheduled.
  4. We will see what this week's practices look like. If you think someone's close but being lazy, I can semi-understand the hard-nosed approach. If you realize they're floundering and need rebuilding, the support HAS to be there. This is a real inflection point in his career, so let's see what comes out of it.
  5. Well this isn't true the fuck at all anymore...hahahaha
  6. Consider that OU is probably down two top returning WRs if everything is equal from portal to injuries, so that's a push. QB would be more of a struggle than Texas has had, likely. Nobody on the roster has played any meaningful snaps outside of Gabriel. OL is still a work in progress based on the last game, so losing one of the rotation there would be uncomfortable, but not a huge drop-off. Good analysis of the interior OL play from Gabe Ikard this week, getting into details about how Raym is making the game harder for himself, lack of communication, and the struggles they've had in operating as a unit G/C/G or in pairs of C/G. He's not sure if it's the tempo or some other factor causing the mental lapses, but he puts it all down to execution or instruction, rather than innate talent.
  7. Not really, no. Everyone expected to be contributing is doing so. Minor, week-to-week stuff like anyone.
  8. Great area for Bosnian food, due to a large refugee population.
  9. It's the AD, Castiglione in the hat. Not that it changes the look, but...
  10. Philbrook will take at least two hours, probably closer to three if you take your time and actually look at the exhibits and walk the grounds a bit.
  11. I agree, I think Nelson would be stupid to flip. I just think it's consistent with Riley that he's having to fight it off or deal with the speculation. For comparison, you're not hearing those things about Manning or any of the other top committed QBs.
  12. Riley never felt like he was able to keep people in the boat. Every battle went down to the wire, and there were late wins and late losses, but there was always a sense of "when the big guys come calling" looming over each class. You're seeing it again with Nelson, and even in Caleb Williams kicking around the idea of not following him to SC. He's probably right in that being at SC protects him from that a little more than at OU, so you might see less of that in the next couple of years if he has sustained success.
  13. All of the noise from the secondary this year is about how much they prefer having a coach who knows the position. Strong shade at Manning, but we will see if the productivity matches their optimism once the K-State and Texas games are done. KSU has another Lockett on the roster, so I'm expecting some busted coverages chasing small, fast dudes.
  14. He was trending OU for a long time, then Georgia came on strong in the past week or two. After lunch, everyone has been flipping their picks back to OU. There was word that the parents wanted Georgia, but Evans liked OU.
  15. Evans seems to be back on board this afternoon. Should know for sure in 45 mins or so.
  16. Objectively, it's not terrible, it's just that most OU fans were hoping for more of a commitment to a fan-focused atmosphere ahead of the SEC move.
  17. I liken it to the south Louisiana grandmothers who by and large will use a jarred roux. Sure, you can make it yourself, but they started doing it when that became available and that became the standard process.
  18. Think about how I feel. I came here to make the same Laci Peterson joke someone alluded to and then hit hours apart.
  19. I'm tempted to say yes, but that would involve Texas beating Bama, right? For that reason, I'm going to pursue other options.
  20. Yeah, I'm gonna need another Pole Assassin-style story to come out of somewhere to make this not news anymore. Please and thank you.
  21. That was the message in Venables' second post. I'd imagine we'll never know the full story, but he's definitely taking responsibility. The change in tone internally before any public announcement is the weird part, to me. I guess that's the point, though, if they were trying to get their position straight before any news leaked.
  22. Doesn't that mean Card gets at least a few half-hearted handjobs?
  23. We will never know for sure, but that sounds as plausible as anything else. Ikard is unobjectionable for me, and I do trust that he wouldn't lie about what he was hearing from staff and players. If he's quiet about something, there's a reason. Once he decides to definitively go on record, he's never been called out as being untruthful.
