  1. Of course you're right, I was thinking of Rambo from last year.
  2. He came in and played really well as a freshman, then got steadily worse and less confident as things progressed. If Miami is able to undo some of the damage done, they'll have a really talented guy to work with. They were able to do it with Farooq at WR, so it's definitely possible in some cases.
  3. You could pull a hammy trying something like that.
  4. Second time is for getting serious. First one is for cruising and scorin' chicks, man.
  5. I think it had something to do with chest painters in the stands in the wrong order at some point a long time ago. Sort of "Tceh" adjacent.
  6. That would truly be the first big, public shot across the bow that I can pinpoint from the OU NIL crowd. They're getting some of their efforts aligned, and players are mentioning it more during recruiting interviews, but I don't think there's been a high-profile player known to be looking for a payday that's gone to OU just yet. Am I forgetting about anyone?
  7. True. I've also actually made several of Lagerstrom's recipes, and haven't gotten to a single one of Weissman's.
  8. It is, and the next time I make a stew, I'm going to try frozen to see if there's actually a difference. Here's a recipe I've used a few times. The big change is doctoring up storebought stock with gelatin, better than bouillon, and tomato paste. I have tons of homemade chicken stock, but almost never have beef.
  9. The one exception to this was a previous coworker, probably the best-traveled person I know in my personal life. Irish, had been everywhere for either work or fun. Sri Lanka was his pick, and I don't even know enough about it to know why.
  10. The little quiche things are pretty good, you're right. The tomato soup is basically pasta sauce in consistency and salt/sugar level.
  11. Sheet pan salmon with potatoes and parmesan asparagus. I don't always make the arugula basil dill salad for the top, but it's really nice to cut through the buttery potatoes, etc. https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/wprm_print/103915
  12. Man, I have such strong memories of going to Strawns and Cypress Inn when I was a kid visiting family. My mom refuses to eat any other strawberry pie.
  13. Try to sneak onto the Barksdale grounds. They don't mean it when they say they'll shoot. Or try the marinated crab claws at Herby-K's. Good place to kill an afternoon with a beer or three.
  14. Not knowing the ins and outs of Texas HS Football, why would this be?
  15. Hookem and Sux pretty much nailed my thoughts. Hopefully they won't have to play any true freshmen apart from Pettaway and maybe a RB. If anyone else sees meaningful time this early, it's a sign of a bad year. Woodi Washington coming back was a big win, and means they only have to rewire half of the secondary. OU fans are pretty critical of Gabriel, but that's because we hyperfixate on easy throws that were way off. We don't notice that it happens to every single QB for every team every week. I also really wonder about Ugwoegbu moving on. Volumes have been written about his ability or deficiency, but he's never complained, always worked his ass off. OL is going to be about what it was in the bowl game, so that won't be awful with the addition of Rouse.
  16. The trick I used when dealing with those folks was to have a shallow pan of the jus at just below a simmer. If you dunk a slice in there just before serving, it knocks the "pink" off of it and fools them into thinking it's whatever temp they wanted. Or you could continue with your plan and I salute that experience as well.
  17. Agreed. You can't put a QB on the field who can't complete a pass and call yourself successful.
  18. He's built a good reputation on the defensive side of the ball, and is hoping Lebby and Bedenbaugh will attract quality on the offensive side. So far, it's worked halfway, but this class is nearly as defense-heavy as Riley's classes were offense-heavy. Aside from Arnold, Green, Pettaway, and maybe J. Johnson, they're not getting the absolute top-flight dudes on offense. They need help with RB and WR recruiting in a big way, and Bedenbaugh has some reputation to rebuild.
  19. Plus, a new staff is having to establish new relationships in many cases.
  20. Stogner officially back at OU. I truly believe the number of people who have a handle on this new environment might be countable on one hand.
  21. Now that the tattoo has been posted, who would like the over/under at 502 total yards for Owens during his A&M career?
  22. Cross (n.) a thing you nail people to
  23. It being specifically about bowl prep is slightly different. I know that saying they "did not contribute" in a meaningful way is true, but why say it? Is he reassuring the fan base about how entertaining the fucking Cheez-It bowl will be? It comes across as defensive and combative when it's an easy thing to answer. You wish the guys well who are prepping for the draft, and you say there are people looking for opportunities elsewhere that are still "your guys" who you will root for unless they line up across the field in the future. You're excited for the team to get to bowl prep and get ahead for next year. It's not Jimbo-level bad, but it's weird.
  24. Agreed. He's not Deion coming into a brand new situation and putting everyone on notice like Baldwin doing a favor for Mitch and Murray. These are ostensibly his guys that the staff spent almost a year trying to coach and mentor. We all know that some level of processing happens, but who does this comment help? Is it directed towards fans? Players still on the team? Potential transfers in?
  25. Riley also snapped at a reporter in the postgame for asking whether the players on D are "coached to try to go for the turnover vs. prioritizing tackling" after some of the long runs. Never let that skin thicken, coach.
