  1. seeing jrad tomorrow night. a lot of people seem to like them more than dead & co.
  2. this is the exact opposite of my experience. lyft is almost always far cheaper than uber.

    Spoon

this one's definitely in my top 5.

    Spoon

my introduction to them was seeing britt play solo shows at beerland on weeknights during the early 00's. not a huge fan of anything before girls can tell, but everything after that is solid. though i'm less partial to the synth heavy hot thoughts.

    Pink Floyd

yep. the number of extreme closeups was kind of funny.

it's frustrating how infrequently they play headlining shows in austin.

    Pizza

i think the meatball hoagie is the best thing pinthouse burnet has going but it's too expensive...like everything else on their menu. still like the pizza rolls but they are tiny now and twice the price they used to be.
  8. went to eeyore's on saturday for the first time in years. i expected it to have lost some of its weirdness but it was still fantastic. stayed long enough to have a couple beers, watch the costume contest, and do some great people watching. all of weird austin was still there getting high and hanging out. grateful dead was blasting from the stage PA between bands, and if you chose to buy a beer they were all local and only $7 for a 16oz pour. this old gray haired hippie lady was there with her goat that was ready to fight every dog in sight.

    Pearl Jam

wish they would put more riot act songs in their sets. i seem to be in the minority that really loves that album. all or none is one of my favorite pj songs, hope i hear them play it one day.

    Pink Floyd

pompeii sounded GREAT. can only hope we'll continue to get some cool releases now that sony owns the catalog.

    Texas BBQ

kg bbq. brisket was not good. unrendered fat, tough, dry. sliced way too thick...received 1 slice that was a half lb. lamb chop was good but nothing special, not a lot of flavor. ribs were the best thing with a nice sweet glaze but could've used more savory flavor. sides were good. unimpressed overall.
  12. $75 for a day pass doesn't seem unreasonable. you're gonna be paying at least half that to see any one of those headliners on their own.
  13. when was the last time you had a lone star? the puzzles were briefly paused and then came back like 2 years ago.
  14. they've been teevee, wurve, and now daiistar. i've liked all of the incarnations.

    Burgers

buddha burger. quite solid, would eat again. the chicken, bacon, ranch sandwich was also delicious.
  16. saw mac sabbath on saturday. hilarious. they fully commit to the bit and theatrics...sort of like seeing gwar.
  17. most importantly, that's not a cover.

    Vinyl

it's great, and huge. you'll find everything from filthy $1 records to super expensive obscure shit. i like to go on sunday when the vendors are offering discounts to unload the records they don't want to take home. i always have to set a spending limit before i go in there.

austin record convention may 3-4. plan accordingly.
  20. the opening line to the song is "killing in the name of"
  21. assigning seats at the taco reward and then placing the advantage directly in front of eva is some bullshit. i become more convinced each season that the show is largely scripted and guided by the producers.
  22. clearly they aren't selling tickets. i don't know why they insist on doing this the same weekend as psych fest again. why unneccesarily compete with another local festival?
  23. my morning jacket was excellent last night. i saw them a ton between 2000-2008 but somehow haven't seen them live in over 15 years. they haven't lost a step. was pleasantly surprised how heavy the set was on songs from Z. i've been enjoying the new album and was hoping for river road, didn't get that one but i enjoyed squid ink a lot. still don't like moody amphitheater, the sound was ass for the first several songs and I don't think it was ever loud enough.
  24. sturgill was incredible. i didn't think there was a chance in hell i was going to sit through 3.5 hrs of music but i never got bored. turtles all the way down>livin the dream was my personal highlight. thought all of the songs off the latest album sounded really good as well, glad i got to hear one for the road. the number of covers, teases, and heavy jams was ridiculous...didn't realize they had leaned so hard into jamming. crowd was kind of terrible but that's not surprising. it was about 75% dudes, lots of jamband frat bros that wouldn't shut up.
