  1. 4th of July picnic will be in....new jersey? https://www.yahoo.com/news/willie-nelson-moves-2024-4th-151210788.html
  2. Found both of these humorous.
  3. 2 moves is not significant reconstruction. add a w in front hoof and then erase an o...whoofarted. goddamn that was tough, i can see how it would be too complicated for your smooth brain to figure out.
  4. let's consider it then: hoof arted phonetically is who farted. cat sass phonetically is cat's ass. i considered it and it's a great example. the band's name was already a joke and then you explained the joke to anyone dumb enough to not understand.
  5. good avice but a bit alarmist. i've hiked plenty of 14ers leaving the trailhead at 9am or later, you just have to be willing to turn around if weather rolls in. i've never started a hike before 7am because fuck that.
  6. that's like changing hoof arted to who farted. it was already the joke anyway. you should reconsider how proud you are.

  8. are you sure is what they is what sure they think they are?
  9. pinnacles trail? pretty sure i remember seeing that sign the last time i hiked the south rim.
  10. Saw this while wandering around the east side during sxsw. Apparently this place existed from 1900-1909. Also found a pic of the inside from the archives.

    SXSW 2024

i was pleasantly surprised by the number of bands from austin that i discovered. made me feel pretty good about the scene here...it ain't dead. previous years it felt like every new band was from brooklyn or LA.

    SXSW 2024

Did the webberville block party yesterday. Exotic Fruitica and Swallow the Rat were pretty good. Saw Alex Maas at coral snake, psychotic reaction at vinyl beauty bar (weird place) and rickshaw billies at king bee. Not sure I have it in me to go out again today.

    SXSW 2024

Red river and east side again yesterday. Saw Luther Dickinson do a live on the internet thing for Paste at coral snake, he makes it look so effortless. Strange Lot, local band, was yesterday's discovery. Their rhythm section was exceptional. Wandered into an alley show and a backyard party. Good scene all around. More people than Thursday but still pretty chill. Didn't wait in any lines.

Bounced around to different places on the east side yesterday. Significantly fewer people than previous years but that's cool with me. Local band Moon Kill was the best new discovery of the day, gave me Kyuss vibes. Fat Dog was pretty fun. Daikaiju is always entertaining.

    SXSW 2024

weather is not looking promising for the rest of the week.
  19. saw plenty of concerts there and the sound sucked for every single one of them. won't miss it at all. moody is a massive improvement.

    SXSW 2024

found this, it has a decent list and is sligtly easier to navigate than the chronicle website. https://sidebysideshows.com/

    SXSW 2024

y'all got anything better than the chronicle's list of day parties? feel like there used to be a bunch of websites that listed the day shows but now it's pretty much just the chronicle. https://www.austinchronicle.com/sxsw/unofficial/
  22. I'll be going to the portland show and both nights of msg. pretty pumped about msg.

    SXSW 2024

feel like more and more places are doing the all day thing where they don't announce the set times until the day before (hotel vegas, radio east, far out lounge, etc.). i'm more into hopping around different places than sitting in one spot all day. not many bands that i'm familiar with this year but have found a few that sound promising.

    Guatemala

San Juan seemed the most touristy of any of the towns around the lake. It was very heavy on shopping, which I wasn't really interested in. The Friday market in Santiago was nuts, so many vendors. Got a pretty sweet Mayan death mask made by an old Mayan man.
