  1. unfortunately a shit ton of learnin' is happening to Sark this year. I still laugh that the guy's whole O is predicated on running Inside Zone but he hasn't fired his OL coach that can't teach or recruit OL to run it. He's forced to OZ which he just wants to be the change up to bust explosives after IZ is established.
  2. I've always been on the get a decent P4 train. no real upside to scheduling a 50/50 or 40/60 type OOC. it is funny though, back in the SWC days we always had OU as a big OOC but and we'd have a PSU or Auburn or someone like that every once in a while as well. the main goal was to win the SWC and win the cotton bowl. if the chips fell right maybe you win the MNC but if you didn't win your conf and associated bowl game you weren't going to win the NC. Even in the 2 and 4 BCS/playoff format it was harder if you weren't a conf champ of something called the SEC. the SEC made all the other conferences think they needed to schedule a big OOC. The biggest problem though is we have had 2 solid 10 year periods in the last 40 years where we were a clusterfuck. one was epic scale cheating/with mid coaching and the other was incompetency at the HC position. now the MNC is actually an NC and that is the main goal and to do that you have to get into the tourney. Yes winning the conf is nice, probably gets you a bye, but as it has always been, you have to minimize the number of losses. before LSU there were zero instances of a team winning the NC with 2 losses BEFORE the bowl game. as an at large, with the unbalanced schedules in the superconference era, you will need to have less than 3(before CCG)90% of the time to make the 7 at large spots. It would be silly to play games that are a coin flip or worse, when you get to choose the opponent and SOS doesn't matter.
  3. yeah, I was making a joke but they do anyway - see ND.
  4. nah, we just need to go 7-2 in SEC(which we can do no problem) and not lose OOC games.
  5. good stuff. unfortunately it is clear the committee doesn't consider entire resume or SOS or SOR or wins . If someone asked that dumbass from Arkansas what about Texas close loss to Ohio State he'd a) point to Florida and b) say that was early in the season. Which would be funny because that would be our entire point but he so fucking dumb I can guarantee he would say it. our close wins get scrutinized but our close losses are just normal losses/bad losses to these guys. anyway, don't lose 3 games and set your schedule to your advantage and beat every team by as much as possible no matter who they are. it is obvious a SOS in the 40's means absolutely ZERO to the committee. our SOS will never be in the 40's. As an aside, The rivalry game thing cracks me up. the dumbass Arkansas AD actually used it for Alabama who barely beat(with ref help) a 5-7 rival. And of course avoided it when it is Texas crushing rivals by 10+ including 2 rivals who are playoff teams and his own fucking shitty ass football team. The whole thing is ridiculous. cancel the OOC blue bloods, schedule a mid or lower P4 and get ready for conf games. christ we can spend time game planning to beat our conf teams instead of game planning a ton for a first game of the season with a blueblood.
  6. That would be great if the committee actually considered top 10 or top 25 wins at all.
  7. you forgot the committee rule "only consider Texas' close wins when discussing comparable opponents"
  8. yep. I think someone upthread mentioned ND was sending packets out to media also. They knew what was coming because they didn't beat anyone worth a shit.
  9. it is just so obvious. the moving us over Vandy is obvious so they could say us and Vandy were comparable and use H2H and "show" that it isn't about loss column. this is so fucking ridiculous. showing us against ND and Miami would make them look like dumbasses for not putting us in.
  10. counterpoint: they are Vandy
  11. yes several things called wins. let me see if I can find a committee metric on "squeakers". oh there isn't. there is actually a statement that "margin of victory" is not considered.
  12. how do you decide which teams are comparable before you use the SOS, H2H, injured players, common opponents?
  13. It's funny how little the committee values our win over #3 and undefeated aggy.
  14. Bama completely shitting the bed against dirt burglar fucked all kinds of shit up.
  15. I'll be shocked it we are higher than 10 even if we beat Michigan.
  16. I've summarized the AI for accuracy
  17. the idiocy of Hunter Yurachek is perfect for Arkansas. so you rank teams and if they end up side by side, THEN you figure out if they played each other?
  18. tOSU can risk a loss because the Big Ten is so weak so if they drop either Bama or Georgia it will be hilarious.
  19. apparently not our AD since he determines the schedule for OOC.
  20. yes I know. I hope our AD understands that all that shit about SOR/SOS, wins against top teams etc. is all bullshit finally.
  21. yep, this time we do it AFTER the contract is signed.
  22. there is nothing on ND's resume that is better than Texas except for the loss column. we even beat both common opponents and you didn't.
  23. and then add the fact that ND lost to aggy and we beat aggy. common opponent, SOS, SOR, top 15 wins, everything is us over ND except for the loss column.
  24. nothing about our wins, just losses. we play those motherfuckers at home again next year. our goal should be 50-0 on those assfucks.
  25. pos rep. my favorite post in this thread so far. We should announce tomorrow we are playing Oregon H and H after notre dame H and H and then cancel it also.
