My wife is allergic to such tech products and services, like grocery deliveries. Her hypothesis is that the store will select the worst fruits and vegetables to pack. (As if they want to discriminate against online shoppers?).

We also always end up going to the store twice in the same day. I do the bulk of the purchase. And a few hours later she realizes later she wants an extra carton eggs or whatever.

Man, that's the exact reason I hated curbside / delivery.  We'd order fruit or vegetables, and they'd give us bruised up crap, or green bananas, or something completely wrong.  Also, my biggest complaint is when they're out of an ingredient in a meal you're making, they aren't good enough to know how to pivot from that.  You're making pot roast, e.g., and they're out of beef broth, but they still get you the roast, carrots, gigantic onion that's 3x the size that you need, and 3 carrots when you asked for baby carrots.

it wasn’t until my sister had kids that I became aware of diaper blowouts where an infant literally shits so hard it comes out of the top of the diaper and sprays their back.  just awful.

those of you with kids I know you’re aware of this phenomenon.

I love how after the youngest gets past this stage, all these memories are moved to cold storage and rarely given a second thought.  That said, the oldest was the posterchild for Oxy Clean spray, and frankly perfected my skills on removing / replacing Baby Bjorn Bouncer covers.  Youngest probably had 3 to 4 blowouts, which is mind bottling!

The more I think about it, the more I think the best punishment for Tucker would be for the Ravens to keep him (which I think they will). Then he has to face the locker room with them all knowing what he did, and they get to clown him for the whole season.

This only works if they hire a full time massage therapist for him:

Check in to hotel last night, and room has a small microwave, among other amenities.  MOTHERFUCKER!  The time on the clock is still before 'Fall back' from 3 months ago.  Not a swinging dick or cock wallet who stayed here could garner the initiative to press 5 buttons to reset it?

Trivial as hell, for sure. and most surly was my reaction.

I mean, you went through all that effort that's going to force someone else to revert said changes in a few weeks time.  You could have just left it alone and all would be well in due time.

Ratchet belts have been my solution to the hole thing... Slidebelts

You can even get them with buckles that look "regular" (as if the belt had holes)

Have you ever seen those shoes that use velcro instead of shoe strings?

The let’s-make-it-even-more-efficient part of me organizes the list by how I would walk through the grocery store -  produce section first, then dairy, meat, pastas, etc. This also depends on particular grocery store and how it’s laid out.

Its pretty efficient instead of my wife and I texting each other to see what we need.

Man, I did the same thing for the longest time, but during Covid I would be half-way through the list, and the wife would text me to go grab something on the second or third aisle I went down, and it's send me backwards, then repeat this over the next 5 minutes in a random order.  I spent more time ordering the list than it was worth.

When you drive by, there is one dude working and 3 other dudes standing on the street watching him. That's the golden rule for every road construction project. 1 dude works, 3 dudes watch.

Also applicable to South Austin's mom...

Lulz. Like the bullshit with Austin Water during Icepocalypse, someone prob forgot how to flip the switch to close the gate.

Lady Bird Lake levels dropping as Longhorn Dam gate gets stuck open

AUSTIN, Texas — Levels at Lady Bird Lake continue to drop after a gate at Longhorn Dam failed while in the open position on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Austin Water, crews were performing scheduled work when one of the nine gates failed, causing the lake level to begin dropping. As of 2 p.m., the water level was down by 1 foot and was continuing to drop. By around 5 p.m., the lake had dropped 2 feet.

The cause of the failure is under investigation.

Crews and contractors are working to manually stop the flow of water out of the dam, Austin Water said.

Austin Water says that the issue will not impact water or wastewater services for Austin Water customers. The water level at Lady Bird Lake will remain low until repairs can be completed.

Man, thoughts and prayers for the Lake Travis folks.  Some dumbass with Austin Water screws the pooch royally, and costs Lake Travis another foot or two of water.  Maybe this would be a great time to drop Lake Austin for some much needed shoreline maintenance?

  9. Man, is there not a way to post the image then click on said image and have it pull up X?  The videos are being embedded with no link to the original post which makes it pointless to embed videos altogether.  I understand trying to boost performance, but the cost here is user experience.

That's also not my fucking problem and is actually a stupid fucking way to do firewall configuration.

Agree to disagree.  Blocking Newly Registered Domains is a great way to keep your kindergarten-level employees from getting phished.  Most InfoSec issues I've had around here have newly registered domains involved.  There's a reason a lot of firewall companies filter on this to begin with.

We live in an older 2 story that only has one unit, so when the thermostat is at 65, it's 127 in our upstairs bedroom.

We have a 2 story with 2 units.  She gets cold and jacks up the downstairs heat, and the upstairs thermostat stays the same.  The t-stat feels the warmth coming from downstairs, and doesn't kick on for a few hours, while all the rooms upstairs have the doors closed at night, and they drop like 5-10 degrees before the heat finally engages.  Then the kids get up in the morning and she's wondering why they are shivering.

Luckily, this winter, she's been the opposite of this: too warm downstairs (set at 69) so she'll drop it to 68 or so, then the upstairs turns into an oven.  And getting up to shower in a 66 degree bathroom sucks majorly.

Reddit embeds are the HUGEST sucks, as they often take 15-30 seconds to load.  Twitter is significantly less.  But now that you've gone the SurlyX route, you're using a newly registered (1/25/2025 registration date) CDN as a hosting site.  This causes many firewalls to block traffic, as all mine block 'newly registered domains' for security purposes.

People who try to get out of jury duty shouldn't get to complain about other juries' verdicts, but they do...

CSB: My second job out of college was working for a smaller city.  I'd assist a lot during the periodic trial dates at city hall.  Sitting in the back room waiting for the day's docket to commence, there was a back and forth between the judge and a defendant's attorney.  The attorney left, and the judge started going off.  Basically, he said you've gotta be a complete fucking moron to take a case to jury trial (in this instance, some prick ran a stop sign and was fighting it.)  You just got a jury box full of the 6 idiots who couldn't get out of jury duty, and you're arguing over running a damned stop sign (not word for word, but dang close).  And just as they're seating the jury for the trial, they came to an agreement and let the initial jury off the hook.  Will always remember that when considering taking ANYTHING to court.  /CSB

Everyone should have a spare capacitor and contactor for their A/C. It will probably cost you less than $50 for both from Amazon. AmRad and CapDog brand capacitors are made in the USA.

I'd carry 'em if I didn't have so many different cap sizes.  Just the two at the house have vastly different sizes.  And the one-size-fits-all AmRad Turbo cap is 6x the cost of a regular cap.
