Glad I'm not the only one.  It's been relentless the past 5-6 days.  I either get "you have unpaid taxes" or what sounds like 1:30 of dial up modem noises.

Every time you pick up, and hear a beep, then someone from Bangladesh introduces themselves as Dave or Mike or some other really American name.  Then they get mad when you ask for their Indian name...

This is the coffee maker where I work. Without fail people will leave less than one cup of coffee in the pot, often time less than a cup in both pots combined. So if you want a cup then you have to finish off what is there and then wait for another pot to make.

It is not hard to make coffee. If you are depleting the volume in a pot to less than a cup, then simply remove the old grounds and filter and replace it before you walk away. No need to add water since it is hard plumbed in. The coffee can brew unattended and be ready for the next person.

I hate the idea of these.  Mary Jo over in Accounting who's been knuckle deep in her left nostril shows up and runs out of coffee, so she uses the booger hook hand to reload the coffee maker?!  Yeah, no thanks.  The main advantage of the single-serve coffee machines: no nasty hands touching stuff that who knows when it was last cleaned.

You calling George Soros a "goon" is rather revealing.

Starting a philanthropic arm of a company and investing millions if not billions in trying to influence politics at the level he does... Yeah, no thanks.  That money would be better spent feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, or aiding natural disasters, not funding Beto's third failed attempt at running for office.

Yes.  Here's the truth when we look ahead.  In the year 3000 AD, the Psychlos, an alien race, have ruled Earth for a millennium. The Psychlos discovered a deep space probe (suggested to be Voyager 1) with directions and pictures mounted on it and the precious material, gold, which led them straight to Earth.

Psychlos stand up to 9 feet (2.7 m) tall and weigh up to 1,000 pounds (450 kg). They originate from Psychlo, a planet with an atmosphere radically different from Earth, located in another universe with a distinct set of physical laws characterized by a lack of elements that are radioactive. Their "breathe-gas" explodes on contact with even trace amounts of radioactive material, such as uranium. The Psychlos have been the dominant species across multiple universes for at least 100,000 years.

After one thousand years, humanity is an endangered species numbering fewer than 35,000 and reduced to tribes in isolated parts of the world while the Psychlos strip the planet of its mineral wealth.

It's the year 3000, and Slorch is STILL arguing Tech's relevance in the left-behind thread.

Chebyshev's inequality is not the relevant inequality. Bell's is. The challenge presented by Bell's inequality was to postulate a 3D geometry that can accomplish the quantum strangeness. Bohm answered it theoretically almost immediately by changing Bell's definition of locality to Holonomic. Bohm couldn't come up with a geometry that satisfied his definition change.

Then David Bergman and John Lucas came up with a spinning twisting Toroid. Their claim was that this accomplished electromagnetism and that was all that was needed. I learned physics from David Bergman, NASA engineer.

After working with him on a simulation, I told him the spinning twisting Toroid was insufficient and we needed to add a travelling wave. A travelling wave on a Toroid that spins at light speed carries faster than light information without any of the Toroid going faster than light. David objected because he felt no need to explain the Quantum strangeness.

I thought this was ridiculous and quit working with David and went to Israel with the spinning twisting Toroid with a travelling wave. Since this clearly accomplishes Bohmian locality thereby obviating Bell's inequalities, no math was needed to know the geometry itself was sufficient to be crowned the theory of everything.

As to math, many possible engineered solutions will replicate the Schrodinger equation. Since I'm not a mathematician, I didn't bother doing the math. The geometry is clearly sufficient.

You watch Oppenheimer one time, and you think you're the world's leading authority on spinning twisting Toroid with a travelling wave.

On a side note: I did once get a spinner to twist my toroid after a long night of drinking.  Was QUITE the experience, to say the least.

If it's any concern to you, it might be worthwhile to see who's funding his campaign.

Dude, Soros funded his first go round.  Soros has no ties to Austin, it's just a goon throwing around money to get his way.  At least the local people donating are donating to affect their LOCAL municipalities.  This EXACT mindset is what's going to screw Travis County over for years to come. We'll support someone who's backed by some National Level PAC over a local moderate who's ACTUALLY qualified but has some moderates donating to his or her cause.  Then again, Austin masses are freaking idiots and refuse to vote on anything other than a letter after their name or what the Statesman endorses.

They are an awesome startup success story for Austin. Who cares about the brand but huge for Austin startup community.

Eh, I think they WERE a great story... Found a niche market and went all in on it, all the while you had brands pivoting to milk the space, and on top of that, add in rogue social media marketing that disrupted their brand, and now they're having to take another direction to keep afloat.  I for one won't buy anything Yeti unless it's off of wish (bought a cup from there in the original tumbler days), or we win it at a raffle.  Too many alternatives that are just as efficient.

Oh man, BYU in 2024. Wow.

BYU has a loyal fanbase, but man, they're going to be tested harder than Joseph Smith when it comes to attending that slate. I love college football and Saturdays in the fall are sacred to me, but if I were passing through Provo for some dreaded reason and a local offered me a ticket to catch anyone of those games, I guess maybe, maybe, KSU is a game I would sacrifice 3 hours of my road trip to attend. Probably not though.

The local LDS chapters will come out of the woodworks to fill up the visitor sections of BYU away games.  Hope most of the Big 12 stadiums expand their bike parking 10-fold.

I mean, are you REALLY spouting off attendance numbers on Jan 6th?!  It's during the break between semesters, and students are typically no where near campus.  These are typically the least attended games and always have been.  And with all the local Tech students and alumni in town during that timeframe it makes it easy to snag up those empty seats.

But you just tell yourself whatever you want to hear...

When the fuck did people stop enunciating the letter "T" in their speech.

I want to go Loudermilk on these people about a half dozen times a day.

    Motherfucker, it's pronounced "but-ton", not "buh-un".

Somehow I'd never heard about it and then remembered it, despite having been here for close to 20 years at this point, but there's no way the food, drinks, and the atmosphere of Lake AUSTIN are good enough for those prices.

    Lake Austin...
