People always question my opinion but I consistently get the best steaks at flemings. Never had a bad experience. Full disclosure, I have not been Jeffrey’s or 3 forks.
So I take it he’s going to provide districts adequate funding to raise teacher salaries? Nah. It’s just another shot at 1. Women 2. The teaching profession by saying the smart ones left.
I used to go in there once a month and try anything new/interesting/good they had. After several months with nothing to keep me interested, I stopped going. There are so many breweries in the area now. I know we have all heard the stats that some low % of beer sold is craft and overall sales are up year after year, plenty of room for growth. It’s all true and craft will continue to grow, but I think we are at the point that we see some closures and not just an endless stream of new openings.
They are a decent taproom away from making their current location successful and I think a move to the boonies would doom them. They need to copy ABW and the smaller guys in the are need to band together to (better) promote brewery crawls.
You can also take AP classes at any high school and avoid some of the other stuff. Middle school is what you have to trouble shoot. I mostly know Lamar parents and they are happy.
My favorite is addendum behind ad hoc. Ridiculously juicy with great flavor. A plate of that chicken on a picnic table with a bottle of wine made about a mile down the road is perfection for me.
I’m an elementary administrator in aisd. I can’t say I’ve ever left an email or phone call unreturned for more than 24 hours unless it was a weekend. That’s pretty much the standard for all of my elementary colleagues. Middle school is a different ballgame. Its tricky to be as responsive as possible and at the same time prepare parents for what middle school is like. Not an excuse to not be responsive but they are dealing with real stuff like drug use on campus, sending kids to alternative school, murderers???, etc. Not suggesting this about anybody on this thread but a lot of parents require significant hand holding over every minor issue. I give them that but middle school is like ripping the bandaid off for those parents. The transition is not gradual at all.
If their competitors open up then they will realistically have to as well. The theory goes that they will sell a set amount of booze in a week. Doing it over 6 days is easier and more profitable than 7. Same with car dealers. I say fuck the nanny state and let them compete.
I grew up going to beavers bend in OK. Great place but the wait to get one cabin is a year for busier seasons. Might be tough to get 5-10. Plenty to do for families though.
Assuming you are the hospital on 620, let me know if you need anything. I live in the hood behind there. Damn near walking distance. I can sneak you booze and bbq.
I’m pretty sensitive to issues surrounding economic and opportunity inequality. However, blaming one restaurant for operating within the current system doesn’t really address any of the underlying issues. It’s intellectually lazy. Let’s talk about why minorities are being forced out of the east side in favor of white people than can pay more. It’s an education gap that is followed by and income gap. We can work on ways to fix this but it’s not going to be about one restaurant taking over a tire shop. It’s going to be about pk-12 education supports and affordable options for college.
Some of my boomer teachers are good at their jobs and still find ways to connect with kids. But I could hide a million dollars in our google drive that I shared with them at the beginning of the year and they would never find it. Maybe 25% could with extremely step by step directions.
