  1. Agree that the feel-good replacement coach situation should be avoided at almost all costs. There is usually a bump if the previous coach was toxic, but it usually wears off the following season. Even worse is when an assistant coach replaces the former head coach (who left for a new job) for the bowl game, which the team wins, and he gets the job next season. That never works out. What makes this situation so depressing is that Beard was absolutely perfect for the job. He was young, modern and passionate enough to build something that could have lasted for quite some time. If some mercenary retread like Calipari comes here, it won’t feel like we building something special, it will just feel like his next stop on his slow descent to retirement. I can’t see top recruits wanting to be a part of it.
  2. Oh. I was really impressed w your post until I saw you basically lifted it verbatim from a CDC Tweet.
  3. Should be on a banner raised in Moody Center.
  4. I think Coach Beard has just proved why the absence of a stable personal life can be highly detrimental to success. It would be interesting to do a comparison of coaching success with the metric being stable personal lives (think Coach K's wife who was a very visible, contributing partner) vs unstable personal lives (think Coach Beard and Rick Petino)
  5. Yes, it’s the kind of business many coaches wives create to take advantage of people who want any kind of access to the program. “Hey, Coach Beard’s wife organized our home,” said no one ever. Based on the fact that all the pics looks like she staged them in her own home, that tells you how successful she was.
  6. I would take this back a little further. Say what you want about the University of Texas, but one thing they do well is cover themselves legally. I am assuming that they or a consulting firm had properly vetted Beard prior to the contract signing. I wonder if Randi had been flagged as a potential loose-cannon and that they were keeping an extra eye on her? Just random musings on my part. On an unrelated but related subject, I also wonder if CDC's influence has been devalued in the upper circles. He has certainly been trending upwards with all of his recent hires and expansion projects. If it comes out in a potential lawsuit that he did state (OR WRITE) a belief that Beard was innocent, as Beard's lawyer has claimed, and it somehow results in an ugly settlement, what happens next? Even without this charge, the entire situation has placed him in a unpleasant, compromised position, as he has been Beard's biggest cheerleader. The next few months may turn out to be very interesting. In this country, we love to see you climb up the ladder. Then, we love to tear you down. Following your fall, we love to see a contrite, humbled, better version of yourself re-emerge. My close friends believe that Beard will NEVER again attain a position as mighty as what he held at UT. I think he can and will re-emerge at the top. I'm curious what people here think.
  7. Haha, we looked at the Before/After pics at the office. One of the interns said it should be a maid service.
  8. LOL. I just went through all of her BEFORE/AFTER pics. It's hard to tell what she actually did. It's beyond weird.
  9. Yes, I wasn't aware when his relationship ended and I worded it poorly. I meant that he seemingly had a valuable relationship, and now had placed himself in the middle of a clown-show.
  10. Totally sounds like another MLM special. Looking at Randi Trew's website, the fact that she uses a gmail for her business, rumors of her coaching issues, the NY trip, etc, and I can't help but wonder how Beard allowed himself to get in a relationship with her when he had a beautiful wife and family. He must have low-self-esteem.
  11. Let’s refrain on posting in this purported latest post from Randi until @Porterhousecan determine whether it’s real or fake.
  12. I think her using a free Gmail account for her business was a nice touch. Guess that $5M a year didn’t make it her way.
