  1. Thanks for sharing. Goes back to my point about so much hatred pointed at Primetime and the obstacles Black people face. Prime transforms the program at much personal financial cost, then moves on and is "betraying his community." Coach Jumbo secures a fortune for accomplishing nothing and, "he's a smart guy a with a great agent."
  2. You made lots of good points here, but to some degree, every successful coach or business person is his/her own personal brand. What I respond to is Prime's masterful media abilities to use his personal brand to make his program a success. Kids want to play for him-look at the responses to his Tweet asking for players. He is changing the recruiting game and is way more fun to follow than the usual dregs I've mentioned in previous posts. Like you, I think he's good for the game.
  3. There does seem to be a double standard for Black and White coaches, and we see some of that reflected here. Primetime is demonstrating to us what a Black man in our society faces. First it was going to Jackson State. Then it was the horrible decision for the 5-star DB to go to Jackson State. ("OMG, he's not going to get the crappy coaching he would get from the shitty, nameless, FSU coaches. Instead, he will have to learn from one of the greatest NFL players of all time. The horror!") Then it was shade thrown by players and coaches of other SWAC schools. Remember, the "he's not SWAC" talk? Like anyone paid any attention to the conference before he came. Then it was leaving Jackson State. How can he betray them? Forget that he donated half of his salary back to the school and now reports are surfacing that the school withheld the money he was promised for selling more than 30K seats. So even while he was creating transformative exposure for them, they still screwed him! Then it was going to a White college. Heck, even I wrote here it was a "bad culture fit," so I'm guilty, too. Then, it was letting the hopelessly bad players from CU's 1-11 squad know that better players are coming. "OMG, he's telling those young men the truth! What a monster." Forget that while at USC, Pete Carroll would play the highlights of the incoming stars to the current roster, just to scare them out of complacency. What is interesting is that a lot of the most vitriolic hatred directed towards Primetime is coming from within the Black community. I'm not sure what to make of that.
  4. Fair point on the wins, but fatass Jumbo looks and acts like he should be working the night shift at a call center and his 5-star players are fleeing his shitty coaching and management. How did this stupid, petty loser ever get his job? Oh yeah, Aggie. Turtle reeks of inauthenticity, incompetence and arrogance. The college coaching industry has an amazing ability to keep average, untalented retreads like him employed.
  5. I absolutely love everything he does. He is authentically unique and knows how to connect with young people. Compare him to all the fraud CEO bastards like Turtle, Jumbo, and other bullshitters who never accomplished anything themselves. Check out the video of him after a game talking to his 5-Star DB like he was his father. Or check-out his send-off from his current college that someone posted here earlier. And screw all the pussies on Twitter for calling him out for telling the current Colorado players exactly how life works. Those posters must all work at Starbucks, cause any job worth having is competitive. Get better or go somewhere else.
  6. Well, being self-serving is certainly rare amongst college coaches.
  7. I'm definitely an old, and I agree with you that it's a really smart move. His brand is what will attract people to the program. He knows how to create interest and excitement. I bet lots of top players will want to go play for him and all of this publicity is brilliant. He will run rings around the hopeless, tired, retread coaching industry in terms of recruiting.
  8. I am a huge Deion fan and loved how he brought a fresh energy and excitement to the SWAC. So many people misunderstood his talent and leadership, as evidenced by all the college pundits claiming his 5-Star DB was making a huge mistake by going to Jackson State. (Cause it would have been so much better to have gotten half-ass NFL training from shitty, nameless Florida State coaches.) Even other SWAC coaches and players threw shade at Deion, which is funny, cause what were they doing to bring recognition to the league? Nothing. That said, I do think Deion jumped the gun a little by choosing Colorado. I'm glad they are paying big but the culture seems very different. I would have loved to see him at an Auburn or Florida State, etc. Of course, he has nowhere to go but up, so there's that. It's going to be fun to watch how he attempts to transform the program.
  9. Helobious is hardly a Westlake honk. 54 game winning streak. 3 straight state championships. Sure beats being a Longhorn fan.
  10. Even though he was a defender, Taffee came in to catch the long pass to put Westlake in position to beat North Shore in the semis two seasons ago. Then, in the state game vs Southlake, he intercepted two passes, and one of them was an incredible, one-handed affair that made ESPN's top 10 plays of the week. So yes, Taffee. Neither team is "planet-killer" good this season. Westlake has lots of key injuries, but so does North Shore. After the game today, the Westlake announcers were going over the stats of the Brennan QB and they are truly mind-blowing. He is finishing one of the greatest runs in Texas QB history (82 TD passes to 9 ints is insane) and they shut him down. Westlake picked him off 3 times. It will be a great game, for sure.
  11. I've said it all season. Guyer will take 6A D2, even if our Chaps had to play them. They are on a mission. Final score Westlake 47-Brennan 7. @Helobious, you were right, Brennan has a really high-powered offense and moved the ball all game long. Problem was, when they got into scoring position, we baited their QB into 3 ints. We blocked a punt, and forced two turnovers on downs. They must have been shocked that they couldn't score, since they have so many talented offensive skill players and averaged 48 points per game. Our starting QB is still throwing picks, but our backup comes in and just wins. I think he's better. And Lake Travis has its final revenge against our Chaps. Thanks to LT getting the home game last year in the state semi-final vs North Shore, we've got to now play North Shore in Houston at Rice Stadium. Bleh.
  12. Just made our 2nd INT. Brennan QB has 3 INTS for the season and we have 2 of them in the first half of this game.
  13. Incredible game going on in Austin: Dripping Springs 24 Vandergrift 17 Lake Travis 15
  14. Also, 7 defensive starters are injured Band instruments destroyed in storage facility fire Cheerleaders detained in Mexico due to COVID Entire coaching staff blinded in freak solar flare event
  15. Helobious, you predicted before the season that Brennan had the best chance of beating Westlake, thanks to their outstanding quarterback, (and perhaps his brother). Your prediction has come true to some extent, as they are amongst the last teams standing. As people and myself have written here, Westlake isn’t quite as dominant this year. Can you give us Austinites a scouting report on Brennan?
  16. To be clear, my Chaps’ posts are mostly pure jest. I’ve gotten into the habit of writing them this way to entertain myself and readers. We also have deep connections to the program (hence my wife receives a state ring when we win) and as people who experienced the lean years under the former coaches, we’re enjoying every minute of this unforgettable run. Glad you are a part of this group.
  17. Despite the hopelessly biased San Antonio crowd, officials, announcers, law enforcement, etc, Westlake was able to squeak out the win. Arriving at the game, hapless Westlake fans were told that there was no parking available, and families had to park across a busy freeway, and were forced to run for their lives, while San Benito fans tailgated outside the stadium. The game was marred by the passive-aggressive stadium announcer comments like, “the player ran faster than cars move in Austin traffic,” and, “the quarterback was knocked out the way partygoers get rolled on 6th street.” When we complained, we were told by stadium officials to, “grow a pair,” and “go complain to Elon Musk.” I’m not sure why San Antonians hate Austinites so much, but our gallant teams shouldn’t ever be forced to play in such a hostile environment again.
