There are plenty of assholes out there

The vast majority of people are not assholes

The vast majority of service worker interactions are inconsequential, unmemorable or nothing but pleasant

Negativity bias very much plays a factor

The main problem is shitty commutes, not enough pay, bad bosses etc etc which only serves to reinforce the negative memory of that one shitty customer you dealt with out of the 50 you interacted with.

This is correct. And it’s the same for waiters as it is for customers. It’s pretty much society in general. It’s a bell curve.

For every handful of asshole customers, there is an equal handful of amazing ones, but most are just neutral. Not dicks, not overly nice, just there.

And it’s the same way with waiters. Most are generally pretty good. Outliers are outstanding and opposite outliers are completely incompetent.

    Flat circle and shit.

  2. Anyone here have any experience with it? Mine won't fit in a carry on under the seat in front of me, but he can sit on my lap. Other than flying private every time (that shit gets expensive), what are my options?

td/dr - How does this whole "service dog" thing work?

Downside to Delilah; it was enforcing a 2 hour limit.  Wife and I are intrigued, but at same time, they don't want you loitering around after your meal, plus....maybe I'm an old, but I'm not sure it's my thing.  Gorgeous place, however.

Article says they don’t really enforce it if you’re still eating and ordering food. Normally I’d say fuck that policy, but with a show, I get it. Especially if they’ve got some flexibility for people who are clearly still spending money and not just loitering to watch the show. If you’re an old, I’d be more worried about the noise level and lack of lighting.

I can spread it out, not sure about the clubs. I'll check on that

I’d do Sinatra and/or SW personally. Sinatra was the only place we always went every time at least once when we were doing Wynn/Encore a lot. And SW is probably favorite steakhouse in Vegas. Haven’t been to that Delilah place yet, but it looks pretty cool. May be more of a place for drinks though, I don’t know. Also haven’t been to the Mexican place but I bet it’s pretty good, although you might not think so. Do not do Lakeside, Cipriani or Mizumi (sorry @bigup2dahorns ). Looks like all the “clubs” are maybe closed? But other than that, you could just blow it on booze at some of the cool bars around the property.

i had never heard of a piece of boot-flair called a "butterfly" so i tried every possible logical result set combination of the following words:

boots butterfly butterflies dress equestrian military parade

something like 10 or 11 search string combinations

can someone please confirm aggy did not actually invent a type of "boot flair"?

as of now, that is the most likely explanation for boot "butteflies"

    FGg4FMZXoAEAkNK.thumb.jpg.dea3901d55512d06a8c5627cbc706f3a.jpg

and while we are on the subject, i must also report ZERO similar boots in the image result set for any of the logical search combinations which begs the question (and i'm sure we're all fearing and loathing the answer in anticipation).....   because you know they have to have one.....  what is the source turdition of their magical boots?

they sort of look like equestrian boots, but they are not

they sort of look like military parade dress boots, but they are not

    WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY?

Never been in the military but I’ve been around my share of boots, both English and Western, and I’ve never heard of it.

    Based on your research…

flair + butterflies + parade + aggy = can only mean one thing, right?

Troy is also looking for Romo money in his next contract. No incentive to work 60-80 hours a week as GM or coach if you can make 18 mil a year working on weekends for 4 months.

If you think that's all Troy (or any announcer) does, you're sorely underestimating how much they work. It's definitely more cushy than a GM or head coach, but those guys work their ass off between games.

how has this not been posted?

Literally every single one of those was Gregory "tackling" a blocker that wasn't trying to block him. They were all pulling to block someone else and Gregory was stopping them from getting there. So, not sure how he could have been trying to "shed" the blocks when they weren't intended for him in the first place. Daring the refs to call holding? Okay, sure (defensive holding rarely gets called on the line, especially on run plays so maybe not a bad strategy). But the rest of that tweet is crap. Most of the defensive line's job is to disrupt whatever the offensive line is trying to accomplish, especially on run plays.

Why would you ruin a NY strip by battering and frying it?

I dunno...why would you smoke a prime piece of beef? Because it's better than smoking a choice piece.

Sorry. I don’t get the whole Prego’s thing. It’s a dump with shitty food. Parkies seem to love it for some reason though.

    Isn't Prego on Greenville?

Sorry I am late to this party.  I don't really know how to come up with a top 25.  I'll have to think about it and use your guide, but where do experiences fit in?  For instance, two of the best dining experiences I have had in Dallas were the tasting menus at Revolver Taco (Purapecha and then La Resistencia).  Those would be at the top of my list but I don't know the category.    Same thing with Zen Sushi in Bishop Arts.  For day-to-day Sushi, it's fine and we enjoy it but it is not spectacular, but we did the omakase there once.  We had to give a few days' advance notice.  Michele ordered fish just for us from the best market in Tokyo and created an amazing, unforgettable meal.  I don't know how that fits into a top 25 list.

I don't know, but this little project kind of went off the rails. I think the original plan was to have everyone weigh in, then tabulate the votes and develop a master surly dallas top 25 list...but that never really got finished (shocking with us, I know). Pretty sure my list has already changed fairly significantly since my first submission too.

Since it was easy to contrast the white with the red it seemed higher since I missed the dark blue. So it looks like you're closer to the actual percentage but here it is from a photo.

Pictures don't really do it justice. Nor does TV (I wouldn't think). Along with the navy, a lot depended on the section and what part of the stands you were looking at. As would be expected, the niners side of the stadium had a lot more niner fans than the Cowboys side. There were even some complete sections that looked to be about 80% niner fans. But overall, it felt to me like the niners side was maybe 40% SF fans and the end zones and Cowboys side was more like 20%. My section and the sections around me were not even 10% 49er fans. Overall I'd guess it was one third 49er fans total, which I think is pretty normal for most NFL games these days. And noise levels were very much the same. On critical downs, it was very loud for the Cowboys. It was just sort of loud-ish for SF in similar situations. Not even close to "home field advantage for SF" or over "50% niner fans" or whatever bullshit people are trying to sell.

    Not really.

Jerry took Jimmy to dinner. A cowboys beat writer saw them together and called in a photog. They took a picture and the beat writer wrote a story that Jerry was hiring Jimmy. People twist this to say that Jerry used the media to fire Landry, which isn’t true.

When Jerry actually hired Jimmy, he flew out to meet Tom personally. Tom tried to avoid Jerry by leaving his home. Jerry drove to the golf course to break the news.

There are plenty of reasons to loathe Jerry, a BS “he treated Tom Landry wrong” narrative isn’t one of them.

I always found the choice of Mia's Tex Mex to be odd for that dinner. I mean, it's a dinner between the owner of the Dallas fucking Cowboys and his new head coach, which hadn't been announced publicly yet, and you go to fucking Mia's? Nothing against Mia's, but of all the gin joints in town.

I mean that worked with garrett so I understand their thinking. stephen is a smart guy and learns well from past experience.

Hey pal, he's smarter than Junior. So...yeah...there's that.

In all seriousness, Charlotte is probably the smartest one, but of course she's not being groomed to take over. So we'll take Stephen and we'll like it.

The one thing I can say about Stephen is that he does not have Jerry's massive ego. He may get it the day he takes the reins. But as of now, he might be an upgrade, at least from that perspective.

  15. 3 minutes ago, Trey3216 said:

He very craftily said it, not very definitively.  The question was posed "Are you confident that McCarthy will return next year" and Stephen answered "Yes, we're confident he'll be returning."  Lot of leeway in that response.

Well, I think he technically said, "Absolutely. Very confident." when asked if he was confident McCarthy would be retained. But yeah, always some leeway in these types of things.

The problem is, I don't know if a replacement exists that would make Jerry jump. It's easy for us all to look at it and say that Quinn would be an upgrade, but he's not some slam dunk hire by any means. Moore is probably even more of a gamble. I mean, sure Sean Payton, but he's a huge longshot from a contract standpoint.
