Well, we're buying a house that has a pool. Never owned or dealt with all the issues that accompanies having a pool. Does anyone have a resource where I can gain some knowledge and understanding?
I got the pool inspected. I wasn't too happy with the inspector but this is what I got. Thoughts?Image 1 -- 3.5 Visible Piping: There is a line on the pressure (return) side of the plumbing that isn’t labeled and doesn’t seem to do
anything within the pool when flow is sent to it. Ask the seller’s about this line to discover what function it serves.Image 2 -- Easy fix? -- 3.9 Automatic Cleaning Equipment: The suction cleaner works fine when most of the pump’s suction volume is
dedicated to it via the diverter valve. This is common for suction cleaners of this type; they are volume hogs. The fitting
the cleaner plugs into at the pool wall is broken and doesn’t have the required cover. When the cleaner is unplugged,
the suction outlet is open and could injure pool occupants. Expect to pay between $27 and $41 online for a new fitting.Image 3 -- I'm annoyed that he put what he did in the report. I think I might have trouble getting a cash allowance at closing on it --
5.0 Ozone Generator: This ozone generator didn’t seem to be working. They are designed to help sanitize the pool
water so that it requires less chlorine. Full disclosure: these devices aren’t that effective. Also, there is no minimum
water ozone content to achieve sanitation, let alone a way to measure water ozone content. Don’t bother replacing it.
Next time the system is to receive significant repairs or maintenance, consider having the system removed. -
Yea, but isn't that weekend always a shitshow?
We will be there at the house and beach only. No other outings -
Thanks. We will be going the long way around vs ferryStingaree is open, jeep weekend came and went, the line for the ferry, if thats your route, is loooooong, so get there early, avoid it, or have someone with you who has a medical issue (cut to the front to of line) Otherwise, another day at the beach. -
Which cut did you prefer, with or against?Great idea! Something to pass the time during a pandemic. Got about 4 pounds of choice flank from Costco. Beef jerky time.
I've seen some cut against the grain and some cut with the grain. Decided whynotboth.gif. Slightly freezing beforehand makes them so much easier to slice thin...
A couple different types of marinade that consisted of just a bunch of shit I had on hand. One spicy...
And one regular...
Spicy with grain in one bag, against in another...
Regular with grain in one bag, against in the other. Ended up leaving them sit for about 36 hours...
Laid out on racks. These are the against grain...
And here's with the grain...
Into the oven at 150* for about 8 hours...
L-R against grain regular, with grain regular, with grain spicy, against grain spicy. I think I prefer with the grain spicy, but all 4 slammed. -

As always, yes.
just be aware it’s like a NYC bodega. Very tight aisles and people often on top of each other. Very difficult to social distance even when people are trying to be considerate.
I used to make regular trips there when I lived in Uptown back in the day.
My list includes the spicy sausage, any other meats I can find, the biggest can of San Marzanos I can find, back up dough balls, olive oil(s), and a variety of their frozen pastas (mainly lobster ravioli if they have it).

That’s fair. I don’t know what they go for now, but when I sold my gently-used WSM on the old site, I listed it for $100 less than new and it was gone in a day. I also posted it on the WSM theead on the food board. More eyeballs there.
Yea, I posted it there too just in case. I'm certainly not married to the numbers. I just now have 3 smokers plus a Weber gasser and just got a Ooni Pro pizza oven...sooooo my wife is a bit feisty as of late.

You really live in Southern Oklahoma, not North Dallas.

Sorry, “Schlub,” but what “utensil” are you referring to?
To be better put -- don't be a schlub, folks, learn the art of using the double-hinged waiter's corkscrew as AustinMT has pictured.
I started home happy hour early /shrug

Dont be a schlub, a proper gentleman should perfect the skill of uncorking a bottle of good wine with this utensil. This is the correct answer -- double-hinged waiter's corkscrew. Pulltap is a good brand. For older corks, get an Ah So or, even better, a Durand https://thedurand.com

I'm looking to sell one or, possibly, both of my WSM.
18 -- In good shape but needs 1 new top grate. $160ish sounds good?
22 -- In grate! shape. Newer model w/ the temp port. $375ish?
Located in far N Dallas (Prosper)

I have both an 18 and 22 WSM and am looking to offload one of the 2. PM me if you know anyone that might be interested. Posting in For Sale too.

Inside looks good, but pellets can't sear for shit. And this is coming from someone w/ a Rectec pellet w/ sear grates. Gas, charcoal, or cast iron for me

Ok. I can always mail some to you. Shouldn’t take more than a day to get to you and if I chill it first it should be fine.I'll hold off for now. I'm headed to the lake house early next week and would rather not worry about missing it in the mail. I'll re-engage in a few weeks

I'm going to hold off heading down south until things die down a bit.Lakewood. PM me if you're serious and I'm happy to share. Prosper is a long way. -
Have you been over to Bolivar lately? We have a friend trip w kids (5 families) planned there for a month from now and I'm wondering if it might be diceyWe've taken the boat over to Watermans a couple times in the last few weeks. We just stayed downstairs and it was much better than it used to be. Of course it's hard to mess up Fish & Chips and a bucket of Coors Light. -
Is the meat counter closed?Good girl. You musta raised her right. Hope you’ll be able to use it sometime soon. I mean, I guess you can use it now, if you just want to order some groceries. -
