  1. If we really felt like arguing that, the dude stuck his arm out to get hit by that.
  2. Gasparino is better than he was last year but damn he still leaves so much meat on the bone when you see how good his hot stretches are.
  3. The Kade Bing experience is never bad enough to make you disgusted but never good enough to make you excited for the next appearance.
  4. Mendoza not being in there does not feel like a great sign considering we aren’t giving guys rest days at this point in the season.
  5. Aren't polls supposed to be a reflection of an entire body of work? H2H should only come into play if the two teams hold similar resumes, imo. Arkansas had lost 3 series in a row prior to last weekend, 2 of them to teams that Texas swept. You can't just throw that to the side.
  6. Kendall Rodgers during D1baseball's chat today Guest: Are you willing to lock any team in as a Top 8 seed with 3 weeks still to go in regular season? Kendall Rogers: I would lock in Texas for sure with two weekends left. I would lock in Arkansas and Florida State, I think, with one more series win.
  7. Here is what RPI looks like with the points that are separating the teams. For reference, we only lost about 10 RPI points for each loss this weekend (-30 total). You are penalized much more for home losses, so I would imagine we would lose around 30 points for any loss this upcoming weekend, while gaining 15-20 RPI points for any win.
  8. That is always their default. When you have a committee full of athletic directors who haven't seen Cal Poly or Oregon State or UConn play one time, they just default to the easiest metric to use.
  9. The conference is missing a lot of the big boppers of the last few years. There is also probably a bigger conversation to be had about hitting because home runs are down across the board and several coaches have commented they think the balls aren't flying as far as previous seasons. I was just looking this morning and 11 of the 16 teams are hitting under .270 in SEC play. Arkansas is the only team over .287. Georgia was seen as this offensive juggernaut a month ago and they are hitting .252 in conference play.
  10. Tennessee at 13 might be a bigger joke than Georgia being #1
  11. I still don’t quite understand what South Carolina was thinking when they hired Mainieri last year. I’m sure he’ll get a second season but he’s about to be 68 and there is no excitement around that program.
  12. I think it’s as simple as 3 teams (UK, A&M and Mississippi State) are 10-14 and two of them play Missouri over the next two weeks and the other (Kentucky) doesn’t. That is who is likely to be left out. 13 SEC teams get in.
  13. Considering the number of teams already with 11 losses (several of which Texas holds the H2H tiebreaker over) and Tennessee/Vandy having a matchup upcoming, it feels like Texas can’t finish any lower than 5th if I’m doing the quick math correctly. Top 4 gets the double bye in Hoover IIRC.
  14. Are we sure LSU is a really good team? Their signature series win is against Tennessee who doesn’t look great themselves. Swept by Auburn, series loss to Texas, series loss to A&M and played no one worth a damn in non conference play.
  15. Kentucky will have to find 3 wins over the next 2 weekends to have any hope at a regional. Oklahoma at home and Vandy on the road. Going to be very difficult.
  16. Tennessee is in serious danger of dropping their 4th series in the last 5 weeks.
  17. In the rankings? Probably not. And that’s okay honestly. Get the #1 target off the back. Probably still the #1 overall seed in the tournament projections though.
  18. Georgia-Arkansas, Georgia-Texas, Texas-LSU, Texas-A&M, Tennessee-LSU, Ole Miss-Tennessee, Vandy-Georgia, Georgia-Auburn, Auburn-LSU Big time matchups all won by the home team. If you look at the heavyweight matchups this year, you have a huge advantage playing at home. Several of those were sweeps.
  19. We were blown out before we even had a chance to throw a punch on Thursday and Friday. We were outclassed in every sense of the word and I am highly skeptical a motivational pep talk earlier in the week or a hype video would have changed the outcome. It’s just really hard to win on the road in this league. Time to move on. We allowed ourselves a mulligan with how we played for 21 games up to this point.
  20. My hot take for the day is I really don’t think LSU is that good. I don’t see them as a slam dunk Omaha team some do.
  21. Maybe it’s the glass half full thinking but the swings have been much better today up and down the lineup.
  22. We have good arms but we don’t have premium stuff as a staff. We have 1 guy who throws harder than 93-94. Everybody else is getting by on pitch-ability and breaking balls. That doesn’t make hitters shake in their boots even if they are good pitchers.
  23. Burns should have never been allowed to start this inning. Really bad pitching management today with the best pitcher in the series fully rested and available.
  24. Just gonna let Volantis rot down there? Burns shouldn’t have started this inning and definitely shouldn’t have got another batter after 2 walks.
