  1. We are so late in the season I would prefer he just take a redshirt and come back next season at 100%.
  2. I’d do everything in my power to keep Grubbs where he is. Him and Volantis with the ability to go multiple innings is such a weapon out of the bullpen. I don’t see any reason why Flores can’t be a good #3 starter with what he has shown so far. I was worried about control with him at the start of the year but he has thrown plenty of strikes. Bing just doesn’t do it for me as a weekend guy. I think he is in the perfect role as a 4th starter who throws strikes but won’t miss a ton of bats.
  3. Odds are someone will go cold at some point and it will be obvious. Also depends on if Mendoza can get back to playing 2B soon and Rodriguez can continue to play through the hand injury.
  4. Florida and OU series to end the season are both Thursday-Saturday, I believe.
  5. You have a chance to win another series against a top 10 team. Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. I don’t mind using Volantis at all. If you have someone who is as lockdown as him and he is available, why would you not go ahead and just wrap this thing up tonight.
  6. This might be a good game for Flores’ hard sinker following a lefty.
  7. That wasn’t even that bad of a pitch
  8. Watching OU raid the FCS ranks in the portal has been interesting. Just saw they scheduled another visit for some DL from Southwest Missouri arts and crafts college or some such. They are also after some FCS TE as well and have been linked to some WR from Illinois State. There are always exceptions (Jared Verse) but it feels like you have to be a special type of talent to make that leap in competition and be productive.
  9. Schloss mentioned after the game that the starter for Auburn today (Cade Fisher) was another guy we were in the mix for out of the portal and he took a visit here. I am really interested to see the portal traction we get this offseason. We were close to getting Zach Root too before Arkansas supposedly came in over the top and offered close to 400k. Feels like with the proof of concept and a full offseason to recruit we should be high on the list for a lot of portal arms.
  10. I heard he had a setback a few weeks ago but not sure the extent.
  11. I’d much prefer Bing or Flores sliding into the rotation than taking Grubbs out of a role he has thrived in. Speaking of Bing, my hunch is we may need him out of the bullpen this weekend with the good lefties Auburn has. Volantis being the only reliable lefty down there is tough. Mercer going down 3 outings into the season really hurt.
  12. They could push Spencer all the way back to Sunday if they wanted next week and keep Harrison and Riojas on schedule with the early series this week. My gut feeling is they are going to be extremely cautious with this especially with our current record. Even if it is super minor, it may not be the worst idea to just completely skip him next weekend.
  13. This team is so damn fun man
  14. Okay the SS is good let’s start hitting it somewhere else
  15. The way Weiner covered his mouth when describing to Schloss what Spencer said makes me sick to my stomach
  16. You can’t be the worse defender on the team while hitting .200 and expect playing time. This is definitely the worst depth we’ve had on the position player side since the year we didn’t have a SS in 2019.
  17. Blake Munroe mentioned an interesting stat on OTF this morning. Casey Borba leads the entire SEC in pitches seen per plate appearance. .265/.410/.554 with 5 homers and 19 RBI's is pretty solid for a guy who wasn't a starter the first 3 weeks of the season. Also has an OPS over 1.000 in SEC play. Now, if we can just get him to throw to first base without needing a cutoff man.
  18. Galvan is probably a borderline top 100 guy now. Improved a lot defensively, plays a premium position and hits with power. Plate discipline has also improved a lot from his early years when he would swing at anything and everything. He will already be 22 by the time the draft rolls around. I will be fascinated to see what MLB teams think of Flores. I don't think he plays SS in pro ball, and he is going to need a lot of work on his swing/approach to handle good breaking balls at the next level. He is also a very old junior (turns 22 a month after the draft). If Schloss had more than 5 seconds to put a roster together this summer, he maybe could have found a way to convince Flores to move to 3B because that is likely where he gets moved.
  19. Flores and Volantis are the best freshman arms we’ve had in a long time in terms of pure stuff.
  20. I think it’s more to do with the fact he hasn’t swung a bat in 6 months and probably isn’t ready to face college pitching.
  21. It would be funnier if it wasn’t like the 3rd time this year he has dropped a routine pop up.
  22. Still not sure how Rodriguez didn’t get to that ground ball up the middle. I still wonder if his long term home is first base starting next year.
  23. Borba might be the most underrated player in the program.
  24. Shoulder. He also had a significant shoulder injury in high school so hopefully it’s precautionary.
  25. Mendoza out of the lineup. Rodriguez at 2B.
