  1. Which is not good. If 2 weeks of rest doesn’t help it really makes me question what we are getting from him the rest of this season.
  2. Rodriguez being back out after 1.5 games does not give me the warm fuzzies.
  3. Hard to go 10 weeks in this league without a series or two that will leave you shaking your head at the end, and it is typically a road series like this. I’m certainly not throwing in the towel by any means, but we are up against it today with the state of our pitching staff behind Ruger going up against their best starter. We pushed almost all our chips in yesterday (rightfully so). Styles make fights and Kentucky has a style that is bush league but also keeps them in pretty much any game/series. That stat yesterday about them holding a lead in all 14 conference games they’ve played despite being 6-8 was wild.
  4. To me he seems about the same player as last year facing better pitching. Lots of swing and miss and struggling with good breaking balls. Defensive inconsistencies remain. It’s going to be interesting to see what MLB teams think of him in July.
  5. 2024 vs 2025 strikeout rate for our current position player group Mendoza- 11% vs 18% Galvan- 33% vs 30% Rodriguez-N/A vs 17% Schuessler- 17% vs 17% Flores- 23% vs 25% Farmer- 50% vs 38% Borba- 31% vs 31% Gasparino- 36% vs 27% Stewart- N/A vs 37% Winfield- 22% 46% Duplantier- N/A vs 31% Chamberlain- N/A vs 43% There are 3 main guys (Farmer, Winfield, Borba) who are striking out at unacceptable rates relative to the power they provide.
  6. This is college baseball. The pitchers can’t throw strikes half the time and a ground ball to the third baseman is never automatic. Routinely giving up outs has been analytically proven to lower win odds. I don’t want to know how many runs we left out there the last two years watching Peyton Powell sac bunt in the 6th inning or earlier.
  7. Trying to bunt also cost them outs in the 8th and in the 11th that could have ended the game much earlier. No disrespect to Gus or Augie but Kentucky runs a little league offense and that will remain true whether they win this series or not. It is not sustainable for long term success.
  8. Strikeouts are a part of this offense. Schloss has said he is willing to see more 2 strike counts in exchange for driving up pitch counts and walking more. I think our walk rate is quite a bit higher compared to last year. There are tradeoffs. I would also say that Schloss’ teams moving forward aren’t going to have black holes in the 8 and 9 spots in the order collecting K’s left and right.
  9. Not sure what the bullpen even looks like tomorrow. Grubbs is spent. Surely they aren’t going to throw Volantis three days in a row considering how careful they’ve been with him. Maybe Dre can give you an inning or two? We are likely going to need someone unexpected to get outs like Howard or Moffett again.
  10. Worst part is you knew about the 10th inning how this one was going to go.
  11. And Kentucky does? They haven’t hit much better. They have been better at purposely sticking their legs and arms out to get hit.
  12. 0-0 pitch right. Down. The. Middle. ball 1
  13. That’s who Duplantier pinch hit for like 6 innings ago
  14. Pitching back to back days
  15. I just do not have good vibes about this game. Will always have a couple of these a year that the baseball Gods just don’t want us to win.
  16. He committed to ASU super early then got hurt late in his HS career so he was somewhat of an unknown with some risk.
  17. Flores is going to get moved to 3B the moment he is drafted but now isn’t the time to mess with that this season.
  18. Bell sticking his elbow out on a pitch that is called strike 3. This isn't baseball.
  19. Oh good a remote broadcasting crew
  20. It’s going to be very interesting to watch. We have 20 position players right now on the roster. My guess is with a 34 man roster limit that number will go down to 15-16 because teams are going to still feel like they have to hoard pitching if they can. If you filter out Cunningham and Fien (both likely 1st round picks), our incoming freshman class has 5 position players and 11 pitchers. That is probably how most classes will look moving forward.
  21. Rodriguez in LF today?? This should be fun
  22. You absolutely use Ruger if we are in position to take the series and the situation makes sense. Schloss has shown he will chase wins at the expense of the next game, especially on the road. And I think that is a good mindset.
