  1. Damn dude - awesome pics. I may just take those and photoshop my family in there like Michael Scott's Christmas card with Carol's family.
  2. Couldn’t take the mental torture. Made the Dart Bowl recipe tonight. Nails.
  3. This thread is peak Surly. I am fucking hungry as hell right now. For the cheese argument, why not both? I've always done my version of the Dart Bowl enchiladas putting EZ melt or Velveeta inside, and top them all with cheddar cheese. And of course the onions and fried egg.
  4. School I teach at (800 students) now in our fourth week back. We are doing 50/50 hybrid with half the kids home one day, then switch the next. Extended passing periods so classrooms can be cleaned. Desks 6+ ft apart. Daily health screening for all entering the building. We've had 5 cases, none of them athletes, and none of them got it from school - all got it at home or from family. Two of them have already done their 2 week quarantine and were back this week. It's been ok. Shorter classes and handling half the kids at home and all the new tech we are using - cameras, multiple monitors, new apps - has been the biggest challenge.
  5. If it’s been mentioned I missed it. Our goto is Newman’s Own. Either pepperoni or cheese. Best grocery store pizza I’ve had. I’ve seen Gino’s East at Kroger - will have to get one next time. Torino’s is a staple. Last one - I know it’s not grocery store pizza but it came to us frozen. Zuppardi’s Apizza. 6 pack. If you’re big into pizza do yourself a favor and check it out. Oh but beware they are on a huge back order. Placed my order in early May and got it a week ago. Now they’re out to October for shipping on orders today. https://www.goldbelly.com/zuppardis-apizza/choose-your-own-new-haven-style-pizza-6-pack?ref=category
  6. Never having seen it before I thought it was breathtaking. The view from above is amazing. And, it did seem to be more steamy than photographs.
  7. The rye is solid. I’ll pick up a bottle to take home too. This one is not as full as I’d like any more. Well looks like we’ll be taking 16 back to Sheridan. Last week I did do the drive up 14 on the east side of bighorn (only to high country - didn’t do the descent). I fully admit to being a wimp at this. Kudos to all you who haul trailers or drive RVs on these roads. It’s humbling to find something that so many people do that can kick your ass. I did feel good finishing the drive in and out of the East gate today. Not something I thought I could do a week ago. Was looking at going all the way around to Billings and the north gate.
  8. Oh and Trailhead tonight for wife’s birthday. Garlic Parmesan fries. Oysters. Arugula salad. Lamb kebabs. Pepperoni Pizza. All fantastic.
  9. Well what a wild ride so far. Monday we got to Cody, took it easy. I went and got a bottle of Single Track Rye per Pato's rec. Kids played at a park, we walked the main street and had lunch before checking into our rental and getting supplies and groceries. I took my oldest to the rodeo and wife and youngest stayed home. Today we left just after 6am and headed to the east gate. Silbey pass may be the most daunting thing I've ever driven. But, we made it in and shortly after getting to end of the descent and circling the lake we saw a grizzly digging for grubs or something. From there it was just a ridiculous day. We stuck to the lower loop and stopped at all the big sites, looked around, hiked. Grand Prismatic from above is the highlight for me. The only thing we missed was Mud Volcano, but we are getting up earlier tomorrow and going to the north end of the Hayden Valley, taking our time to come south before our fishing trip at 10am. For veterans of Yellowstone like Pato and others... here's my question about 14 going east to Sheridan (not 14a). Is that stretch more or less challenging than the east gate from entrance to the bridge? I am not a huge fan of mountain driving and it really racks my anxiety, but I've got my playlist that I use for those times and am beginning to find ways to just deal with it.
  10. ISU when you there? My family arrives Monday. Staying in Cody.
  11. Just booked a fishing charter for a day next week. All the plans coming into place and we're all pretty excited. And as a PSA for anyone else going, right now on the interior, northern loop there's a section between Tower-Roosevelt and the Canyon Village that's completely closed for construction. That makes getting to the Lamar Valley a little trickier coming from the east gate.
  12. Well that seems a tad ambitious with a 3yo and an ornery 10yo. Might be re-thinking that excursion.
  13. So we're heading to Sheridan, WY for a baptism next week (impromptu) and decided we can't take the kids all the way out there and not hit up Yellowstone. The way our schedule sits with the baptism and having to get back to IN for summer school that my wife is teaching, we have 2 nights and 3 days to spend in the park. We booked an Airbnb in Cody. I am going in on this blind and after reading this thread and other sites, I am feeling overwhelmed with just how much there is. I'll take recs on anything from restaurants to eat at, stuff to do, sites to see, roads to travel, etc. Our sons are 10 and 3, so we can't do stuff that's too extreme.
  14. made dough and homemade sauce tonight for pizza with our neighbors on Friday. Used this recipe: http://www.thecookingguy.com/cookbook/2020/5/22/pepperoni-sheet-pan-pizza?rq=sheet pan
  15. It's not a switch question, but rather an NES question and I didn't want to start another thread. Anyone know how to play NES/SNES games online against someone else? I've played all the classic games on emulators but haven't figured out how to do so against people/friends. Been a few years since I've played, so maybe there are ways now.
  16. I teach in Indiana and our school is ending the day by asking us to give the students an online survey asking if they have regular internet access at home. Welp, see everyone in April.
  17. Indianapolis has entered the chat. First confirmed case here. https://www.wishtv.com/news/local-news/indiana-state-dept-of-health-to-give-coronavirus-update/
  18. Not the Gaza strip. West Bank is fairly spread out and not dense in population. But your point is still valid - they're screwed.
  19. I will remove my Catholic discussion from this thread. Not the place for it. Anyone who wants to further discuss can message me or start a new thread.
  20. Bullshit. Asithappens post was about Catholics being reprehensible people for not caring about child abuse (we do care and fuck pedos). The Catholic Church has been around for nearly 2000 years. Your great grandchildren will be witness to it - it ain't going anywhere.
  21. Ah yes, the surly tradition of shitting on an entire group of people because of a few evil bastards. For the record I hope every pedophile priest gets prosecuted, jailed, and assaulted. Not very Christian of me but whatever.
  22. No Catholic I know - as one - would be in a panic over this. I'm not saying there's not Catholics who would panic, but as someone who works in that field, most people are pretty level headed.
