  1. Which makes me think of ol' PreacherBoy, also from the Shag era. Was that guy in Michigan/affiliated with MSU in some way? That was one of the really early squirrel threads back in the day, tracking that dude down. I don't really even remember the details of his misguided foray into the Shag.
  2. IIRC, 2018. Teacher was forced to resign.
  3. No Hulu thread on the first page so whatever, dumping this here. Mel Brooks' History of the World part 2 is coming out in March on Hulu (it doesn't look like there will be hitler on ice like the first movie had in its fake teaser for pt 2). Straight nostalgia and I'm ok with that. I don't think it will be even close to as good as the first, but am hoping since Brooks is involved that it will be somewhat decent.
  4. Randolph Duke's spidey senses tingling. He ever gonna be back?
  5. Has anyone watched all the deleted scenes? Haven't been able to yet. Sat down on Friday after feeding all the in-laws and family breakfast on Friday, sent them on their way, took my kids out to a couple of stores for BF. Sat down, exhausted at 8pm... and ended up in the hospital with 4yo little BGS. He's ok, but I just haven't had any time to sit down and enjoy. Hoping there's some good stuff in there. I've always wondered if there's a deleted pizza scene because of the line Steve Martin says when he finds his wallet empty "maybe, just maybe when you went in there for pizza last night you (cuts off)"
  6. I haven't finished it yet. Have given it 3 tries, each time picking up where I left off... still haven't found the motivation to finish it. I knew it would be bad, but it's globs of chunks in frothy vomit bad.
  7. Re: Zero Drop If we are talking distance running semi-competitive or casually (5k+, and not sprinting…) disagree for so many reasons but as a track coach of 15 years… injuries. Period. So many calf strains among other injuries that would pop up. That being said there are probably stories of runners switching to Nike or hoka from a zero drop and then getting injured. It’s just, in my experience, the exception not the rule. Nike and other top researchers would be developing minimalist shoes rather than moving to more cushion if it were the truly best option. All that said shoes are very personal. Find the one that’s best for you. We invest in vaporfly spikes and running shoes for runners when we can afford them or find deals because it seems to be what our runners like best and doesn’t seem to be a root cause of injuries. I’ll take the discussion to a runners thread or DMs if you want to talk more so I don’t shit on this thread.
  8. Nike Pegasus. The 39 I think is out now. I bought a couple pairs of the 38s from last year for considerably less. Higher performing Nike shoes make differences for elite runners, but for your average jogger or even what I recommend for our JV runners, the Pegasus are just fine. Black Friday sale for extra 20% off all prices. https://www.nike.com/w/mens-running-shoes-37v7jznik1zy7ok
  9. No. That was yesterday. Didn't bother to read all the responses to see what had already been posted and didn't have time to post anything yesterday.
  10. Colts fans are very excited. Excited to move on from another deadass old QB, and excited to see what Sam can do based on his preseason this year (yeah, I know it ain't worth much, but neither is a Colt's ticket at this point). Buddy of mine is the radio play-by-play guy and he texted me yesterday after lunch and was super excited. Irsay has been pushing for Sam for a few weeks including bumping him to QB2 a couple weeks ago - a sign of things to come. One savage detail I heard on the radio here was that Ryan isn't just benched for this week but for the rest of the season, so even if he comes back he'll be QB3 behind Foles. I may be a domer but every now and then I have to represent my home state and wear my longhorn polo. Church on Sunday (downtown near the stadium) will be one of those days. He's got a 4:30 kickoff and the eyes of the NFL (and Texas) will be upon him. Hook em Sam!
  11. "CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Jason Arnie Owens helped carry his father’s casket to the hearse, then turned to embrace a relative. He never made it to the cemetery." Oh, I think he made it there.
  12. Real CFB names for this year (stolen from various sites that do "best names" each season)... Decoldest Crawford Shitta Sillah Blazen Lono-Wong Hot Rod Fitten Bumper Pool Kool-Aid McKinstry Major Burns Dan Smith, BYU
  13. Holy shit what a day. Today was the very best in so many ways. Thoughts, some about the meet, but most not. This is the single hottest gathering of humans I’ve ever been to. Almost all the fans are coaches, athletes at every level, and families of athletes. One older dude I’m friends with ran for us in the Olympics in the late 80s and early 90s. Has kids in college. Multiple ex wives. And a different 25yo with him at the bars every night we went out. The old distance guys make up for partying that they didn’t do in 20s-30s by looking like a Mormon set free from Utah. And my new favorite because she runs my favorite race, is German, and not ugly at all… Luna Thiel. She’s not the hottest but she checks every box for me. And was nice when going around talking to fans after competing in her events while watching. Shame that 4x4 didn’t make the finals. Would love to watch her run in person. I’m technology inept otherwise I’d link her instagram. I’ll upload pics from today. Sad it’s over. Tired. Ready to go home. All in all 3 meet days, 4 nights was the perfect length and price. I did get an offer for an interview as an administrator or teacher, and coach at a local HS. You damn bet I am flying back out to take the interview even if I don’t have a chance of accepting it. It’s been historic. It’s been FAST. It had moments I’ll never see again in my lifetime. It had moments some athletes have waited a lifetime for (Winger in the jav; Ziemek in decath) It was full of youth and promise. 3 of our 4 ladies on he 4x4 in the final were collegiate this season and McG young enough to be in college still. It had upsets! Women 4x1. It had… upsets. Men 4x1. It had sweeps! Men 1 & 2. It had falls. Women 100h. 3 of 4 DQ at some point. No politics (except one protest group from the Tigray Genocide in Ethiopia - which I suggest y’all look up). . It had the very best of humanity. Joys. Cheers. Toasts to other team victories. It had Jamaicans! Oh It had Jamaicans. They are the lifeblood and passion of the sport worldwide. It had shared meals, restaurant tables with multiple languages, peak of human physicality from every nation and race. It had fans who respected and enjoyed each other. It had the unexpected. No traffic. No sirens. No arrests that I saw. No violence. Just fun. It had the sentimental - a proposal one night. It had the hysterical - the French decathlon winner said in his stadium interview when asked if he was tired after these two days… “no I don’t want to sleep. I just want to drink!!!” It had a team of staff and volunteers from the WAC (purple shirts) that was courteous, nice, never running people off like yellow shirts at American events. They ran the meet and managed the people near perfectly. Lines to get in through detectors and ticket scanners never once took more than 2 minutes. Seriously. It had tears - Thankful ones of my saintly wife supporting me to do this even though the cost and missing 4 days with my family. I love this sport, by my family is everything to me. And without them I’d be lost, alone, sad, or some combination of all three. Joyful tears of seeing my favorite American runner just bitch slap the 400m hurdle record and do it running into my face where I sat in the front row on Friday at the top of the back stretch. Excited ones to do this with Sean. He’s been a mentor to me from the time we were rivals and I was HC at another school, to me changing schools years ago (after taking a 5 year coaching break) and asking if he needed a 4x1 coach not knowing where that would lead. This year began with my first state title in indoor. HOLY SHIT!!! ones when mondo did his thing. The power and energy of the entire world, the entire packed stadium cheering on some Swede from Louisiana… it was even more electric than McGs record because it was the capstone to the meet and it ended on a Randy Moss gif sized explosion from everyone. EVERYONE was ecstatic. (his girlfriend more. Hot damn.) Sincere ones. For winger especially but also for every athlete who stood on that top step, got that gold, and cried like a baby to their anthem. Humble ones. To hear our national anthem so many times. Yet at the right time in sports. Not when every little league, AAU, travel soccer tournament, etc begins. Especially when it’s likely parents will get in a fight, an adult will make a kid cry, or someone will say something dehumanizing to an official. Not for the ordinary and the commonplace. No. Our anthem represents courage, honor, and our nation. It’s For the extraordinary, for the exceptional, for the champion. Never heard the anthem like that before. Ever. Hope I get to hear it that way again some day and feel even just a tenth as grateful my soul is and full my heart is now. night assholes. Tomorrow is always another day to go fast. FeedTheCats. (IYKYK)
  14. Last day! Yesterdays womens 4x100 was absolutely electric. And the medal ceremony was damn cool. Hitting some last places today before the PM session. Track town pizza. Wild duck - what a absolute dive bar. Love it. Athing is likey out for the 4x400… either her or Muhammad. Florida Twitter just announced diggs is running tonight in the relay for sure.
  15. Felix running tonight in the 4x4 semis. Still hoping irby gets another shot. She ran for one of our rival schools and her hs coach is staying with us.
  16. Ran Pre’s Trail for my workout this morning. So I’m basically a distance runner now (narrator’s voice: he’s not).
  17. Will post more pics from tomorrow and Sunday. Not first row tomorrow. Wanted to be up higher to have a good view of the entire 4x1. Then Sunday on the home stretch. Hoping for some more special moments! And everything about this trip and meet make it my new number one sporting event of all time ahead of the Baylor mbb national title and watching the Indy 500 in the Andretti suite a few years ago. (Sorry humble brag. Just giving context of how unreal this is)
  18. My other head coach (hs track) and I bought tickets Wednesday and flew here this AM. Got a rental one mile from track for cheaper than a hotel. Today was breathtaking. Never been here before. Feel like a kid at Christmas again.
  19. Just stopping in to add my appreciation of the aggy tradition in Omaha and looking for another 2&Q!
