  1. No sacks allowed tonight. Running game wasn't particularly strong but there weren't a ton of negative plays either, and of course icing the game with a 7 minute drive is a statement. Will have to rewatch at some point to get a better sense for individual performances but the OL was a plus unit today.
  2. Ewers played so well. Over 9 yds/attempt on 63% completion with drops taking several completions and a TD off the board. He also took supremely good care of the ball; except on that 4th and 1 I guess but that cluster fuck worked out. Throws where a Bama DB had a chance to get the ball were few and far between if there were any at all. He just had the one or two deep misses. Didn't take any bad sacks - actually was he sacked at all? I believe that's going to age like fine wine in terms of QB performances in Texas lore.
  3. I think they have a high floor, record wise because the SEC west isn’t exactly filled with world beaters this year. They’re obviously nothing special compared to previous Bama teams but they’re still pretty far to the right of the bell curve in college football. Texas was able to exploit some weaknesses that a lot of teams aren’t necessarily equipped to exploit. It’s a very good road win which is hugely meaningful for this program
  4. I expected another blown second half lead and the game went more or less on that script for three quarters. These guys flipped the fucking script in the final frame. It wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t always pretty, and hell, we learned that some facets of this team have a lot more to work on than we realized. But this team did something tonight that it’s consistently failed to do for two years and was well on its way to failing at again. They found a way to get it done anyway. Yeah Bama gave them some gifts but that’s Bama’s fucking problem. I’m so happy for these kids. Credit to Sark too. He was a (the?) main reason I predicted a L so I would be remiss not to give him his due. Not only was his team prepared for the fight and the environment, one they hadn’t really experienced a true analog for, but that was easily his best called game against a good team at Texas, on the whole. There’s things to work on and it’s likely some setback(s) awaits later this year. But not tonight. Tonight should be savored.
  5. Yeah not another word about his good the WR or DB rooms are. Both groups thoroughly outplayed by Bama. Edit: and yeah there was some egregious holding.
  6. Yeah I don’t think they’re soft. They’re just not that good at football.
  7. Going for it was right. The specific play call not so much.
  8. Ewers is definitely playing the best game he’s ever played against a team with a pulse
  9. This is the worst performance out of a collective WR room I’ve seen since Bama dropped all those passes against Texas last year. Go for it.
  10. Bama trying to refuse Texas handing them the game, then Ant Hill with a really nice play
  11. No I think that’s a bridge too far. It was a pretty low percentage shot. If you want to hold one against him it’s the dropped TD in the first half
  12. Ewers has dropped some dimes tonight. Don’t really fault Worthy for that last one but still it’s frustrating
  13. Those were the good teams on the schedule. What they did against Kansas or a broken Oklahoma isn’t relevant in this context and you know it, as evidenced by you going to the “you’re hoping for a loss” nonsense. Gift from Bama and a great throw and catch from Ewers-Mitchell. Badly needed.
  14. Texas scored 16 third quarter points against Bama, Tech, OSU, KSU, and TCU last year. Not each, combined.
  15. Understand it’s a tough catch but you’ve got to come down with some of those to win a game like this.
  16. My suspicion is the Texas offense will stall in the second half as it almost always has against god teams. If they can put together a couple more sustained scoring drives like their last one, and more importantly finish them with TDs, then yeah they’re in business. Basically they’re going to have to do things they’ve only shown they can’t thus far. We’ll find out if this team is different.
  17. In the prediction thread I called for a halftime lead before Bama wears Texas down. Love the effort, Ewers is playing quite well; but leading 13-6 in a game you should probably be winning 17-3 at minimum, that’s how you lose. Just squandered an otherwise very encouraging half with a loss poor last two minutes. Don’t have a good feeling. Neg away. Also all the talk about Bama’s receivers being JAGs. At least they can catch. Worthy has has at least made some plays to make up for the dropped TD.
  18. I don’t think Utah sucks. Their defense held up admirably the circumstances, even if the prevent defense at the end was bad. Clearly the backup QB they were playing most of the game sucks they should have rolled with the younger kid. And of course Cam Rising is hanging around on the sideline. Opening 2-0 against p5 talent with backup QBs and no tune up game is categorically impressive.
  19. 166-4 total yardage in the fourth quarter lmao
  20. Well the hold may work out for Utah if they can hit the FG. Baylor was at least going to get the ball back (though scoring was unlikely)
  21. Ehhhhhhh it’s technically holding but that’s almost never called with hands inside like that. That’s literally how you’re taught to drive block. Baylor defender didn’t even sell it by trying to spin off the block or anything
  22. LMAO Utah defense said nah we ain’t going to OT after 8 mins of rest
