  1. I’m sure he’ll mullet over
  2. All part of the scheme. Your opponent has no way to prepare for your play style and tendencies when you, yourself, have no fuckin clue what’s going on. Sark Tzu, bitches
  3. If we were to view each game as an isolated event, without any carryover value to the next game, I agree that the QB who provides the best chance of winning gets the nod. I’m just forming my opinion and reasoning from a cumulative aspect. My take is something like the following: Current rating - HC- 73 QE - 71 Rating after 3 games - HC- 77 QE - 81 Point being that although HC may give you the better chance to win on a particular day, his improvement/development per game vs Quinn isn’t as good. Therefore, starting HC over Quinn against ULM doesn’t affect the outcome (we get wins with both), but does limit the progression as to what may we may become later in the year
  4. This years team isn’t in the running to make the playoffs IMO (shocking take, I know). But since I do believe we can be in contention for the Big12 Title, I’m viewing things from a standpoint of the season for us beginning once conference play starts. Therefore, those first 3 games need to be utilized in a manner that best prepares the team for success from game 4 onward (Conference play). For the sake of this discussion, I’m going to attribute a 2-1 record through 3 games no matter which QB starts them. Since W/L record is unaffected, which QB stands to benefit the most from 3 games of play? For me……. Quinn is the pick
  5. As far as a “side”, I simply want the guy who gives Texas the best chance of becoming a successful program again. For that to happen, multiple facets have to be in alignment (coaching stability, recruiting, development, W/L record, optimistic trajectory, etc…). This seasons QB will play a part in all of this. Whether it be Card or Ewers who provides the step forward, I don’t care……. I just care that the step is forward. If I look at things from a statistical probability POV, the “Quinn starting” model appears to have a greater allowable error vs the “Card starting” model. Now this is merely my opinion, but I just want the option that involves the lesser risk in derailing the path to success
  6. Card being QB1 to start the season undoubtedly the single most risky move that Sark can make. It’s the move with the least margin of error. He absolutely MUST hit on it if that’s what the decision is. Run out a starting 5 OL of freshman, decide to never kick a fg, run a 1-5-5 defense, etc….. literally any other move you can think of to be made would have more wiggle room if it didn’t pan out than the “Card is QB1” option. Fool me once, shame on you…… A scenario in which Card starts as QB1 and doesn’t finish the season as QB1 (barring injury) would portray Sark as completely incompetent. The better practice QB wasn’t the best Game QB last year. Allow that to happen again this year, and the optics are beyond devastating. Hell, Sark could be 100% correct in Card being the best option to begin, and Quinn being the better option a few games in……… he just doesn’t have the luxury to play it that way without criticism coming from almost every angle. tl;dr - Card at QB1 is a move that ensures heavy scrutiny in every scenario except him starting all year and lighting it up.
  7. No. Give me Ewers with 3 games experience heading into conference play rather than 1 game. IMO, Reaching the B12CG is very attainable as long as Ewers progresses with each game played. Conference starts with a road game, and I want my QB to have more than 1 start under his belt when he is asked to go win a road opener
  8. Well with 7 home games, Texas may be able to ensure a 7 win floor with Card by just not allowing fans inside the stadium.
  9. Yep, condense the playbook and run the plays the staff has confidence in him being able to execute. He needs as much live gameplay and reps as possible before conference play starts. Hopefully, we will actually adhere to “all gas, no brakes” during actual games. Assuming we have comfortable leads vs ULM/UTSA (if we don’t, then we are fucked), taking the air out of the ball and running the clock should not be the strategy. That time is very valuable to allow the staff to call some plays that are on the “less confident” side of the scale. Will allow the coaching staff to point out and correct any miscues that may occur during the following weeks film study. If that means we are up 24 in the fourth, and slinging a 50yd TD pass…… then so be it. Gotta get the team as ready as they can be by the conference opener.
  10. Unless there’s an issue with accuracy when the velocity is amped, I’d imagine it’s simply something that’s situational. If the intended target doesn’t have great hands, I could easily see a fastball from a talented arm increase the chances of a tip drill pick. I don’t mind a “floater” on the intermediate route if it makes the pass more catchable for the receiver (while still hitting them in stride). In a situation where the window is tight, or loft would allow defender time to make a play on the ball…….. well……let’s just hope our guy isn’t a moron when it’s live fire. A live armed shortstop has 90mph+ in his pocket at all times, but usually won’t use it unless necessary.
  11. That’s how I read it. Austin Gamblers: We are ready to engage in an NIL opportunity with you, but need to ensure you are QB1 before we finalize it. Quinn: Sounds good. I will contact you upon confirmation ***time passes by*** Quinn: Sark told me tonight I’m QB1 Austin Gamblers: Welcome aboard, son. Go ahead and run the twitter video we shot. P.S. Don’t fuckin suck
  12. Just simply ignore reports. Quinn has had the same amount of time to learn the offense this year as Casey/Card did last year. Unless you believe Casey/Card just have some uncanny playbook learning ability over Ewers, you shouldn’t be worried. Now I’m sure that Sarks entire playbook is more complex than what we saw last year, but you run the plays your QB has down, and expand on that once you feel they can handle it. So if we initially have to deal with a restricted playbook at first….. so be it. Give me the playbook ran last year, but with a more talented arm and better weapons.
  13. Well….. they beat Ole Miss by 20+ Last year, and they finished 11th. They’ve beaten a CFP team 5 different times by 17+ points, so that lands you a top 5 spot. I’m guessing as long as we can stay within 30, a nice bump into the top 20 seems justified.
  14. I’m in for 10. 9-3 to end the regular season (7-2 conf). Win CC/lose bowl, or lose CC and win bowl. I tend to believe that our offense will click more and more as the season progresses. Only have one true road game (@ TTech) during the first 7 games of the year. It’s probably as favorable a situation as one can ask for given the circumstances. I see our team ceiling this year as “good”, with the defensive side of the ball denying any chance of “great/elite”. However, besides Bama, none of our opponents have a ceiling higher than “good” either. At the end of the day, the outcome of the season hinges upon how quickly Quinn is able to learn the offense and identify coverages. Simple as that
  15. “Once the scrimmage type of thing started, none of the QBs were comfortable enough in the pocket to take deep shots” So although they’re wearing non-contact jerseys, they were still afraid of being mauled by that ferocious line that simply disregards the non-contact aspect of things?
  16. If he commits, it will put their avg at 92.04. Another one like him puts them below us in avg player ranking. Once that occurs, their talking point becomes…..🤷🏼‍♂️.
  17. Card isn’t beginning the season as starter. It’s Quinn’s job already. Last years fiasco all but ensures this. Sark picked Card last year based on practice reps. Live action revealed that he had made the incorrect decision, and he made the switch to Casey. He’s not going to do that again……..He simply can’t. You cannot be a QB guru and developer and not be able to choose the best QB on your own team to run your offense. The quickest way for Sarks seat to get hot is to choose the wrong starter 2 years in a row, and have the 2nd stringer come in and remain there. It essentially portrays incompetence at selecting the best QB 2 years in a row. Sarks hand is forced here….. Quinn starts
  18. Probably a situation where a couple of their posters hope for something, and then it becomes a “fact” by the next page. Hat tip to LHF, as I’m just stealing screen grabs from his twatter. I’ll now refrain from posting anymore Texags related stuff in this thread
  19. It appears to be a 2024 D-Lineman. And the aggy faithful are pissed about that being what the build up was about.
