  1. You can think it’s ridiculous all you’d like. I see it as a plausible situation. You can say that I’m drinking too much kool aid or whatever, but I’m of the opinion that we’ve increased talent/weapons on the offensive side in multiple positions. Of course, my assessment has a caveat in which we cannot sustain significant lengthy injuries to key players. Texas averaged 45ppg last season prior to Casey being injured (as well as J Whitt). With limited weapons to pick up the slack, our production suffered . This seasons offense will have more playmakers/weapons vs last season IMO. 1st 6 games last year (healthy Casey and J Whitt): 13 three and outs last 6 games (post injuries): 28 three and outs Yes….. I do believe the offensive output you deem to be ridiculous is achievable.
  2. #’s were merely a hypothetical (that I personally feel isn’t far fetched). Although I do believe this offense will be better than last years, my +14.5ppg was my assessment on what this years team would be able to accomplish with an unimproved line vs an improved one. I don’t believe it’s too far fetched to think that an additional TD per half can be obtained with decent OL play vs subpar OL play.
  3. I’m not necessarily holding any one side of the ball to a higher standard. My decision was solely based on me believing one accounts for a greater benefit in point differential opportunities
  4. Well the original options to pick from were an improved defense vs improved OL. Of course I want the defense to improve, but in this particular scenario the improvements to the D would be at the detriment of the OL’s enhanced performance . OL improvement ends up helping the defense by default anyway. Assists in sustaining drives (defense faces less snaps per game/allows rest time), and also enhances the ability to ice the games via ball control
  5. Piggy backing from my previous post, a +5 ppg difference via improved OL still has us giving up 50+, but we win. I don’t care if we win 63-60, or 10-7……. Gimme the W
  6. Well of course everyone would like to not have shit show for one side of the ball. Im just stating that I believe the improved OL would account for a greater point difference than an improved Defense. hypothetically…… +14.5 ppg offensively (improved OL) vs -9.5 ppg defensively (improved defensive) The +5pt diff is the no brainer choice
  7. OL Comment 1 of 4 incoming…. Offensive and defensive rankings are accurate, but I’d still argue that the OL improvement would be more beneficial. A competent OL (for the sake of this response, our improvement here gets us to that level) allows the offense as a whole to function. With the offensive weapons at skill positions this year, I’d argue that a competent OL could realistically add 14+ ppg The decreased pts allowed from a defensive improvement just doesn’t seem like it would be able to overcome the boost that solid OL play would account for 🤷🏼‍♂️
  8. Would you rather him have a big ego and only bring in people with worse résumés?🤷🏼‍♂️
  9. “Our current RB starter is making “X”. We want you as our future RB because we feel you have 1.56x the talent of our current RB” recruit calculates the exact #’s and problem solved
  10. Highly doubtful. Wanna have the entire office building turn into a non-productive shit show? Have a female staff that’s relatively content, then hire a man (Overton) with their same job title. If this payment amount were to be true, the locker room just switched genders. Question: Who is the actual enforcement body concerning NIL laws? It’s certainly not uniform across the board. Sure, the the NIL law is in writing for all to see. But how many are allowed to be broken without consequences? The 10 commandments are in writing for all to see. You can disregard a few of those without fear of much consequence. So how long are we going to obey all 10 commandments, while others are ditching Saturday brunch with their mom, so they can fuck our wife and steal our croots?
  11. So they are just gunna dare anyone to do anything? Looks like it
  12. It will be interesting to see how they juggle it. Lots of moving parts that will require attention on aggy’ send. Assuming the deals with the players are 4 annual installments + up front signing bonus, ROI probably doesn’t even begin to occur until year 2 (year 3 being most likely). They aren’t going to be able to play everyone as a freshman. If you do start the freshman, you’ve now crippled yourself for recruiting that position for the next 2 years. If you don’t play the freshman, your losing $ on your investment each year he waits his turn, while simultaneously having to defend them from being portal poached. If aggy snags player X for $480k ($100k pr/yr + $80k up front), and that player doesn’t start year 1, they are out $180k with nothing to show for it. It’s now off-season…. Portal defense time. Aggy now has $300k left to offer player X. Any poacher willing to match that $300k would be getting said player at 35%+ discount from original aggy purchasing price. Now let’s say year 2 comes around. Player X starts getting rotational snaps and showing flashes of becoming a star. Season 2 ends. Player X is now primed for breakout year. Aggie has now paid player X $280k of the $480k deal. ROI is still very bad, as you’ve paid player X almost 60% of their contract and have only gotten 1/2 a seasons play out of it. Portal defense time. Poachers now see a stud in the making. $200k left on the contract for aggy. 4 schools make the move….. 1 lands him. Over 1/4 million spent by aggy for 1/2 seasons production. Now this is just one scenario, but it’s most definitely a plausible one. How long would their bagmen put up with paying 1/4 million for 1/2 season production? Time will tell
  13. If we are able to replicate a Pancake Factory model for the D-Line, it would be massive. I know, easier said than put into place. However, it should be the next logical play in our NIL strategy. It would basically ensure that Texas has a very high floor every single year on both sides of the line.
  14. In regards to freshman surpassing/replacing players already in the program, I’d say it should only be considered a bad thing if the returning player didn’t improve their skill set. If players are being developed and improving, but still get surpassed, then you tip your cap to the superior talent and roll with them
  15. Well, as far as the O/D lines are concerned, Texas isn’t the only major school who needs years for the position to develop. The lines are a grown man position. Physically, a 21/22yr old who’s been in a collegiate S&C program for years is just going to over power a young buck
  16. Chalk it up to crootin’ games. With NIL, we can show/pitch it to Transfer players (if I’m not mistaken). Can’t do that with high school kids. However, you ARE able to record footage of that NIL pitch being made to a potential transfer target, and blast it on your story where those high school croots are lurking
  17. J Whitt proved to be a good asset when he was on the field playing. B Thompson is a sub 10.4 100 burner. We’ve already seen that Sark will find who is playmakers are and that’s who gets the touches. Splitting out Billingsley would amount to a 3rd WR option depending on the formation. Again, if healthy, talent is there.
  18. Billingsley is a matchup problem in the passing game (assuming we get the motivated version). If we get 2 legit pass catching WR threats along side him, it will be hard to defend. We all want another WR from the portal, but if we just get health from the current roster, I feel it would be adequate. Omeire, Whitt, B Thompson. There is talent here. Unproven for the most part, and need health, but the pieces are here. If we simply have adequate O-line play, I believe the offense will be very hard to defend Edit: I didn’t mention X above, as he was a given
  19. Hell if we simply had “serviceable” position groups, accompanied with “good” RB/QB play, we are in the B12CG
  20. Well I believe an asshole variant was just mentioned in here. Our players will be able to use a buttplug to replace the mask, and that should prevent entry into the body from said variant. Those who refuse the buttplug, will be required a booster. With only 7 doses available, numbers may get tight…….and you should be worried
  21. Lot of handwringing going on about Neyor, and that’s expected. We’ve landed 2 transfers so far this cycle, and both will most likely be starters. Still months left to sign portal players. If we end up whiffing on WR, then feel free to berate the staff. Do they have eyes on a “player to be named” that hasn’t hit the portal yet? Who knows? If they land a WR from the portal better than Neyor, will you give them credit? Probably not. You’ll still find a way to rationalize stars aligning to where the player just fell to them. Pumpers will pump and bitchers will bitch. Stay thirsty, my friends
  22. WR’s caught 26 of those TD’s. How good will he be in an offense that doesn’t allow him to throw to those guys?
