  1. 19 carries for 73 yards. I was talking about running defense if you understand how to read. That's good D. They didn't cover him well in the passing game because they can't cover anyone.
  2. The defense proved again they are solid against the run. They held Vaughan to a mediocre game. But their pass coverage is still garbage. They gave up 300 yards passing to a guy who has been hurt for a month.
  3. Yeah. That was good throw. I am talking about the other passes that weren't very good.
  4. I know. Him missing deep 100% of the time is very tiresome. Are you Ewers girlfriend or something?
  5. Did Ewers hit a long ball tonight? His value is hitting that throw to Worthy a couple of times a game. If he can't do that maybe Card is a better option because he is a bit more mobile. Early on Ewers was hitting those throws but hasn't since OU.
  6. Adrian Martinez has been hurt for a month he looks like a Heisman candidate tonight. Texas does this every week.
  7. This is very similar to every other loss Texas has had under Sark. Against OSU offense scores 31 in 1st half and 3 in 2nd. Same trajectory here. And I'm sorry Ewers isn't that good. He has lots of throwing talent but it isn't translating. He starts because supposedly he could hit the deep passes. He can't now. Card could hit the intermediate stuff too. I know I know it is his first year. But there was a chance to win conference this year. Sark has a responsibility to put together a team that will win this year. Now maybe the team turns it around and wins by 21, but this is where we are right now.
  8. At some point you have to get angry and beat the man in front of you. This team doesn't. When the other team increases the level of intensity you have to do the same. Oh and protect the football.
  9. There are 4 more games for the QB position to demonstrate a significant upgrade over last year in terms of output. There is a decent chance of that with Kansas and TCU still to play. But KSU and Baylor aren't going to be pushovers on defense. So far the numbers are show what they show regardless of what the ceilings are for the players we are talking about. The data I showed included Card too, it isn't just Ewers vs Thompson. That evens out the comparison for competition too. If you can make me. Go ahead and try.
  10. How else do you evaluate output except by the data? Ewers is ahead on the development curve, but that is not what I was talking about. Or is your misunderstanding on purpose?
  11. Here are the QB stats comparing 2021 to 2022 NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% AVG LNG TD INT SACK SYL RTG Quinn Ewers QB 82 142 1,139 57.7 8 46 11 5 2 -10 143.6 Hudson Card QB 74 107 923 69.2 8.6 45 6 1 8 -62 158.3 156 249 2,062 0.626506024 8.281124498 17 6 257.75 ypg 25.5 9 adj to 12 games Total NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% AVG LNG TD INT SACK SYL RTG Casey Thompson QB 165 261 2,113 63.2 8.1 75 24 9 16 -102 154.7 Hudson Card QB 51 83 590 61.4 7.1 52 5 1 10 -58 138.6 216 344 2,703 0.62790697 7.85755814 29 10 225.25 ypg Looking at the data, this year the yards per attempt is up overall. The improvement comes completely from Card's improvement. Ewers and Thompson were equal in that stat. Following this the yards per game is up about 30 yds from last year. That's better but not "all that much better" as I said. Completion % is the same. The TDs are below pace from last year and the interceptions basically the same. I think the data bears out what I was saying.
  12. You didn't? On the plus side no turnovers, but the YPA and total yards were bad. The completion % was okay, but that is about it. Texas Att Comp Comp % Yards Yards/pass TD Int Sacks/Yards QB Rating Quinn Ewers 26 17 65 % 172 6.6 3 0
  13. Only Texas needs a roster of 4+ stars 2 deep in order to field a strong defense. Iowa St, Kansas St., Oklahoma St., TCU, Baylor all take what they have and develop/teach them into being very good. It is a consistent cop out that those writing about Texas use. The fact is every QB Texas plays has their best game of the year. The one thing about the defense that has been a positive is that the running defense has been much better in 2022. The special teams have been much better this year. Honestly I am not sure the QB performance has been all that much better than last year. I think we all agree the Ewers/Card are better prospects than Thompson. But the last 2 games have been rough for Ewers. He has to get back to his earlier form before this is a clear positive for the year.
  14. Not sure. I would say the defensive staff needs a total over haul. The offensive staff is basically Sark, so you would need to replace him to make changes on offense. There needs to be a coach on accountability or something. Adding a special role on the staff would be positive.
  15. At least Kansas is still on the schedule. Still SHOULD win that one. 7-5 probably the absolute ceiling for Texas.
  16. I think KSU is showing us even more how bad of a loss last week was. Not sure the chances Texas has to beat KSU, TCU, and maybe even Baylor. Texas has more base talent than all these others by a decent margin.
  17. I thought BWG was a Texas fan. But it really sounds like he is a fan of offensive style points. Some styles are more fun to watch than others, but if Texas is winning games I'm happy. Beard had to build a team from scratch last year, ended our tournament losing streak, and had a real chance to make it to the Sweet 16. I'm with Beard.
  18. It is both. Not focusing in on the details breeds sloppiness which is a cultural issue. But it is absolutely bad coaching.
  19. Doesn't that mean lack of accountability for not performing? Including not enough attention to detail by the coaches when planning, teaching, and evaluating the players?
  20. Texas plays @ Kansas State in 2 weeks. It's the Bermuda Triangle for longhorn QBs. I am not confident enough to say it will be better.
  21. That is reasonable to say, but what if he throws a couple of pick 6s? You can't assume any peak or valley with Texas football. That is the lesson since 2010. Just watch and comment. Assuming anything either way will make you a fool. If this was Ewers worst game ever then I am glad we will never have to see worse. But I won't assume anything except that Texas can surprise the fans in the most negative of ways.
  22. Why can't he be that bad again? He was bad against ISU. I hope you are right. But I am in a show-me state. Ewers showed how bad he can be. He could be worse. He has also shown that he can be very good. I won't predict what he will be next week. No reason to assume anything now. Let's just watch and comment on how he performs week to week.
  23. Quan makes a good point. If it is on the players doesn't that mean those underperforming should be replaced for those who will perform? If there aren't any that can come in and do better isn't that back on coaches?
