  1. If they throw another go route I am going to throw my remote control.
  2. Need to keep running the plays where there were 2 drops. Those plays are open.
  3. Good point. I skimmed the title too quickly I guess. The relevant point then would be that the 2nd half could have been much better if Sanders was used the same way in the 2nd half or if they covered that have a wrinkle to get Whittington open.
  4. Regardless Texas has a 6 game win streak against KSU. That is a great turn of events from the early Big 12 days! Hookem!
  5. I've never said he sucks or is over rated. I have commented on performance to date and how it compared to QB performance last year. Ewers makes throws that no other Texas QB can, at times, but that hasn't translated to a big step improvement in QB play. Early on it looked like it would even with his inexperience because he was completing long passes. I think this is where his injury hurt him. Maybe everything clicks in the last 3 games and he reaches his potential. But the last 3 games haven't been good overall. They just haven't by any objective standard.
  6. Ha! I have been seriously negged for saying the same thing tonight. I agree. But more I think Ewers is playing his first year in major college football. Not sure we can expect much more this year. The hope is next year he makes the 2nd year jump. But yeah, he isn't there yet.
  7. Can you feel the sunshine?! If he was honest he would say this team could end up 6-6 or 9-3 because they don't play consistent enough on either side of the ball to make meaningful predictions. All we know is that they will play poorly down the stretch. The hope is that the team gives an extra measure of effort to make a play late to win. That is how they won tonight. It is how they beat ISU. Not making that play on defense resulted in the 3 losses. It will be razor thin each game. Anything is possible.
  8. Ian just doesn't seem like he makes the logical connection here. Martinez hadn't played in a month but threw for over 300 yards. That wasn't because how great he was. It was because of the very poor defense Texas presented. His comments are strange. The did good except for all those times when they gave up big plays. Keeping receivers in front of the D isn't that important when the DBs are 3 yards away when the opponent catches a first down.
  9. This was all in the 1st half. Sanders caught a couple of balls on the perimeter in the 2nd half. If Sark keeps calling plays to the middle maybe the offense unlocks more success later in the game.
  10. This is a lame brain statement obviously if you compare the OSU game to the KSU game. Sark really cooked something up special to do the exact same thing as 2 weeks ago.
  11. It was obvious early last year that PK wasn't very good. Minimum Sark needs to replace Joseph and Gideon and get coaches that mesh well with PK's schemes. But that is bare minimum. Need to go poach a proven DC, maybe Heacock, maybe Patterson. I don't know.
  12. That is not a fair representation of what I am saying.
  13. Yeah. Wish Texas would have hired him. Kelly has been an immediate improvement at LSU.
  14. It isn't turtling. It is ramming your head into a wall when you should turn right and walk through the doorway.
  15. 19 carries for 73 yards. I was talking about running defense if you understand how to read. That's good D. They didn't cover him well in the passing game because they can't cover anyone.
  16. The defense proved again they are solid against the run. They held Vaughan to a mediocre game. But their pass coverage is still garbage. They gave up 300 yards passing to a guy who has been hurt for a month.
  17. Yeah. That was good throw. I am talking about the other passes that weren't very good.
  18. I know. Him missing deep 100% of the time is very tiresome. Are you Ewers girlfriend or something?
  19. Did Ewers hit a long ball tonight? His value is hitting that throw to Worthy a couple of times a game. If he can't do that maybe Card is a better option because he is a bit more mobile. Early on Ewers was hitting those throws but hasn't since OU.
  20. Adrian Martinez has been hurt for a month he looks like a Heisman candidate tonight. Texas does this every week.
  21. This is very similar to every other loss Texas has had under Sark. Against OSU offense scores 31 in 1st half and 3 in 2nd. Same trajectory here. And I'm sorry Ewers isn't that good. He has lots of throwing talent but it isn't translating. He starts because supposedly he could hit the deep passes. He can't now. Card could hit the intermediate stuff too. I know I know it is his first year. But there was a chance to win conference this year. Sark has a responsibility to put together a team that will win this year. Now maybe the team turns it around and wins by 21, but this is where we are right now.
  22. At some point you have to get angry and beat the man in front of you. This team doesn't. When the other team increases the level of intensity you have to do the same. Oh and protect the football.
  23. There are 4 more games for the QB position to demonstrate a significant upgrade over last year in terms of output. There is a decent chance of that with Kansas and TCU still to play. But KSU and Baylor aren't going to be pushovers on defense. So far the numbers are show what they show regardless of what the ceilings are for the players we are talking about. The data I showed included Card too, it isn't just Ewers vs Thompson. That evens out the comparison for competition too. If you can make me. Go ahead and try.
  24. How else do you evaluate output except by the data? Ewers is ahead on the development curve, but that is not what I was talking about. Or is your misunderstanding on purpose?
  25. Here are the QB stats comparing 2021 to 2022 NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% AVG LNG TD INT SACK SYL RTG Quinn Ewers QB 82 142 1,139 57.7 8 46 11 5 2 -10 143.6 Hudson Card QB 74 107 923 69.2 8.6 45 6 1 8 -62 158.3 156 249 2,062 0.626506024 8.281124498 17 6 257.75 ypg 25.5 9 adj to 12 games Total NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% AVG LNG TD INT SACK SYL RTG Casey Thompson QB 165 261 2,113 63.2 8.1 75 24 9 16 -102 154.7 Hudson Card QB 51 83 590 61.4 7.1 52 5 1 10 -58 138.6 216 344 2,703 0.62790697 7.85755814 29 10 225.25 ypg Looking at the data, this year the yards per attempt is up overall. The improvement comes completely from Card's improvement. Ewers and Thompson were equal in that stat. Following this the yards per game is up about 30 yds from last year. That's better but not "all that much better" as I said. Completion % is the same. The TDs are below pace from last year and the interceptions basically the same. I think the data bears out what I was saying.
