Lol. 7-5 is not the ceiling. There’s no such thing as a definite loss, especially when you try to group 4 games together as definite losses. If you give aggy even just a 13% chance to win each of their 4 tough games, then there’s a more than likely chance they win 1 of those 4 and other than those, they have a charmin soft schedule.

Arkansas and Ole Miss are certainly not toss ups. aggy will and should be heavily favored in those games.

their record will be between 6-6 and 9-3 with the two middle options being the heavy, heavy favorites to be the outcome.

Exactly, they are very likely to win 8 games next year. I expect them to be better on paper than Arkansas, SC, both Mississippi schools, and maybe Auburn.

and to those asking legitimately about the wr and oline, i think quartney davis is about to have a huge year, and he's 12 more months beyond his acl. ausbon is overrated but a chain mover - if rogers can play consistently i like our group, if not, the nod probably goes to texas.

at oline, i think we're going to be better than people think. carson green has a chance to play his way into the draft, mccollum is going to surprise people at center, and dan moore quietly had a great 2nd half of the year. we'll be good at one guard, the question is if we get the production we need at the other guard spot to get us where we need to be.

This is such a good message board post.

No, no one is saying that about every recruit we lose. It’s being said about every recruit we miss out on to aggy, Jawja, tOSU, Oregon, USC, Clemson, Bama.. hell, even Florida when Rogers committed there. I get it, they pay players, but does it really need to be the center of the fucking circle jerk every time one of our top targets commits to one of those schools? It’s progressively gotten to the point where it’s turning aggyish. We know they pay, we know we don’t pay (or at least enough idk), but get over it. No need to bitch every. Single. Time.

I agree it's becoming very aggyish. We fucking get it, some schools' old people are willing to pay recruits and their circle more than our old people. You don't have to type O$U every time we lose a recruit to Ohio State, especially when you were crying about Javonne $heppard for 3 months last year.

when is there ever "proven depth" in going into a new season of cfb?

most proven depth from the previous year, is a starter the next year...

That is a fair point. I guess "proven" is the wrong word. I really meant either players with a high pedigree like Jalen Green, Jamison or Overshown, or players who were lower ranked but have flashed in limited playing time like Chris Brown. We don't really have that along the defensive line (yet), for reasons that have been discussed ad nauseam in the recruiting forum. But, I think our starters this year are good enough and will be protected enough by our elite secondary that defensive line will not be an issue so long as Coburn and Roach can stay on the field.

lulz. 5 of those guys are better than Hager, who we started last year. Our DL talent and depth is absolutely improved.

As I implied, the combination of TQ, Coburn and Roach can be better than Charles, Nelson and Hager, primarily because of Coburn’s talent and the fact that Hager self-immolated on the field week after week. But the supposed “depth” doesn’t have a single proven player outside of maybe Wilbon proving that he’s serviceable. Hopefully our coaches nailed the Ojomo, Jones and Carson evals. We’ll see.

One of the best things about this defense is, outside of LB, we have quality depth at every position. For the first time in ages, we can sustain an injury to a frontline starter and not have to plug in a total JAG or a true freshman who’s not ready to play.

The last two years when injuries hit, the defense has fallen off a cliff. I’m hopeful we can sustain a more consistent level of play due to our depth this year.

You have more confidence than me in the backup defensive line of Wilbon, Christmas, Chisholm, Bimage , Ojomo and Jones. To me it looks like one average guy in Wilbon, two below JAGs, and three unknowns. Ojomo and/or Bimage could absolutely be much improved after an offseason, but neither looked great to me when playing last year.

I do think we've really improved across the starting defensive line when compared to Herman's first two years. Coburn has a chance to be special.

Wtf is vodka Tom referencing? And why would you choose that over a hookers and blow comment?

Two years ago every dolt on TOS was calling Kevin Sumlin "Rumlin" and the like. It's just a derisive moniker aimed at Herman because he likes to party, no different than our treatment of Sumlin.

Have settled into a pretty strong gym routine. Been almost every single weekday since this post and even the last two Saturdays.

I've also been pretty good about eating well and laying off the sauce during the week, but still have a bad habit of blowing it out all weekend. Net result being that I'm in much better "shape" (feel stronger and regained some muscle definition) than a month ago but only have dropped 3-4 lbs. Oh well.

We are living a similar life with similar results. I let myself gain 15 lbs over the last two years. My suits started to feel tight this spring, so I decided in June I needed to shed the extra weight.  Have gone to the gym + cardio 4-6 times a week since June 1, eating Keto-ish all but 3-4 meals a week and cutting way back on alcohol Monday-Friday. The problem I have is wine consumption on the weekend. Food and wine is such a big part of our social life, it’s been really difficult to cut that back as far as I need to. I was down 8.5 lbs this morning, but that will probably only be 6.5 by the time Monday rolls around.

Props to those of you who have been able to completely change your lifestyle to get the results you want.

If he is really concerned with building mystery and tension for maximum attention, I gotta say that it lowers my opinion of him and those raising him. I still want him to come here, but I really hate this crap.

I know the crap has been created by the fierce interest and media coverage, but I don't think it's doing anybody much good.

Just assume every top tier DL/RB recruit is going somewhere else. Texas is the Knicks when it comes to attracting Tier 1 RD/DL talent these days.

This where I am, particularly with DL. I will be pleasantly shocked if Broughton picks us, but until that time I just assume he’s gone.

That said, it’s clear at the very least that Broughton has not informed the A&M coaches of his decision, which I suppose one could take as a positive sign if one is a recruiting masochist.

Just an interesting factoid, the 5th floor of that building used to be Robert Mapplethorpe's studio.

I've since been dragged to the west village by my wife, but I used to live on mott between prince and houston. Agree those are a great couple of blocks to wander around.

  12. One cheap thing I do with folks when they visit is catch an East River ferry at 35th Street and take it all the way down to Wall Street. It gives you a cool viewing of the city while going under all three lower Manhattan bridges, and then you can walk around the wall street/world trade center area when you get off. Alternatively, you could get off at the DUMBO stop and do that whole thing, then walk across the Brooklyn Bridge back to Manhattan.

China Town for dim sum (Nom Wah, Joe's, Jing Fong, etc.). Since it's your first time, Manhattan China Town will suffice.

Washington Square Park in the summer is one of my favorite places to be. I have a feeling your 14 year old son will enjoy as well.  If you are trying to stay uptown, Bryant Park or Sheep's Meadow in Central Park would suffice.

John's on Bleeker seems like a good idea with kids, as does a baseball game.  The food at Citi Field is better than the food at Yankee stadium FWIW.

I think they had to overpay Green as a consolation for having to ask him to wait.    He was going back to TOR if Kawhi did.   He would have got a decent offer if he just went ahead and signed elsewhere.    At the end of the day its only two yrs so if worse comes they can dump him next yr.   Its not like they are gonna have real space available next summer so that contract isnt stopping them from doing anything then either.

Watching D20, P, MBU, etc. circle the wagons for LeBron-constructed teams is like watching me convince myself that the 3 star JAG Oscar Giles signs after whiffing on all the top targets is actually a diamond in the rough. The price of fandom.
