Good luck picking teams 6-8 in the West next year. Have to think 1-5 will be the Jazz, Nuggets, LAL, LAC and Rockets in some order. 6-8 will be a free for all between Portland, SAS, OKC, Kings, and Mavs. Portland is the only one of those teams I would feel confident picking to make the final 8.

    Warriors?

Argh, fixed. I would include them in the latter category of the teams fighting for 6-8.

On a positive note, if we project this class on out with Dorbah, CTJ, and Lindberg along with some other likely candidates from within the state we should end up with an overall composite of ~270.  If a few higher profile recruitments end up going our way (i.e. Johnny Wilson, flip McClellan, etc.) we could end up close to 290.  In any normal year that's a borderline top 10 class with potential for top 5.

Bottom line:  A blinding glimpse of the obvious, but this season is going to be critical to our long term progression.  We need to win 10 and make the B12 game at a minimum.  Win the B12 and the sky is the limit.  Achieve neither and TH is going to have to make several changes.

We did both last year, and TH already needs to make several obvious changes.

  3. I think that’s a really good Philly team, though they will continue to run into the same issues that plagued them in this year’s playoffs.

Already can’t wait for next season. In the East, the Bucks, 76ers, Celtics and Pacers should all be really fun next year. In the sweet, obviously the Lakers will be formidable, but the Jazz should be fucking awesome. And if Curry can get the Warriors a playoff spot, they will be scary to a top seed with Klay back.

And, of course, Kawhi could make the Clippers or Raptors and instant contender.

    TEAM DEPTH CHART

Nickel: Thompson then Foster. This will be a real competition. Each has also worked at boundary safety.

Joker: Overshown, Foster (Overshown has also repped at boundary safety. Other than the pure corners the defensive backs cross-train all over the place).

There is 0.00% change that Foster is not a starter at one of these positions.

  5. As a completely unrelated aside based on your username,  there’s a place called Lobo in Cobble Hill in Brooklyn that’s the closest thing to real TexMex I’ve found here.  Opened by a guy from Austin and a guy from El Paso....

Just looked this up and looks pretty good. It’s probably the thing I miss most about Texas, so I’m going to have to try this soon.
  6. It's really amazing to see that many great players well below their normal shooting averages, which I believe shows the extreme pressure/high defensive intensity of the opponent/etc of making this kind of shot.  As great as Steph is, (and you are probably comparing him to Top 20ish all-time type players as a reasonable starting reference point) you have to at some point hold this against him overall.

The NBA pantheon is one of my favorite dumb sports topics to discuss or think about. I love watching Steph play and think he’s cemented himself as a Top 20 player all time. This finals, he had an opportunity to elevate to an even higher level ala LeBron in 2016, but just couldn’t get it done despite being awesome in 4 of the 6 games. For what it’s worth, I think my Top 20 would be:

    1. MJ
    2. LeBron
    3. Kareem
    4. Russel
    5. Magic
    6. Wilt
    7. Duncan
    8. Bird
    —- (drop off)
    9. Kobe
    10. Jerry West
    11. Shaq/Hakeem
    12. Hakeem/Shaq (I go back and forth)
    13. Oscar
    14. Moses
    15. Dirk
    16. Durant (I think he’ll pass 13-15 in time)
    17. Elgin
    18. Curry
    19. Havlicek
    20. Dr. J

  7. There is nothing ignorant about this post, nor how I raised my kids.  In any event, it's moot - they're both over the age of 18, and have been for awhile.  I'd do it again like that 50 times over.  That's why that particular vaccine is voluntary, and no doctor ever pushed me or my kids to get it.  Period.  They were good with our decision.
Although, you clearly know what's better for my kids' "protection" than I did, well I did ok.  My kids are just fine.Tell you what, I'll call you over, you can explain to the four of us how we're dumb shits, and then we'll all have a good laugh at your expense.  You seem to be knowledgeable about what each and every family's discussion is with their kids, and the authority to make these decisions for all of us.
You must have been applauding Rick Perry's ordering young girls to get this vaccine in 2007 (until  he reversed himself, which must have been a bad day for you).  See, families discuss this.. .this isn't some post-natal thing that's a no-brainer like measles or the various "baby vaccines" (to your shock, we got them all as recommended).  The kid is involved, and we all discussed it and the pluses and minuses, and again, here's the catch - our doctor supported our decision.  I hope you got that part.  My kids have always, no let me italicize that, always been straight with their parents.  Sure they're kids and did shit they didn't tell us, but not this.  They knew and were responsible.  For us, it was the right way to go.  What others do is also up to them, and I support both sides (if you don't know/trust your kids enough, make 'em get it).  We were right  - AND informed - on our decision and my kids are just fine, no, better than fine.  But thanks for playing, lovely parting gifts on the way out.

Perhaps some day again, the State of Texas will order families to get this, then maybe you'll feel better.  The first time they tried it though, eesh...
Families can/should do what they decide.  The OP asked for opinions/experiences and I gave mine.  Whether you agree with it or not didn't, and won't change one thing about our decision - you know, the right one.

This entire post is really breathtaking.

The warriors are a shell of who they are at full strength. Kd is out, klay is probably at 70%, boogie is out of rhythm, looney is hurt and playing but they are not healthy and if they were Toronto would not be up 3-1.

If there is ever an asterisk championship this is definitely one.

No championship has an asterisk. Every NBA championship team has had "luck" in some form or fashion. The 2015 Warriors benefited from the Kyrie injury, the 2016 Cavs probably lose in 5 if not for Draymond's nut kick, Bogut's injury and Steph being hobbled, the 2017 Warriors benefited from the Kawhi injury, the 2018 Warriors benefited from the CP3 injury, and the 2019 Raps benefited from basically the entire Warriors team exploding.

Asterisks are just for opposing team's fans to make themselves feel better. For example, I will forever believe that the 2006 Mavs were robbed of a title by the NBA refs and therefore the Heat championship has an asterisk.

  9. Anybody have a good hotel recommendation around 14th street, west side of the island?

When my parents visit us they often stay at the Walker on 13th or the Marlton on 8th. Both pretty solid boutique-ish hotels that aren’t too pricey. If you go farther west than 8th Ave you’ll run into Meatpacking hotels.

It does kind of have that Sixers/Lakers series feel to it where AI willed the Sixers to a shocking win in Game 1, then got throttled.  This Raptors team is much better than that Sixers team, but I just don't know if they can hang with GSW for the entire series

I think it has more of a 2004 Lakers-Pistons feel.

  11. Draymond at this weight and intensity is worth all the monies to a KD-less Warriors, even if his 3 point shot is still broken. Fat, unhinged Draymond is worth much less.
My guess is, next season, he shows up ripped and shooting for an All-NBA team or DPOY. If they make another Finals--or even a tough-fought WCF loss, what can you tell him?

If/when KD leaves, I 100% believe Draymond will have his best season since 2016 next year.

    Kawhi's last two postseasons:

    27.7/7.8/4.6 on 52.5/45.5/93.1%

    31.4/8.4/3.6 on 51.2/41.1/88.7%

Both of those offenses basically devolved into, "Here's the ball, Kawhi.  Please do something." and his efficiency is still absurd.

He's been incredible. Pretty amazing that the two best players in the NBA (KD and Kawhi, in my opinion) are likely to change teams this offseason.

I’ve never understood this comparison. A big part of what made KDs move so egregious is the fact that he joined the team that knocked him out of the playoffs the year before, after he was up 3-1 against them. If Lebron would’ve joined the Celtics, or even the lakers during the last stages of Kobe’s prime years, it would’ve been a little bit more comparable, but still not as bad as what KD did. And by bad, I mean in terms of balance of power in the nba.

I'm not saying they are apples to apples, and I largely agree with the differences you point out. Just that the championships won would be viewed similarly (i.e., not as important as carrying a team "yourself" (even though that is often a fallacy as well)).

Also, when you say “especially wade” I think most basketball people would say that Wade would rank higher on the list of all time players. I’m not saying I agree with it, but national perception is that wade was probably a better player than dirk

Really? That would be profoundly wrong. I admittedly listen to mostly Bill Simmons and other Ringer podcasts, so I might be basing my view on him ranking Dirk in the Top 15 of all time, and ranking Wade somewhere in the Top 40 or so.

I don’t even know if this is a hot take, but I think most people would agree that Dirk’s one championship and finals MVP does more for his legacy than Durant’s 2. Wade winning one before lebron got there does more for his legacy than Durant’s 2 finals mvp’s. The list of players like that can go on and on. Or maybe it can’t, because I can’t think of anymore lol, but you get my point. He didn’t need to do this to himself lol.

Maybe. If Durant stayed in OKC and squeaked out one championship (which I think is unlikely with Westbrook by his side), that one championship would be better than one championship in Golden State, but it isn't better than three championships and multiple Finals MVPs in Golden State.  And in any event, Wade and Dirk's solo championships might mean more individually than any of KD's, but few would argue either Dirk or Wade is a better player than KD (especially Wade).

Ultimately,  I think KD's rings with Golden State will be viewed similar to LeBron's in Miami, in that it would be far better for his legacy to have won three in GSW than to pull a Karl Malone in OKC and never cross the finish line. It took the Cleveland championship to elevate LeBron into the GOAT conversation, and it will probably take a similar individual performance from KD to put him in the Top 10 or so.  To his credit, it seems like he realizes that and is about to start an new era of his career.

So Bran and Sansa are the King and Queen of Westeros? That's your argument? If so, what is Sansa's kingdom of the North "independent" from?

Great derail guys, just A+ effort. Really adding a lot of important information and fun commentary.

Can you maybe just shut the fuck up if you insist on being this obtuse? You've already stated that you only watched two episodes of this show, so it stands to reason that the posters in this thread just might be more knowledgeable of this TV fictional universe than you. Cersei took the Iron Throne at the end of Season 6 after Tommen kills himself. Sansa is the Queen of the North which is now an independent kingdom from the Six Kingdoms of Westeros. As you know, none of this has happened in the book universe (yet).

And FWIW, I am on your "team" in the CR, but your posts in this thread are completely nonsensical.
