  1. The biggest football rivalry in the new Big 12 is easily Farmageddon, the game that Kansas State always wins due to some hilarious Iowa State fuckup, other than last year when Iowa State won by about 60 points.
  2. Can someone from out of state sue a Texan who has an abortion under this law? Could someone surveil an abortion clinic in Oklahoma City, write down all of the Texas tag numbers, and then start suing the owners of the vehicles in Texas?
  3. Good luck getting God to show up to court.
  4. Yeah, it feels like I heard a Nickelback song, kind of liked it, and then made the mistake of going to see them in concert. Never going to mention that one.
  5. I don't really think most people watch college football based on the quality of the product on the field. It's more about supporting the school you attended, or supporting a local school in your state, etc. Nobody watches the XFL, and the quality of players there are sort of similar to elite college football. So cutting the low quality teams probably actually cuts eyeballs because people who watched those games aren't going to start caring about games across the country. And you also lose the ability to hype up a big matchup between an 11-0 team and a 9-2 team because there will be very few teams with records like that.
  6. I think the collection of schools participating might look somewhat different if a new mega-league were to be formed vs going with the 4 existing conferences. I don't think the bottom half of the B1G would make the cut, anyway. Well, Nebraska would make the cut. Their peers (Indiana, Rutgers, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern) would get left out.
  7. Moving forward, "on the field" will matter more than anything else. TV sets will be less important than actual viewers, and I think the B1G will regret decisions like adding Maryland and Rutgers.
  8. The B1G really isn't comparable.
  9. It's probably the smarter investment, the way things look. The people who care about college sports will become even more regionalized than they already are as more schools get left out of leagues that matter and rivals stop playing games. The pieces of the pie get bigger, but the pie itself gets smaller.
  10. I can think of a few reasons the Pac might want to add Big 12 teams. 1. They can't even get Directv to carry their network as things are now. It's not a very forward-thinking reason, but it's a reason. 2. There is a lot of uncertainty as to how the 12 team playoff will work, and dissolving the Big 12 eliminates any chance that the Big 12 gets an auto-bid. Makes it a lot more likely for the Pac to get multiple schools into the playoff. 3. The smaller schools in the Pac are probably leery of losing a few big programs to the Big 10 and might want to pre-emptively expand. I don't think they will add anyone, though.
  11. I'm not sure if any of these schools actually have any options. Maybe the ACC wants West Virginia. I don't really know anything about them. Kansas? They have a top tier basketball program, but so did UConn. The only investment Kansas has made in football since the big conference realignment windfall they got in revenue money is the removal of the track. They might end up somewhere, but it's hard to argue they deserve to. Kansas State is at least trying with facilities, but they don't have viewers. Texas Tech has fewer viewers than Kansas State. Oklahoma State has the best odds of finding a life raft, in my opinion. I'm just not sure how much a major conference would covet the second best program in Oklahoma.
  12. It's because nobody likes OU. They have been shitheads since the dawn of time, so OU leaving you to die is expected behavior.
  13. Maybe I am just stupid, but I think this movie looks like it's going to be the best film of 2021.
  14. Never bet against a cop on trial.
  15. I view a conviction of manslaughter as walking in this case. He committed 1st degree murder on camera.
  16. I wouldn't expect Abbott to just stand up and let him take it.
  17. The interesting thing about that map is that the eastern 1/3 of Colorado is basically indistinguishable from Kansas. I would bet their obesity rate is closer to 10% if you only look at the mountain part.
  18. The IRS should do your taxes for you without itemized deductions, and then send you a statement allowing you to itemize and do your own taxes if you wish to do so. That is the reform that is needed most.
  19. I think Don Jr's outrage is understandable. Even if we haven't heard of these books, they are 6 books that he's capable of reading, which constitutes a substantial portion of books that fit into that category.
  20. Sure, but if everyone else got the vaccine, you should be fine to come into work. If half of the office has some sort of religious exemption, then god will sort them out as their religion dictates he should.
  21. I think your job would be taking reasonable enough actions to keep you safe by mandating the vaccine.
  22. Comedians are overly sensitive to the cancel culture thing because their careers depend on the ability to offend people. Dr. Seuss is a very poor example because Dr. Seuss Enterprises asked for the books to stop being published. It's like if Cardi B's kids 50 years from now were to get together and ask if the radio would please stop playing WAP because it makes them feel uncomfortable.
  23. I would say very very hard. Hell I know I would go live in a van in NYC and get that cost of living basis then come back to cheaper place in Texas lol I don't think the NY minimum wage would be enough for you to afford to park your van.
