Though not technically set in the west, Quigley Down Under is a guilty pleasure of mine.

John Mayer is so awful that he singlehandedly makes Dead & Co. completely unappealing to me. He's obviously very technically proficient but his voice and even his guitar tone are just nauseating. Actually now that I think about it he is kind of the PRS of guitar players. Sure it's well made, there's clearly skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail going on, but somehow it all just adds up to being really bland and offputting at the same time.
Look at this thing. Fuck this thing. It looks like how John Mayer sounds.
I like it a lot except for the goofy dragon thing.

I burned out on this show a few seasons ago. It got too "reality showy" after many years of great authentic doc type material.

Plus, I'm not sure Dez is a Seahawks kind of guy. They use a lot of smaller, speedy journeyman types and probably wouldn't be chomping at the bit to get a guy like Dez.

A straight up Dez for Earl wouldn't be the worst idea ever. But I think a couple of things keep that form happening. Earl is in his contract year and will be a free agent in 2019 and probably will demand stupid money, so he's probably a rental. Dez is still under control for two years, but they still have a reasonably cheap opt-out option at the end of 2018.
And there's simply no player on the Cowboys roster or in the draft that can be expected to be a number one recevier with any amount of confidence.
So I continue to believe Dez isn't going anywhere, and perhaps will give the Cowboys some salary relieve with some incentives to gain back some lost income, perhaps even more, if he steps up and performs. As little confidence as I have in the Cowboys front office strategery, they seem to have actually done a pretty decent job leveraging to convince Dez to take a slight pay cut.- 1

All these crazy WR contracts are why I don't think there's a need to cut Dez right now. His pay isn't crazy anymore compared to some of these contracts.
Precisely what I've been saying.
As disappointing as Dez is, he's a better impact player than Jarvis Landry. WR salaries are just getting stupid high.- 1

I scrolled past this on Reverb just a few minutes ago. $25. I think they're $40 new.
I have the Pitch Fork, but haven't used it much. I believe you can have it drop an octave and turn off the original note so you only have the big bottom note, and there's no detectable lag.

Ordered a Mooer Blues Crab today. Just couldn't lay down the bucks for an SL Drive. Poors gonna poor.

The documentaries are the number one remaining reason to have HBO, unfortunately.
The Gary Shandling thing was amazing.

I feel bad for Banny. He's probably gonna get scapegoated by JD. Nobody could manage this horse shit teams.

I don't even know what commercial it is or what product it's for, but whoever is using the Melissa Etheridge "Come to my Window" song in some ad that always seems to be on can go fuck right off.
Appropriately, it's crApplebee's. I commented on it a couple of weeks ago.

I can definitely see Mike kicking ass on something like this to pull out of the vault:
But not so much Neil Finn or Stevie singing it.

I'm not sure what the point was. Alshon was decently high priced, which is pretty much in line with a bloated market. But he certainly didn't put up elite receiver numbers, with 57 catches for under 800 yards. Their TE had more catches and yards despite missing two games.

I'm reminded from my Texas Blues post...

This guy right here is a Texas blues legend that you don't hear much about.

Rangers top prospects in 2013:
1) Jurickson Profar - injuries derailed what could’ve been an all star career. Now utility player at best.
2) Mike Olt - also had frequent injuries. Traded to Cubs for Matt Garza. Clear bust.
3) Martin Perez - never the same after TJ but has at least been durable last 2 seasons. League average starter.
4) Leonys Martin - showed flashes but could never hit enough. Still an elite CF.
5) Luis Sardinas - good defender but couldn’t hit. Traded for Gallardo.
6) Luke Jackson - didn’t work as a starter. Switched to bullpen and then didn’t work either.
7) Cody Buckel - who?
8) Lewis Brinson - could be a star. In an ideal world, would be our current CF. Instead, we got 12 months of shitty Lucroy and Jeffress.
9) Justin Grimm - didn’t turn into a starter. Traded for Garza. Has a WS ring so good for him
10) Jorge Alfaro - main piece in the Hamels trade, but has been a bust so far. No patience at all. Doubt he turns into anything.
Almost makes you miss Oddibe McDowell, doesn't it?

Don't want another Juan Gonzalez. We already have those types. Would love a few young Beltres, though.
-
In other news, Andrew Cashner gave up four hits over seven shutout innings for the Orioles.
Seems like he would have been good to keep for $16 over two years

He better learn to be funny if he's going to pound-in-the-ass prison.

Is it wrong to want to see one of Andre's turds?

Here's a perfect example of just how shitty the Rangers are. They're so shitty I actually flipped over to the Dan Rather interview with Billy Ray Cyrus. Now that's the ultimate of shitty.

Of the John Wayne/John Ford Cavalry "trilogy," I actually like Rio Grande, the best. It is criminally underrated.
