  1. I never even knew Prince was a great guitar player until he did the Superbowl, because I never liked his goofy pop music enough to pay attention to what he was doing. It's a shame he was a total reclusive weirdo that didn't get into a great rock or R&B band. I remember seeing the Raspberry Beret video on MTV for the first time, I wanted to throw a damn brick at the TV for being so trite and derivative.
  2. Hard to say. If it isn't otherwise injured it would be a booger to capture. Maybe it will get some strength up and be reasonably OK.
  3. This works better if you don't have spotify.
  4. I definitely wish I could find access to a good stock tank. Beats bank fishing at the lake.
  5. Since today is apparently the 50th anniversary of the release of Dark Side Of The Moon... =
  6. If any of y'all regularly grab a hunk of salmon from the HEB fish market section, next time get the steelhead trout instead. It's way better and a little cheaper.
  7. I haven't fished that much since the olden days when I was in clubs and doing tournaments and stuff. Got a toe in the water last year bank fishing, but I have never fished with anything but monofiliment line. Trilene XL was always my bass line of choice and still seems to be popular. What flourocarbon are y'all using? Too many damn choices. What's a good starter?
  8. Kastking and Piscifun seem to be the most common Amazon reels, get really good reviews and are cheap. I have no experience with them.
  9. Rangers on Bally today, looking like preseason champs.
  10. You can still get the Abu Garcia Black Max at Wal Mart for $47 or so, left or right handle retrieve. One of the most popular baitcasters of the last decade, tried and true. I got my Max X, the successor to the Black Max, around this time last year on sale at Academy for a similar price. They should be having big fishing reel sales soon. Also got a Max Pro for under $60. Last summer I got a Lew's Xnfinity in a pawn shop for $34, still in the clear pack.
  11. Today I checked out the listed prices at reverb of similar guitars that I have had stashed away, my American five and some others. It made me feel a bit better about having all these guitars I don't play. I seem to have done OK in regards to investment value, certainly better than any interest I get on stashed cash in the bank. But then cashing that investment in probably won't happen.
  12. Two different species almost impossible to distinguish are the greater and lesser yellowlegs without a good size/context reference. When you see them both together it's pretty clear.
  13. That could be the least expensive, best sounding, best playing guitar ever, but those inlays would be a dealbreaker.
  14. Dang good show. I've been on it for a good while. Same with The Toys... version, which may be even better.
  15. Since we're doing astro today, I took this last night after a friend texted me that he saw Jupiter and Venus were near the moon in the western sky. It was already dark and I could only get Jupiter in the frame with my 500mm, and by the time I was done with that, Venus was below the trees from my highest vantage point. Not a particularly interesting photo, but I guess I can say I got a shot of it. And here's Jupiter itself. I know, spectacular, right?
  16. I haven't bought a Rangers shirt in years because of the shitass color schemes. I need one.
  17. White breasted nuthatch I tracked down out in the boonies this weekend. I was following previous reports. They are uncommon around here, but this one particular farming area seems to get them every year.
  18. These are just so fucking bad. Going after the full regard demographic, I guess.
  19. Wow, that sucks, man. I had not read the cancer thread. Sorry to hear you have be deal with that, but very glad the prognosis is good. Getting outside probably would do you some good. I have no such excuses. I'm just depressed, unmotivated and lazy as fuck. I'm only doing some quick hit and run type short stints, but I need to get out to doing some longer excursions soon when the weather levels off a bit.
  20. Even of Austin ever was that, even for a blink of an eye, it hasn't been for a really long time. And Austin did it to itself, and it's a damn shame. Just like they dumped on just about everything that was cool.
  21. One of my friends had a yellow Matador that was the ugliest piece of shit in any parking lot. AMC made some homely looking vehicles. The Pacer was also an ugly car, but people who drove them loved them. Usually cute girls, so they sorta got more of a pass.
  22. 80s Buick Regal. Not a terrible interior experience or looks, but it was so incredibly underpowered and so lightweight, in the height of the industry forcing changes to increase gas mileage. It was not a safe vehicle. Even the old Cordoba was a pretty cool car, except for the fancy trim falling off left and right. It was a pretty good ride, but with fake suede interior, not the rich Corinthian leather.
  23. I got a brief glimpse of a pileated woodpecker and managed to squeeze off a couple of frames before it disappeared, though heavily cropped and not great. But it's always a nice surprise to see them around here.
