Aledo’s dynasty ends the moment they get bumped up to 6A. They were just 8 kids below the cutoff line for the upcoming cycle.

Meh.   Lake Travis, Austin Westlake and Southlake didn’t suddenly go into has been status when they moved up.  In fact I think LT played for a 6A title not soon after moving up, maybe the very following season?

I know ….lmao.    But this isn’t the first time a Houston chapter Refs crew called an Aledo title game and the calls went one way.   And they always seem to get to call them….

Did they ever give an update on #44 for Tidehavens injury? Didn't look good unfortunately.  Kid had made some plays before getting hurt

This was a brutal game injury wise.   There were four or five that went down with ankle or knee injuries.

Space City Sports should grab every playoff game in NRG. I believe they carried a Thursday night game throughout the season.

I doubt we see we see a statewide cable or cable adjacent option. TexanLive seems to have the broadcast rights sewn up.

I’ll enjoy the state championships on Balley’s this year because this could be it.

I think the Bally/FoxSports SW contract is the glue that held the championships being held at a central location for the last 10 years or so with the every year of that being at Jerryworld minus one when they held them at NRG.    I wonder if Bally’s future puts this at risk?

I wouldn’t mind if this ends and the UIL is  then forced to consider other venues.   Or we go back to where the coaches pick the site for each game. It’s  BS the DFW area schools year in and year out get home field advantage and they are almost assured to have at least one rep in virtually every class because three of the regions  can line up close to the area.  Let Aledo, De Soto and Duncanville travel down to San Antonio and spend their taxpayers money instead of always allowing them the luxury of staying home .

It’s sad really. I mean I watched the Netflix deal on him. I don’t see this story having anything other than a spectacularly dramatic and tragic ending. People keep enabling him because he brought aggy that amazing 11-1 season. And the awards/Heisman. They are contributing to his demise to a degree. I had thought perhaps he’d maybe turn a different corner but then I saw the documentary. And no he won’t. And I realize without him making some major (which he doesn’t seem to ever want to make) it is inevitable.

Exactly my reaction after watching it.   I realize he’s only 10 years removed from college and sometimes the full regret for actions done during your youth don’t fully kick in until later.   In his case it seems like he’s aware he’s screwed up, but is destined to rinse and repeat and really doesn’t care.   Obviously someone has told him though to try to rehabilitate his image or he wouldn’t have done that Netflix show or started the public appearance circuit.    But that’s where it stops.

Don’t see Aledo being able to run it on them at all, game should go down to the wire. Athletes of Aledo push them over the edge with a late score to an ugly 20-7 victory or something. SV’s offense really isn’t super impressive, I don’t think they utilize Dubose like they really could. Their D is lights out.

Refs will also bailout Aledo a time or two.

Cc Miller was in our district 14 years ago, and they were pitiful. I couldn’t believe they were undefeated up until last week …. Buc stadium was pretty cool though.

CC Miller got a new coach about five years ago.    He got a bunch of kids who wouldn’t even give football a chance and would go straight basketball to come out for football and sure enough they adapted well.

Their attendance zone is largely economically disadvantaged and that’s worked against them for decades.  One thing that helped Evans rebuild the program is Miller has a magnet school designation, so they can use that to “attract” kids from other attendance zones and even other ISDs. And being Evans is the only African American coach in the Coastal Bend and his staff favors that too, he’s been able to make Miller attractive for several transfer athletes who fit that demographic.
