  1. In other words, he’ll be back just in time to get injured in the AFCON and miss another month or so.
  2. Eddie's first (the insane first touch to get the ball around the defender then final touch to score) and third (a missile in to the upper corner from outside the box)... man, those reminded me of another guy who wore the 14 shirt for us and has a statue outside the stadium. And the second was a poacher's goal. Good on him bagging his first hat trick. Hope he makes another step forward toward becoming an elite No 9, because he offers something different than Gabriel Jesus. ESR and Mo back on the pitch. You love to see it, but more than that... you fucking love to see it. Sheffield are terrible, but we did what a side with title aspirations is supposed to do to a terrible side. Loved watching a stress-free match for a change. "Booby Prize Cup" match v West Ham this Wednesday ahead of Saudi FC. Personally, I'd like to see a rotated squad, with key guys getting a rest to make sure they're healthy for Saturday. Yeah, it's a trophy, and yeah it's wide open without City, but still. Premier League and Champions League should be the priorities this season. Saudi play Utd on Wednesday; I'd be interested to see what side Howe selects.
  3. All of these. Consistency is all we really want.
  4. FIFY. La Tri haven't got to the "5th game" (or the quarterfinals) since hosting in 1986. Matter of fact, I wonder who beat them in their 4th game in 2002? Does anyone remember?
  5. When you were too busy to grab lunch and need a snack on the way home.
  6. Not great timing, Bob, with Saudi FC next Sat. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get our best XI on the pitch together at some point this year.
  7. So I was wrong about Partey; club announced he’s “out with a muscle issue.” Because of course he is.
  8. Also… Those 3rd kit >>>>>>>>>>>> “Highlighter Gone amok” away kit.
  9. That touch, turn, and through ball from Jesus….
  10. Three points and top of the group. Not the best performance but better than Lens; away CL fixtures are never easy. On to the next. Help me out here, fellow Surly assholes, because I’m not seeing it: is Raya really that much better than Ramsdale? Because he nearly had another gaffe that leveled the score. Am I just being Warden Norton-level obtuse here? His wife/gf/baby mama gave birth today. Hopefully he was just given the night off to be with her and it’s not injury related.
  11. FWIW, I have YTTV and haven’t had any issues with picture quality. ESPN broadcasts their HD in 720p, and I’ve gotten (if “Stats for Nerds” is accurate) 720p60 every game.
  12. A future Surly asshole. Patenting well, you are.
  13. Breffiss after a win always tastes better. Opa’s jap & chee, eggs, more chee, toasted tortillas, Valentina’s. Black coffee.
  14. My daughter’s squad was winning their U11 division (/proud-dad story, bro) at the same time, so I only just now got to watch the match. * I thought the international break would negate the “letdown match” after the massive huge win over City. Wrong. We were terrible for 75’ and lucky not to be 3-nil down. Then their keeper had a howler, we level, and should have won on Eddie’s shot. * Hopefully that’s out of our system, cause we were poor today. * Ramsdsle 1000% deserves the next PL match in goal; Raya screwed up badly on their second, and he did everything he could to hand them a third. If Rambo can’t get a chance after that crap-tastic performance from the guy who took his job, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him press for a transfer and maybe as soon as January. He’s fouled harder and more often that anyone else in the league. Cucurella had two yellow-worthy swipes at his legs in the 1H and no doubt would have been off had he hacked at Harry Kane the same way. But we can all guess why Saka, a vital part of the England setup and one of the top 3 players for them, isn’t afforded the same level of protection from the refs. Hate to say it, but it is what it is.
  15. Gasly’s wearing a tribute helmet to François Cevert this weekend. I didn’t know his story till I watched the 30 for 30 on Sir Jackie. Damn if it didn’t get a bit dusty listening to him describe it. To drive an F1 car in those days, those guys had to have balls of solid titanium.
  16. Awesome. Hope he races a good as that lid looks.
  17. Pathetic. But, then again, it's Haas.
  18. Where you been, @shadow_operative? And 70m for Rolls Royce Saliba is low; he's worth at least least 100-110m.
  19. Vanessa Kirby: "If you look down, you'll see a surprise... You'll always want it..."
  20. So no one bothered to notice during the entire bid process until just now that SoFi's dimensions aren't wide enough for soccer pitch? Maybe. But, as always, I'm guessing the real answer to the question/problem is money. Specifically, how the massive pot of revenue will get split. "The Athletic has been told that FIFA officials have been surprised by the tenacity of U.S. cities and stadium owners during discussions, and they are experiencing a very different dynamic to the relationship they experienced for the 2022 tournament in Qatar. "In Qatar, the perception among many observers was that the Gulf state craved the prestige and privilege of hosting a tournament, with the state bearing the costs of a project estimated to have cost over $200bn. Now, however, FIFA is negotiating with local cities and businessmen who are seeking to run sustainable operations and fighting a harder bargain." https://theathletic.com/4882751/2023/09/21/world-cup-2026-kroenkes-sofi-fifa/ 100%. Jerrah will whore himself out with zero fucks given. No doubt he'll cram a bunch of erecter set bleachers into every nook and cranny of the stadjum again.
  21. Yes Haas did pull the Russian flag off their car after Putin went Full Putin, but they had to do so BECAUSE THEY DRAPED THEIR CAR IN IN THE FUCKING RUSSIAN FLAG. It's going to be funny if when Andretti routinely finishes well clear of Haas.
  22. FIFY, because we all know that’s how you would have sold the show to 1980s dad.
