    Does anyone watch with subtitles?

All of Elsie’s lines were titled as Hale.

    That’s pretty fucking interesting, man.

In the scene between MiB and his daughter at the campfire, she says "gala invite" but "gauntlet invite" is what shows up on the captioning. I'm leaning toward a mistake by the captioning company but who knows? But the seemingly minor point where MiB misremembered Grace's and her mother's feelings about the elephants in the Raj seems like it could be significant.

As I said, I’ve lived in N. Texas (Fort Worth) all 54 years.

Oh, and the actual hottest summer, 1980, I mowed lawns.....never saw any lawns catch fire.

I wasn’t here to start a fight, was just making a point.

Just never heard people bitch so much, so early in the game.

Dude, you were fucking 16 years old in 1980. I could run around in the deserts of West Texas in that kind of heat at that age too. Don't try to pull the "I walked in the snow uphill to school both ways shit" when clearly you couldn't have hacked it. 25 degrees...what a joke.

Just came back to post this. Dunno if it's an Easter Egg or an honest mistake by whoever does the captioning.

  4. I'm rewatching the episode and can't help but notice the odd symmetry of Dolores and Ford playing the piano at the beginning and end. Does this indicate a deeper connection between the two that hasn't been revealed or discussed? Afterall, she was their first creation. Moreover, in the first scene when she's testing Bernard's "fidelity", can we be sure she's not really Ford since he's no longer Arnold at that point?

I officially have no idea what’s going on now. Ford is in the cradle. Immortal?

That's pretty much how I see it: he programmed himself an afterlife. Apparently, the pea brain of a host isn't sufficient to hold a human's full character (Delos), but the vast array of servers in the Cradle are.

And it was Bernard who transferred Ford over (that he was only partially remembering).

Clearly you're an optimist.  I knew a Trump presidency would turn out just like it has.  You don't have to be a psychic to know DJT would never work for the common good...he's way too self-centered.  It was always going to be just about him and he can NEVER be wrong about anything.

He's a fat, boorish bully who was lucky enough to be born filthy rich.  If he'd been born poor, he'd either be in prison, dead, or a Trumpkin in rural WV

If Trump had been born poor in West Virginia, he'd be Boss Hogg today.

Yep. Dissenting opinions are fine, great even. But that's not what he does. He posts complete garbage and adds nothing positive to the board.

Yeah, he was a total piece of garbage as a poster not necessarily because of his viewpoints necessarily, but because he was a liar. I'm sure he'll come back as a different incarnation though. Still, I do find it a little troubling that one poster can do to another what you did to him single-handedly. I like the old system where you could only rep the same poster once ever 24 hours.

It gives a poster too much power and could come back to bite us in the ass.

Explain the Teddy story to me.  What happened to him last episode?

Dolores changed his settings to make him "tougher", but I think she's going to regret it and see that it was softer side of him that she fell in love with. Essentially breaking the free will that Maeve has learned to appreciate.

All news articles about it have also been scrubbed from the internet. Archives are still available. http://archive.is/nC2ev

Tommy is a Jewish guy who was trying to report to the public the details of a child rape gang in his country. He will be in constant danger in prison.

I've also seen talk about why they are going after people for talking rather than stopping the violent, horrible crimes being committed against children. It's simple, on the one hand they can arrest people for twitter posts and have a nice peaceful day doing their Orwellian job. On the other hand they can get investigate and try to apprehend people who will threaten to kill their families...

I'm quoting the OP so he can't go back and edit away his statements.

  10. Before reading this thread, I'd never heard of Tommy Robinson but I've learned to never take anything the OP says at face value. Of course, it didn't take long for my initial skepticism to be validated.

Here's a link from The Independent still live on their website about his arrest:

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/tommy-robinson-arrested-leeds-court-child-grooming-trial-edl-founder-latest-a8368821.html

Also, there is no credible source I can find that Robinson is Jewish. In fact, his Wikipedia page has a quote from him that both of his parents were Irish immigrants to the UK:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Robinson_(activist)?wprov=sfla1

When I googled his name and Jewish, I only saw returns from fucked up sites like Stormfront throwing out that accusation.

I don't know where else the OP spends his time on the web, but I'm not a fan of posters who come here posting literal "fake news".

    @hayden_hornPlease, consider taking appropriate action.

Wasn’t Carter Page talking about how the FBI had destroyed his life. Is he tying to get people to feel sorry for Page? Bold move, Cotton.

Yeah, I suppose that's possible but Page will be 47 next month.

Has anyone found a central website or twitter feed that is a good, balanced, accurate and timely source for information?   I find Surly is great at providing arguments from both sides, but it is so time consuming.  Plus frankly, Surly just isn't for everyone, personality wise.

I'd like to find a place to send friends who are just now waking up to rotten smell emanating off of Trump's administration.  Some place that has timelines and stories that give more detail about points along that timeline.   Also some constant running narrative on what Trump has done and the fallout of his actions or inactions.

I have gleaned a lot from the WAPO, NYT, Vogue and The New Yorker, but they are all behind paywalls after the first few articles.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Incognito mode with Chrome gives you unlimited browsing with NYTimes and WaPo. If you hit an article limit, simply open another incognito window and you're set.

The USAF fought Soviet pilots head to head in the Korean War. Of course the Rooskies were "volunteers" flying "North Korean" MIGs.

That's right. I vaguely recalled it was you who had responded, but I didn't want to misattribute or misconstrue something you might have said. Thanks, Brat.

Does this mean it was the first engagement between American and Russian ground forces then? Just looking for some historical perspective to understand whether this was a "first".

Dang! Glad I'm not about to drive that 2-lane winding stretch from Llano to Brady right now. It's harrowing enough in the dark. Can't imagine that in a thunderstorm at night, because it's heading that way... Hill Country Surly, watch your bungholes.

You tell people that live in the French quarter what they should and should not be allowed to do?

I was speaking from the tourist's perspective. If I'm following your logic, you're advocating vigilantism to shoot down potential criminals before they've even robbed or murdered in order to keep their numbers down.

Again, as a visitor (or even resident), I'd prefer my chances of not getting killed or harmed in Wyoming than New Orleans.
