  1. I think if healthy, AD, Bam, and Chet are all likely to make the team (I'm just going to assume Embiid has lost a bunch of his athleticism at that point and might not be healthy), and if AD can't go or isn't as effective, then JJJ could make sense as a 3rd center; obviously he had issues last year at the World Cup, but that was as the starter, and I think as a 3rd guy he'd be much better. He certainly spaces the court better than Allen, and is probably a better rim protector and more switchable defensively
  2. I'm not sure if projecting forward four years, if Brunson is necessarily a better choice than the other bunch of guards in the pool. It's a loaded group, as evidenced by guys like Brunson, Kyrie, Mitchell, etc getting left out this time around. To me Ant and probably Booker are locks, and then you have maybe a dozen others to choose from for 2-3 other guard spots, and White seems like he'll have an inside track to get one of those spots since he doesn't need the ball in his hands to be extremely impactful I like Haliburton on offense with these groups since he pushes the pace both with the ball and look ahead passes, is an excellent connector, and spaces the court, but his feet look stuck in cement defensively against quick guards, and quick guards seem to be the best player on a lot of these other teams
  3. Boundary X is the spot in the NFL that normally gets pressed, and Worthy will likely not see many snaps at that spot this year
  4. Texas is a top two team in the country. If Ohio State or Oregon had better QBs, they'd probably have an edge... but they don't, they have fucking Dillon Gabriel and Will Howard. Does anyone think those guys can win 3 or 4 games in a row in the playoffs?
  5. Also, Mike Bobo
  6. Last year Houston had essentially an average offense across the season, ranking 14th in offensive DVOA, despite featuring a rookie QB, rookie OC, rookie WR2, and an offensive line with perhaps the worst injury situation the modern NFL has seen The passing attack was #3 in explosive play rate, but the rushing attack was ranked #25 in success rate. Obviously the offensive line issues are the primary culprit with the poor rushing success rate, but I think having a below average RB1 (albeit one who surprisingly surpassed most of our expectations) in Singletary and a RB2 who was a terrible fit in this offense in Pierce. Houston potentially significantly upgraded RB1 with Mixon (if his quad strain ever heals), and they potentially also upgraded RB2 with Cam Akers, whose entire NFL career has been spent in zone based offenses, and rookie Jawhar Jordan who's an excellent zone runner If the rushing success rate improves significantly (even getting to average around #16 in the league) would mean easier passing situations for Stroud, and also more opportunities for explosive passing plays since that should mean more plays in general since you'll be converting more first downs With the Diggs addition, who I think will help particularly with chain moving, I think Houston should be a lock for a top 10 offensive DVOA, and I'm predicting a top 5 finish in that metric assuming average injury luck
  7. I think he's probably just pressing and hasn't find his groove yet
  8. He's a lot smaller than foreman was
  9. He’s more similar to Tank Dell
  10. Curry will go nuclear in one of these games, although you don’t really need that on this team and would prefer for him to be consistently solid
  11. Haliburton really has no shot at guarding quick guards. He's bbq chicken
  12. Bam is an underrated difference maker for this team
  13. Curry needs to be excellent on offense to justify being on the court due to his defense. He's the opposite of that today
  14. KD, always there to bail the national team out when they need it
  15. There's a lot of slipping on the court right now
  16. S Sudan's athleticism is going to give Serbia problems
  17. I mean, that's what we're talking about, right? The US Olympics is extremely difficult to make, especially for a perimeter player who's a terrible three point shooter
  18. Hart is more of a World Cup guy when a lot of the all-NBA and even all-star types turn the opportunity down. Brunson is in the dozen or so guards bucket that I mentioned; in addition to the guards I predicted to be on the team there's also Brunson, Kyrie, Mitchell, Fox, Ja, Maxey, etc..
  19. I didn't watch him closely, but Hollinger/Duncan thought he looked terrible per their latest podcast The next guy to watch for them is in the 2025 draft; point guard Nolan Traore If Sarr hits, they could potentially have something like Traore-Coulibaly-Risacher-Wemba-Sarr
  20. Also I'm listening to Duncan and Hollinger right now and they're discussing how there's been a ton of athletic and long but raw french wings who've been drafted because of their upside but who quickly busted. It might be a thing.
  21. By the way, France has a ton of young talent coming up through the pipeline, including players who are already in the NBA, high draft picks from the 2024 draft, and prospects projected to go very high in next year's draft. In four years Wemba might be a top five player in the world, and they might be able to surround him with good NBA players. They should make the next World Cup team heavy with young players in preparation for the Olympics
  22. You're losing those three top 10-15 all time players, plus likely one of the historically best team USA players in Jrue Holiday. He left the team before the Olympics started, but you can also probably go ahead and cross Kawhi off too. You can still get 10-12 all-NBA types on the team though. A lot of it is deciding which of the dozen or so qualified guards do you pick? Do we go ahead and assume health for Embiid and AD? Is Zion healthy? Is someone like Brandon Miller too good a fit at FIBA ball to keep off the team? Who replaces Jrue as the primary on-ball defender? I'll take a stab 'C: AD, Bam, Chet (I'll go ahead and guess that Embiid is injured and AD isn't) W: Tatum, Paolo, Flagg, Brown (I decided between a bunch of wings here, including Brown, Barnes, Bridges, Miller, but went with Brown) G: Ant, Haliburton, Booker, White (again, you can justifiably pick a dozen different guys here, but it's probably easiest to pick players with prior Olympics success).... I'll take a heat check and take a fifth guard with Jalen Suggs, who's now one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and is turning into a good connecter, he just needs to be able to make open threes I think by this time Ant is probably the best American player, with Tatum not far behind. So the team would be more ball stoppy and iso heavy because that's how those two play, which can be remedied a bit by starting Haliburton and telling everyone to just go (plus Haliburton adds spacing). Obviously Haliburton is a problem on defense, but so is Steph; as long as he works hard defensively, you can probably make up for it with four other good defenders around him. The other 5th starter can be matchup dependent, or maybe Paolo or Flagg has ascended at that point, or maybe it's just Booker
  23. Listening to the Hoop Collective, it seems like Kerr wants to go with a ten man rotation, and since he said Tatum will play this next game, then means someone else will be out of the rotation. Is it one of the guards, which would be White, Booker, or Ant? Is it Embiid?
