Yes, the others dropped out, along with players from other teams who made the semis

    2025 NFL Draft

I think Walter Nolen is senior-bowling his way out of Houston's draft spot at #25
  5. I'm saying that bobby is underestimating our light-loafer's ability to handle double teams
  6. He held up well against double teams in the run game in the playoff
  7. They still have Mike Bobo at OC

    2025 NFL Draft

It's a hit rate thing, trying to make drafting more scientific and less art Teams have various "measurables" thresholds at different positions that have to be met to spend a certain value of draft pick. Arm length for OTs, hand size for QBs, max throwing velocity for QBs, arm length for outside corner, short shuttle for ILB, short shuttle for S, three cone for edge, etc They have data that shows players who meet these thresholds have a higher rate of "hitting" than those who don't, so if you filter out the players who don't meet those thresholds, theoretically your drafting should improve. Combine the improved hit rate with focusing on the more valuable positions early, and you should be doing much better than how teams were drafting in the 1990s, at the very least, although if every team is doing it to some degree, is there really an edge? Another way to think about it is these measurables are rare in humans, so draft the players with the rare measurables earlier, and then there should be more players available later in the draft with more common measurables to choose from, and missing later in the draft hurts you less Some teams are all-in on this, while others are pretty lax about it Regarding Banks, I don't see why he can't be Rashawn Slater, who's been a good NFL LT when healthy, and if he were in this draft with the knowledge of how he's played in the NFL (ignoring injuries), he'd probably go top five Another thing to consider is interior OL (which apparently some teams view Banks and even Campbell as) are becoming more valuable because there are more dominant DLs and more difficult to deal with interior stunts than ever before, and the contracts for the top guards tracks with that

Banks' draft range in the mocks changed because he was likely over-slotted, and DJ finally got around to posting his, and the rest of the industry adjusted since he's the most connected and should have the most accurate mock at any given time
  10. Watched Tennessee and Texas He's not a play-maker yet mostly because he reacts slowly when the play is coming his way and he doesn't have much of a plan in pass rush, but he does a solid job of holding his ground against doubles in the run game against good competition. Another year of S&C and practice and even game reps should see him thinking less and reacting faster in-games, and perhaps then he'll be more productive Before I watched those snaps I thought he was a low floor high ceiling guy, but I think he can already play rotational snaps and hold up well, so he has a better floor than I was expecting. I saw closer to good than elite athleticism for the position, which is more than fine Played mostly at 1-tech, curious to see how he'd look moved around on the line Texas, Georgia, Florida, and even Ohio State wanted him for a reason
  11. If you're trying to find his snaps on youtube, here's the games against P4 opponents where he got the most PT Tennessee- 14 snaps Michigan State- 13 Purdue- 11 Oregon- 8 Texas- 7

    2025 NFL Draft

For Houston, the positions that make the most sense to me in the first are DT (in large part because there's some high upside guys in this draft who might fall into the mid 20s), WR, OG (there's some OG/OT types, who'd be particularly great fits if Houston sticks with the OZ offense), TE (my Tyler Warren dream has died, he ain't making it to #25), and to a lesser extent S Here's some names that could make sense at each one of those at #25. Some of these names probably have a low likelihood of making it to #25, although there's always a couple of guys who fall for whatever reason and get scooped up by the Eagles, Ravens, Steelers, Chiefs, etc DT: Walter Nolen Kenneth Grant Derrick Harmon TJ Sanders Jordan Philliams Tyleik Williams OG: Kelvin Banks Armand Membou Tyler Booker Donovan Jackson Jonah Savaiinaea Wyatt Milum WR: Emeka Egbuka Luther Burden Matthew Golden TE: Colston Loveland S: Malaki Starks Nick Emmanwori

I could see them taking Egbuka there if they go WR. He's a plug and play WR2, which they need now with Diggs being a free agent and Tank probably taking two years to get back to where he was Of course, we don't even know what offense they're going to run right now

    2025 NFL Draft

Fwiw, he actually has a high pressure rate, he just struggled to convert those into sacks. Some teams might look at that and think they can turn those into sacks, and some might look at that and think consistent pressures are good enough at that pick. Also, draft twitter/fans always underrate power rushing from the edge compared to what the NFL sees. Coaches value edges who'll bully lighter tackles or TEs/RBs, and at Shemar's size he'll potentially offer that I think he starts to become a surplus value pick in the second half of the round. Taking him first overall over Aiden Hutchinson is a different story

    2025 NFL Draft

He’s huge and athletic. His lack of production is priced in and is why he’s not a top five pick

    He'll do whichever makes sense
  20. Yes hiring from the coaching tree isn't necessarily a bad thing. Others in the tree can potentially do better than Slowik, and if you stay within the tree, Kubiak naturally will be a candidate Hiring from a different tree that has different (arguably better) rules for pass pro is intriguing though. I think the OL is set up for a different run scheme too, outside of the light center(s)
  21. I saw a report saying that the assistant OL coach (don't remember who reported it) was also let go, but that appears to be inaccurate https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1882883757268746365
  22. Firing the both the OL coach and assistant OL coach makes me think it won't be an internal hire It'll be an outside OC who'll pick an OL coach who fits his offense, imo

  24. First question is, are they staying in the McShanahan tree that about a third of the league is in now, or are they zagging? Either way, the OC needs to be aligned with the OL coach
