  1. You're assuming UW won't offer him a raise, which is definitely not true. ATM doesn't have to just beat his current salary, they have to beat whatever extension UW offers, plus pay a $12mm buyout. UW is also about to get that Big 10 TV money next year which could fund a new salary easily. Looking at other factors - ATM has a better recruiting base in TX and more NIL cash. But UW is objectively a more successful program with plenty of NIL potential in Seattle. Plus he'd be starting over with always brings risk. And personally, Deboer has always lived/worked in the Northwest/Midwest. His daughter is also committed to play softball at UW. So moving to College Station probably isn't too appealing. Now, I'm not saying there's a 0% chance, but it doesn't seem likely to me.
  2. Looch said on Twitter that Lanning is not happening. Lanning also very explicitly said it is not happening (unlike a lot of the deflections you hear from others). Also - would ATM boosters really fly up there (on a 737 no less) before Jimbo was announced, right before ATM's game Saturday, and right before Oregon's game vs USC? Btw - that might be where Oregon St flies out of too
  3. You talking about the original 9.95er stories or the Pete Thamel tweet that pumped the breaks?
  4. Has DeBoer shot it down or been ruled out? Haven't seen that. Although I have always thought he's a major longshot for multiple reasons.
  5. Quinn has a tough decision to make. On one hand, 2nd round picks still make a lot of money and theoretically he'd get to free agency sooner. And there is some risk in coming back. On the other hand, he should improve his draft stock if he comes back, at least on paper. He's only really had 2 years of college experience and that third typically makes a big difference. It's also interesting bc he originally thought he'd be eligible for the 2025 draft (before the last-second reclassification), so in a way it would just be back to the original plan. Plus, he wouldn't exactly be starving here at UT.
  6. Idk what to believe. I really didn't think QE would be back until these reports started coming out this week. But now the Ewers fam mouthpiece is throwing water on them. Probably will come down to NIL I guess
  7. I still think it'll be Elko. Makes sense for both sides. Imo jury is still out on him as a HC but he could be a good hire and would definitely be more affordable than other options. I still don't see why Lanning would leave and how ATM could afford him after the Jimbo buyout. Really surprised to see Kiffin #1 on those odds. He's already at $9mm/year which would be tough for ATM to afford. Plus Kiffin has been openly making fun of ATM non-stop the last two years. He even got caught calling Bryce Anderson a pussy during last year's game. Schumann and Traylor would likely take the job.
  8. I'm saying Athletics are part of the university btw in case that wasn't clear
  9. Bjork is a clown. He was the AD at Ole Miss for Hugh Freeze. He also pulled that stunt leaking the TX/OU SEC news at SEC Media Day.
  10. So $19mm from donors and $58mm from the university. Very wise spending as an "academic institution"
  11. Not a lawyer but yes, that is what it means. He's getting that money no matter what.
  12. Do you have a link to where he said that? Insane if true.
  13. Wow so you're saying they should try to win this week? Breaking News
  14. You're right, I missed that extension. And Oregon will probably offer him another raise given how they've done this year. So yeah ATM would have to offer that and pay his $20mm buyout.
  15. Is this legit / have you seen a reliable report on this? If so that's truly unacceptable as a state taxpayer.
  16. He's also an Oregon St alum so he'd maybe turn both down and stay put
  17. The SEC basically already does that. Look at the directional schools they all play this weekend.
  18. Interesting. Gundy is the lowest-paid on that list at $7.6mm. For comparison, Norvell is at $7.3mm, Lanning at $6.6mm plus a $20mm buyout, and both undoubtedly in line for raises from their current schools given how this year has gone. Daboer is below $5mm, but again, UW will up that a bunch so the number to beat is certainly much higher.
  19. Did Barron get hurt against TCU? Was wondering why Guilbeau was in so much at the end
  20. I didn't realize Lanning has a $20mm buyout. So to get him ATM would have to pay that and then likely give him a long-term salary of $9mm. All after paying Jimbo $76mm to go away (plus more for assistants). No university should be spending that much on a sport.
  21. Can't Turner just go pro?
  22. I'm sure they'll make a run at Daboer and Lanning first. Daboer's current salary is <$5mm and Lanning is $6.6. Nothing crazy. But both will have big raises offered by their current school for sure. Just this past offseason, UW just made their OC one of the highest paid OCs in the country to keep him from going to A&M. Can't imagine they'll just sit back and let Daboer get bought away especially with that Big 10 money coming next year. Daboer is also a lifelong NW/Midwest guy. From a personal standpoint, no way he'd prefer A&M and it'd be a big career gamble too. Lanning doesn't really have Texas ties but may want back in the SEC. Cristobal just got poached from Oregon so it's possible (although he went home to Miami so that was more personal). Oregon isn't an easy place to recruit to either. I still think low odds he'd leave but more possible than Daboer.
  23. My uninformed take on the potential replacements: Kiffin - he's making $9mm/year at Ole Miss and has publicly been blasting A&M for the last two years. Can't see that happening. Daboer - has a low salary right now but you have to believe UW will match anything. Lifetime Midwest/Northwest guy so can't to see him leaving UW if the money is close to even. Lanning - Making $6.6mm right now with a raise likely incoming. Phil Knight gonna let him leave for an Adidas school? Doubtful. But maybe he wants back in the SEC. Elko - the most likely hire imo. Familiar with ATM, might hold the roster together. Chance for him to get paid and get a shot at a big program while he's hot. Kingsbury - lol Traylor - possible, probably not splashy enough for ATM though Norvell - making $8mm on a likely CFP team with a raise undoubtedly coming from FSU. Makes no sense for him to leave and face a rebuild. Klieman - No ties to Texas but otherwise could make sense. Supposedly not interested in Michigan St job for whatever reason, maybe he's happy in Kansas. A lot of this goes back to what has been discussed before - even for those crazies, A&M likely can't pay another Jimbo-level contract to the next coach while paying Jimbo's deal at the same time..
  24. Maybe more than that. The old line probably factored in a chance he'd play. If he had been ruled out for sure it may have been lower.
  25. Losing PK would suck. This has been the best defense we've had in ages and PK deserves the credit for that. That said, I'd be shocked if he left for USC. They won't outbid us (especially after taxes), he'd be inheriting a mess, and Lincoln Riley teams are a graveyard for DCs. He's also never even coached in California so it's not like he has major ties there. His "West Coast" background is really Idaho, Montana and Washington which is not SoCal. But yeah, makes sense USC would have him as a target. That doesn't mean much..
